Thanks sarah and everyone else! i will try the shortend version of what is up.

I posted a while back that my dad's lung cancer has returned. Well we came home to IL for a week to see everyone after Christmas and dad was having bad headaches, memory loss ect... We got him to the Dr and they did a CT scan and they found he has a 6cm tumor in his right frontal lobe pushing on his brain. They then did an MRI and found 5 other small spots in the brain and found others in his liver and a few glands.

We have been trying since last friday to convince him surgery was best and today he finally decided it was, so tomorrow/Thursday they are going to do the brain surgery and remove the tumor then start radiation and we will go from there and see how things go.

This has been so hard because of where the tumor is, its affecting his memory and sense of reason so its been hard for him to completly understand why we think this is best ect... So now just ask for TONS of prayers for him and that all goes well. His name is Bernie.

SURGERY was a SUCCESS! He was a trooper but they got all the tumor and he is doing great. The surgery took just under 4 hours and he did great. They took his vent tubes out today and has been sitting up and talking. Tonight he walked the halls just a bit. He also had jello so YEA!

He is showing no signs of any neuro issues too! that was his big concern.

Oh this is WONDERFUL news!! I am so glad for all of you.

he is HOME!!!!!!!!!! I brought him home yesterday afternoon about 1pm or so. He is doing great so far and that is a HUGE relief. He will start radiation either next monday or the monday after, I am not sure right now. Please keep him in your prayers but a BIG thank you to for all the ones so far.

so far things for my dad are improving SOOO much, He is stronger and better each day. He is home and doing good. He will start radiation next week some time then do a new chemo pill and we will just pray it all works as we hope.

The really good news is I am finally going home! I was lucky enough to be in Illinios visiting my parents with my hubby and kids when all thsi happend. Hubby had to drive the kids back to Va so they could get back in school so I have been able to be here and help out with everything. Well tomorrow I will finally be going home and i can't WAIT to sleep in my own bed. I miss is SOOOOOO much!

I am!!!!!!!!!! I made it back to Va yesterday. It was awful to leave my dad in Illinois. I am a total daddy's girl and the baby to boot. THe poor guy on the plane next to me must have thougth I was a totall nutter since it cried almost the entire 25 min flight up to Chicago but I pulled it together and the flight from Chi to DC was tear free

it was great to see my kids and hubby, but I was POOPED!

I have vegged and goofed off on this thing the whole day.

tomorrow we are shopping and cleaning since i have DH home for another day.
We have gift cards from Christmas that we need to use!

I talked to dad today and he said he was happy he could read the paper today without any problems. Before the surgery, the tumor was affecting his vision really bad and now its almost totally cleared up

he has a long road ahead but so far so good!
