10-Oct-2009 - Eastern Magic St. Croix

Can't believe it is 38 days!! WAHOO!

I asked before and so did someone else, but when are we going to do a final cut off and list for the FE exchanges and Secret Mickeys? I need to get my stuff together and knowing the final numbers would really help!

See you guys soon!

I think SoccrMom was arranging the FE. She hasn't posted in awhile. You might want to send her a PM, maybe she's not getting E-mail notifications we've been posting to this board. I know I have that problem often!

I will send her a message. I am sure other inquiring minds want to know too! :goodvibes

Im trying to find some info on the Cruzan Rum tour in St. Croix. Looks like the Dis excursion includes botanical gradens and other places, but we just want to do the Distillery tour. Seems like a fun getaway from the kiddos & way less expensive.
Anyone have any info on how to go about booking just that tour through somewhere else? Anyone done that tour?
38 DAYS!!! HOLY COW!!!

The distillery is something DH and I were going to do, not the tour through DCL, but just catch a cab and go over there. From what I have read, the tour is free but you will have to take a taxi to the location. We wanted to go there, sample the rum, and then find some bar to go chill at. Of course, we are not taking the kiddos with us!

I cannot believe it is only 38 days until the cruise. I feel so unprepared for this trip because we have been so busy with school and activities. The time is flying by now. I booked this back in Jan. 2008 as well. I still need to rent a car and I am bummed because the rental rates have gone up quite a bit since I priced them about a month ago. I just never got around to booking.

Speaking of rental cars, is anyone thinking about getting one in St. Croix? I think that might be what we do and tour the island on our own. Can you do the rum tour with kids or is it 18 and over? We will have our kids with us.

Meredith

Alright, I know I have been slacking, but the beginning of the school (that I work at) year coincides with the end of my semester for the school that I go to. So, life has just been crazy for the past three or four weeks.

As for the FE exchange, lets make the cut-off date this Friday, September 4. So, if any of you are interested, add yourself to the document at the bottom underneath my signature. Make sure you check Y in the FE box, and don't forget we need your room number!

I want to participate and added my name and stuff, but I just booked and don't have a room number yet.

The tour is open to all ages, but for obvious reasons, the kids can't taste test the rum at the end of the tour. Go figure! :confused3

We reserved our car rental for pre/post cruise this past weekend. The rates weren't awesome but they weren't too bad. One tip I read on MouseSavers was to check back often because you can cancel and get the cheaper rate if one comes up! Too bad that doesn't apply to the airlines.

My children have been HUGE Toy Story fans. First DS, when he was younger, and for the past few years, my DD. They are re-releasing Toy Story 1 and 2 to the theaters, in 3D in anticipation of Toy Story 3. I just read Toy Story 1 and 2 will be in theaters October 2nd. What are the chances we will be able to see them on the ship for our cruise? OMG! If that is the case, my DD will just be in heaven!!! :yay:

You sound more & more like our kinda people with every post JD!!! Let me know if you wanna share a cab & some cocktails!

in response to the movie question im almost positive when the DW called and asked about the movies onboard the agent on the phone said that the disney 3D re-release of toy story 1 and 2 should be shown onboard!

I am extremely excited about that myself!

second off we are planning on doing the rum distillery as well so i think i forsee a nice friendship starting to form here :)

look forward to meeting everyone!!!!!

(id say party in our room, but its about 200 square feet....thats a bad idea im thinking)

Jackie, Do you mind me asking what type of rental rates you got? I keep seeing people saying they get it for a day for about $40.00. When I first looked, it was about that and now it is about $15.00-$20.00 more. We are flying into Tampa so I will need it Friday and turn in Saturday and then a return one on the 17th at Tampa.

We're flying in to MCO and for our first rental, Thursday night - Saturday, we have a full size at $113.89. Then our 2nd rental Saturday - Monday AM, we have a SUV and I think it's $239.98 (I say "think" because it's what I wrote down but I'm not sure.) We're using Budget and I used a discount code, W810000 or W810011, that I found on MouseSavers.

Rum is the favorite drink of my most favorite pirate!!

Another thought for everyone: Are we planning to meet on the ship? Are we going to wear anything on the date of sail to distinguish ourselves to each other?

well for the sake of humor i will likely be wearing a shirt saying "IM ON A BOAT" i feel it is only appropriate...any opinions? heh
