10-Oct-2009 - Eastern Magic St. Croix

We just booked the 10/10 cruise. It will be my 6th and my husband's 5th on the Disney Magic.

I'm (Teena) a cast member and work at the BC and my hubby (Bob) is a cast member and works at the Contemporary. We're retired and only work two days a week ... we have the best retirement jobs in the world!!

We don't have a cabin number yet.

Welcome!

We are also limiting our packing. We have nonstop flights so if we have to do carry on I am okay with it more than I would be if we had layovers because I hate dragging a lot of stuff through the airport but the airlines aren't. Making it easy on anyone and their fees are outrageous!

I know it's late in the game but we just booked, our first cruise. Yeah!!! :woohoo:

My husband & myself, room 7127.

Welcome to all the newbies!!
I need this trip...like, YESTERDAY! Cant say how busy ive been the last few months, but to top it off, DH crashed his motorcycle a month ago and, (thank heaven cuz it coulda been worse...alot worse), he dislocated his wrist & had to have emergency surgery. The next trip to the doc, Dr. T decided to perform another surgery & put 2 more pins in his wrist! Needless to say, he may or may not be in a waterproof cast for the trip!
I contemplated cancelling but just couldnt get myself to make the call. Seriously, hell or high water, we need this trip.
Wish him luck & think good thought for us!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your DH but am thankful it wasn't life threatening. And at least it's the wrist, that's easier to handle with water than a leg or something!! So glad you aren't canceling. I hear you on needing this vaca!

Welcome, Camyle. Glad you can join us.

I was on DCL site the other day and noticed they have Category 12 available. Crazy. Has anyone been contacted about upgrades or anything of that nature??

I havnt heard about our upgrade yet....Im counting on one as a birthday gift from Disney...teeheehee ;)
On our last trip in 01 we were cat 6 and we reallt liked the verandah. Hoping that we get a lil bump back to Cat 6 from the Cat 9 we're in now...although the Cat 9 looks quite nice with that big ole port hole!!
Hubby goes back to the Doc tomorrow for updates........:wizard: Thanks for your well wishes!! (poor baby...he's miserable without his wittle moto-sicle)

We sailed in 2007 with a Cat 9 and the large port hole is very nice. We booked the same room for our upcoming cruise. But like you, would like to be bumped to a Verandah..think that would be cool. But if not, we did really love our room and would have no complaints if that is what we sail with! :thumbsup2

Good luck to your DH tomorrow.

Just got this email from my TA after I questioned her about any news on latest upgrades...

"In regards to upgrades, the cruise is filling up pretty steadily so Disney
is not giving any complimentary upgrades... at least not at this time. If
you wanted to do a paid upgrade, a balcony cabin is costing a total of $1574
more than what you've paid at this point. If this is something you want to
confirm, just let me know!"

Im sending all kinda good thought vibrations to the upgrade Gawds! :hippie:OHHHHM...OHHHHM......OHHHHM:worship::worship::worship:

In the meantime, I have started working on our door signs. Oh boy.

Can I apply disney dollars/gift cards to my on board account? My MIL wants to know what to get me for my upcoming birthday and this is about the only thing that I can come up with that she woudl be agreeable to buying. Thanks.

Welcome!!!
Our children are relatively close in age, my DS is 15 and my DD is turning 6 on the cruise (she tells everyone this fact)!

Pre Cruise plans - going to MNSSHP.
Post Cruise plans - going to Universal
St. Croix - probably going to a rum distillery and then finding a bar on a beach and drinking with DH!

You?

Wow, first post ever!

We're arriving a day ahead and planning on Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party the night before, going straight home afterwards, and snorkeling on St Croix.

After seeing how my friends on the last cruise were diverted by hurricanes Ana and Bill, I'm doing the "no hurricanes, please" dance. I'm not interested in my eastern turning into a western. I realize you can't do anything about the weather, but I won't be a happy cruiser if my itinerary changes that drastically. This particular cruise week is already turning into a PITA, because it's the last week of the grading period for my kids' school. They will have to have their work done and turned in before we even go. My DD is going to have to schedule a time after school to sing her entire choir concert for her teacher since she will be missing the performance. This is what happens when you book so far ahead.

We are arriving pre cruise on Wednesday 10/7 and going to do Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Animal Kingdom and when we get off the ship we are going to do Epcot Food & Wine and Hollywood Studios. Flying home on 10/19. Not sure if we are going to do MNSSHP or not? We've done it the past 2 years. The 15 year old isnt that interested in it so we will see.....
In St. Croix we are not sure what to do as we have never been there. Would love to do Buc Island but my 4 yr old isnt old enough unless we booked something on our own through someone else. I like the idea of renting a car and driving around. Still up in the air on what to do!!!
Oh and I hope it is smooth sailing too.....no hurricanes PLEASE!!! We've been pretty fortunate with the cruises we've done in the past and have only experienced rocking a couple times.
