10-Oct-2009 - Eastern Magic St. Croix

For all of you staying on Site at Disney Resorts before or after our cruise...Be sure and call your travel agent back or disney back if you booked your room direct (we booked direct.)

They just released some new discounts a few days ago for travel starting 10/4

Code is KHP

We called back Disney reservations, asked for the new Promo, gave our confirmation # and they applied it...reducing our room rate substantially. We are staying 2 nights at the Carribean Beach Resort. We'd payed the 1st day as a deposit and were supposed to pay the 2nd day upon arrival. Now with the new rate, we are just going to owe about $50 for day # 2.

WooooHooo!!:banana: Just got off the phone with Dis reservations!! That code saved me a bunch! We're only stayin at the Pop Century Sat, Sun & checkin out Mon, & originally they wanted 270.00! The KHP CODE took just over 100.00 buckaroos off the bill! I'll owe 30.00 when we check in!!
TEXAS GIRL...YOU ROCK!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Thanks!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao:

I made my own as well. I love to do anything that will help me not do my homework in a timely manner, so sewing fits nicely into that category.

On our last cruise there were all kinds of things from as simple as a gift-bag decorated with sharpies, canvas bags - like you can get at Michael's with iron-on images, to large hand sewn pockets. Good luck with whatever you decide and I sure whatever you end up with will be great!

Okay, I should be able to handle a gift bag! lol I saw a neat wood treasure chest on ebay but its price skyrocketed an hour before it closed. :surfweb:

I'll be looking for the sock! lol:rotfl2:

Buy a few felt squares in Mickey colors (or whatever) from your local hobby shop and sew them to a fabric backing with embroidery thread (all six strands)in a nice long (but even) running stitch around three sides of each square, attach a string at the top, and call it good. A half hour, you're done.

Tonight I filled out all the online forms and the Bahamas forms they sent us earlier in the year, and filed everything in my trip folder - ready to go!

Going to try to get DH to rent a tux and shoes - his shoes are huge and heavy and if he can stand a few hours of wearing shoes someone else has worn, I can leave those behemoths at home! Can't be too different from renting bowling shoes! More space for souvenirs!

Hey Fellow Cruisers,

I know some of you are planning on attending MNSSHP before the cruise. Can someone tell me why, really, really why it is so much fun? And is it really, really worth the extra money? We're not big on parades & I know this is a major draw for some. My hubby was chatting with someone last night & now he wants to go. I'm just leary of spending another $200 to our already out of this world vacation pricetag (it really is getting obscene) and we still want to do the pirate league pirate:and pirate tours from the resort.

Don't get me wrong..........I'd love to do it all but I'm gonna have to cut something. Or donate a kidney.:goodvibes

So, your opinion counts! What do you really think? Thanks much,
Karen:rolleyes:

I enjoy the special parties for the smaller crowds - attraction lines are significantly shorter. I'm not big on parades either, and I will not spend hours staking out a spot to see one, ever ever ever. I do like the fireworks and the extra added attractions. The kids will enjoy the candy, I'm sure. We plan to attend in our pirate night attire - dual duty! We'll be arriving in the wee hours of Friday morning, and allowing ourselves the luxury of sleep and a leisurely breakfast. We will be attending MNSSHP in lieu of an all-day park day and will be checking out the new DVC digs.

As for whether it's worth the extra added expense, that's a personal thing. You can always send your DH with the kids and take the night off. If you only come out every few years, and like to do it big, maybe this is part of that philosophy. Do you believe you will come in October in the future? Maybe instead of a 5-day pass, you choose a 4-day and MNSSHP, and spend the last day at the resort by the pool or exploring other Disney resorts, taking care of laundry and packing, and then enjoy MNSSHP as a last hurrah before boarding the ship.

We've gone to MNSSHP twice and are going again this year.

That will be our only trip to a park. The day prior we are skipping parks since we won't get to the resort until noon. Instead we'll enjoy all the amenities of the resort...pools, hammocks, maybe rent a water craft or fish. The next day is more Resort time, big nap and then MNNSHP normally lets you in at 3 or 4...so head to the party. This makes the build up to the party that much more exciting...since it is the only trip to a Park of the trip.

We like the spooking theming, most of all the SHORT lines, the parade is great...we also don't stand in line to stake a spot...the characters in Halloween attire....the chance to wear costumes.

:woohoo:

Then the bus doesn't pick up up until noon in the resort lobby so we can sleep in the next morning if we want.

We have been to MNSSHP twice and love it! I love the parade. I am not a huge parade person either but this one is good. You will also get to see a lot of characters that you might not get to see on a regular basis. There are some villians out plus Snow White with the Prince and all 7 Dwarfs together. There are shorter lines and the kids will get LOTS of candy. The Haunted House is especially spooky. But, with all that said we are not going this year.
Last year when we were at MNSSHP, I made the plan to go this year before the cruise. I realized that the dates should work out perfectly. However, my DH had other thoughts. He thought it would be too much for the kids to fly in that day, go to the party at night and then get up early the next day to get to the port. (He knew I would want to get there early.) We would normally sleep in the next day. So, since we were not going to a park, I took a completely different route. We are staying at the Nick Hotel for the night before the cruise. I could not stay in a Disney Resort and not go to a park. Dalton, my DS, has asked to go to the Nick Hotel before to try it. I never thought we would get the chance because if we are in Orlando, we would stay at Disney. The kids do not know we are staying there. It should be a nice surprise for them and something new. I have read mixed reviews so I am a little nervous. Plus, I am secretly jealous of everyone going to MNSSHP.

Well I dont know what your family consist of BUT we have two little princessess who LOVE getting dressed up and handing out with all the Disney characters who also get decked out in Halloween costumes. They get to trick or treat, dance around, all while in the costume of their choice. We have done the Halloween party here in So. Cal Disneyland every year and this will be our fist time at WDW.

DCL has started a countdown. :thumbsup2 If you log in to your reservation, it shows how many days until our cruise. I think that's a nice touch.

I am so ready for this vacation. It's been a long summer of algebra classes.

My cruise box is collecting more items. I bought some travel Febreeze spray the other day. I thought that to be a nice touch. Getting ready!!!

Funny......My cruise bag is growing and growing, everything from nail polish remover wipes, packets of tide, inflatable pillows (for the plane)....it is just getting bigger & bigger. I'm trying to really limit our luggage (all that extra$) and everyone from DH down to DD will have a carryon but it's a BIG bag & lots more time left to add to it!:confused3

It wouldn't be so bad but we're going to be gone for 3 weeks so....the kitchen sick? It's in there!:rotfl2:

Getting REALLY excited!:cheer2:

We are definitely going to pack less than we did last time but that still doesn't change that we have to pack a lot. I'm excited. So excited.

I have mentioned to the family that I am trying to limit checked baggage to 3 bags and we will each have a carry-on. My rolling carry-on bit the dust on my last trip this summer. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good, affordable rolling carry-on?

Thanks,

Meredith

I was pleasantly surprised today...after much discussion we decided that we wanted to get into the early dining time...so I e-mailed the TA and asked to have us waitlisted since when we booked in December there were no early times open...and within minutes I had an e-mail saying that there were times open, so no need to be waitlisted, we are in the main dining time. I AM EXCITED!
