10-Oct-2009 - Eastern Magic St. Croix

We booked our flights our of Harrisburg....thru Newark-got a good rate only $200! We will be heading down Friday and staying at the Radisson. We tlove the hotel and you cant beat the free shuttle to the port.

Dag nabit. I just wrote this long post about being finished with school for the semester and how I was going to get started on pirate costumes and finish up fish extender stuff, but it just disappeared. I had even included all kinds of cute smilies. Sometimes I just hate my computer. pirate:

Anyway, I hope that you are all having a nice weekend and enjoying the beautiful weather. I am just hoping that the pool finally heats up enough to use it (it is still only 75%, and I like it closer to 80%).

Good news on booking your flight!! :thumbsup2

Congrats on finishing school for the semester!! :woohoo: I am in school until September (?) and then I get a pretty long break for my vacation. :)

I checked our pool yesterday it was in the low 70's, as well. Like you, we have to wait until the water is in the 80-90 range before we can get in. DD is dying to get in, she really really loves the pool. I am researching this week to enroll her in swim lessons.

When my boys were little, we always did swim lessons through the City of Chandler. Less expensive, great instructors, small groups. We only stopped because as they got older and were much better swimmers, they also started playing club soccer, tennis, and acting. The time and money both went away. But we still love to go to Hamilton pool for the slides, Folley Pool for the lack of crowds (when the kids were little, they have an awesome little kid pool). We haven't made it to Mesquite Groves yet, but since it is so close to home, we plan on spending a lot of time there this summer!

Another option for good swim lessons that may be close to you is Seville. I know that the neighborhood pool is private, but they used to offer lessons to non-members at a pretty good rate. They also had a pretty competitive swim team for a while.

Hi all! Sorry i've been under the radar for a lil while! Work has had me consumed! I simply cant wait for this trip!!!:thumbsup2 Im in Orlando right now for a trade show and went to downtown Disney last night....wish I had time for a park or two, ho hum, guess i'll have to wait....grrrrrr!
Just booked our flights last night!! Yipeeee!! (being here really got to me!) We got flights for all 4 of us for less than 1000.00 . Not bad for flying out of Portland I think? We're coming in late on the 8th, playing by the pool all day friday at the hotel (not reserved yet) and plan on hitting MNSSHP that night in our Pirate garb. I was able to get us some REALLY cool costumes at one of my last trade shows in Vegas so I figure we may as well use em all we can.
Anyway, I threw myself to a timeshare guy yesterday and was able to score 2 park hopper passes to Universal/Islands & a hotel for the Sunday & Monday after we get back. I have never done a timeshare presentation down here, but it seems like a good deal to get the tickets & the stay.
After that, my clan will be leaving me in Orlando to work another tradeshow and I'll fy out on the 23rd....WHEW! It's going to be a whirlwind!:cloud9:
Im liking the FE names. Saw the artwork and really like the one of Mickey in front of the globe. I've had a bag of goodies going for a while now. Is there specific stlyes or types of gifts we're supposed to get?
I'm plannning our door magnets. Just got the Tinkerbelle Cricut Cartridge and am looking forward to seeing what i can make from that.
I started a Cricut class at my store last month. It's an ongoing theme for several 12x12 layouts....Minnie was last month, Goofy is this month and i'll be teaching Mickey in June. My customers are at my mercy for themes & certainly know what im doing with my family in October!! hehehe!
What else is new? Well, DD lost her 2 front teeth last week. She's hoping they come in by Oct. (i think she'll be good) and our DS just took 1st place in his division at the Oregon State Gymnastics Meet! Im beaming! Sorry!;)
Hope everyone is doing well! It's time for this board to get moving again!!
Cant wait to see you all...and those glorious red stacks!
TTFN!

Good Afternoon.....I am going on the Magic the week before all of you and I am shipping down some small sand toys(some Disney princess pails with shovels) but I don't wanna take them home. SO I am looking for a young family who I can leave them behind for. I figure why not someone else's kids get the fun. With the price of luggage on the planes maybe we can just keep passing these sand toys down the line. Pay it forward kinda. So whoever PM's me first I will keep u in mind and make sure of ur stateroom before I go so I can leave it for u through Cust service desk. I wish I would have thought of this on our other Disney cruises. Anyways I hope this can be of help to someone.

Back in 2004, one of our DIS group left a laminated, signed DIS banner with Guest Services for a specific guest on the next sailing, and when he went to claim it, GS claimed they had no record of it. So be aware that passing the toys on through Guest Services may or may not work.

Thanks for the info....I will make sure I check into it and find out the specifics so I can make sure they are handled properly. I will figure something out...I am kinda resourceful.

So, the tickets for MNSSHP are on sale now. I don't understand why some dates are "premium" and others are not. Does that mean they expect more people those evenings?? :confused3

Who is going to the party October 9th?

You can expect more party-goers on a Friday than on a Tuesday, yes. I was a little surprised by the jump in the cost of tickets, but it's still less than a full-day ticket and there are likely to be fewer people than during the day. We'll be there at 4pm sharp on the 9th!

I've read "rumors" that Disney won't allow MNSSHP folks in at 4 pm any more. Do you think that's true?

I have no idea. If they don't we'll make the most of the remaining six hours. We'll be closing down the park.

I've never been to WDW so if we get there at 4 and can't get in, what is close by to do while we wait until 7?

I think that there are always fun things to see and do around WDW. You could go to Downtown Disney or even over to the Boardwalk, depending on what you wanted to do.

You could stroll through the lobby of the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary, and/or the Polynesian resorts; I've never been there at Halloween, but at Christmas they are beautifully decorated, and I'd imagine the same for Halloween, just hop on the monorail from the Magic Kingdom. The monorail has two loops; one loop stops at these three resorts and the Magic Kingdom, the other goes to and through Epcot and back to the Ticket and Transportation Center. You can browse through the gift shops in the resorts, hang out on the beach at the Polynesian (but you aren't allowed to swim in the lake), and rent paddle boats. Check out this link to get more ideas: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/recreation/ You could take the launches over to the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness and check them (and the gift shops) out. Everything is beautifully themed and fun to explore. The Wilderness Lodge has its own version of Old Faithful geyser that "erupts" on the hour. I set my watch to Disney time while I'm there, lol!

Has anyone started planning excursions? If so, what are you looking at? We wanted to do doubloon last year, but Hurricane Omar didn't want us to and we skipped St. Thomas altogether, so we are thinking Doubloon on St. Thomas this time around. I kind of wanted to try the Skyride to Paradise Point. The views looked beautiful!

What are your plans?

I think DH and I are going to do the Skyride in St. Thomas, leave the kids on the ship. Isn't there a bar up top?

In St. Croix, I'm looking to tour a rum distillery. I don't think we're going to make official plans as much as we're just going to wing it. I don't want to get our hopes set on something and then have the ship diverted because of a storm.
