Following along. Can't wait to read more about your plans. We have a 2 week trip planned for the end of May and a 10 day planned for September. I did not have the energy to do a PTR for our May trip but have one going for September.
all the plans sound great! i'll keep my fingers crossed that the crowds aren't too bad on the holiday!
I didn't pay too much attention to it, but I saw something on themainstreetmouse.com about the parks starting magic bands for everyone soon, even people not staying on site. your friends might be able to get them for your trip. i'm not sure if that means they get to do FP+ also or not, but just thought i'd throw that out there.
The Garden Grill was a highlight for us on our last trip, it is fantastic I am sure you will love it! We also liked the pick a pearl in Japan.
We LOVED 'Ohana breakfast! (we must have similar tastes) I am not sure what they did to the eggs, but I had to force myself to stop eating them!Plus I think Lilo and Stitch are great interaction and who can beat meeting the mouse himself?
We skipped DTD this year, but it was the first time we ever did. I like going there, I think it really helps break up the vacation.
The pics of your girls shopping are too cute! Harper really looks like she is making the biggest decision of her life while shopping! So sweet.
The plans sound perfect so far! When I was writing my last PTR someone told me just knowing everything you know from being on the Dis puts you at a big advantage over most people, so I am sure you will navigate the crowds just fine.![]()
I think this sounds like a great down, no park day--except for that laundry part! I had my birthday on our trip and it is really fun to celebrate it at Disney. make sure to get her a birthday button. everybody will be telling her happy birthday all day long. it's pretty awesome!

Commenting on Day 1 plans:
I think a 6:10am flight sounds great. I will do just about anything to avoid a layover when I fly and getting in so early makes sure you can get the most out of your day.
I also think Epcot is a great choice when you don't have a fullday.
When we're at Epcot I don't feel quite so rushed and like I need to get things done! I love being able to meander our way around the World... and having a very early morning, it will be nice that we can take it as slow as we want!
We have never been to Akershus for dinner before but love the Princess breakfast. I actually think the Princess interaction at Akershus is better than the Castle.
We did dinner there our last trip and we too loved the interaction! My DD loved the parade they had with the princesses
Commenting on Day 2 Plans:
We have never been able to make Magic Kingdom work for us on day one for any of our trips! It is always day 2 or sometimes day 3. I would rather see it later than deals with hugh crowds.
I completely agree!
Not sure if you plan to do DTD at all for your trip but we did BBB there in 2012 for my cousins daughter and really loved it. That might be an option for you to get both girls in after Harper's bday.
I did think about doing BBB at DTD because we are doing it on Harper's birthday! But I knew that day we didn't really want to have any agenda other than breakfast... and I knew we probably wouldn't get there until later in the day and when shelling out the $$ for BBB I like to get my money's worth! Ha ha! I usually do it before our "princess" meal and since Akershus was the first day, I had to settle with doing it before 1900 Park Fare! I'm hoping that if we give her a present of a new dress and get her pixie dusted she won't know the difference... it also helps that she will be just 3! Crossing my fingers!
We will be eating at 1900 Park Fare for the first time for our September trip. I can not wait
You will love it!! Make sure you get some Strawberry Soup! Mmmmmmm!!!!!
Still catching up:
Commenting on Day 3 plans:
We were at Magic Kingdom on the Saturday of Memorial day weekend last year and it was not too bad. I think Sunday and Monday were worse.
Great to hear!!
I am interested to see what they do with FP+ for offsite guests now that they have completely shutdown the old FP system. I am so glad we have 2 weeks with just Kenny, Gabriel and I in May so I can learn the ropes before 9 of use head down in September.
You may need every day of those 2 weeks to learn the ropes! I'm so confused by it all!
Very exciting that you got BOG. Sendingthat you all get to sit together. I am debating between that and Ohana's for September. I am really nervous that there will not be enough selection on the menu to please all 9 people so I am considering trying for a FP+ for BOG for lunch???
I've heard that people have been less than thrilled with the dinner options at BOG... but we loved it! Was the best steak I've ever had! But... I do also think that just being in the castle, regardless of lunch or dinner, adds so much to the dining experience! I would say if you FP+ lunch and do 'Ohana for dinner instead wouldn't be a bad thing! You'd still get the castle experience (minus the beast) and you'd get to do 'Ohana too... like having two ADR's in one!
Commenting on Day 2
Epcot is a great choice for Sunday during Memorial day weekend. It has always been our choice in the past and has never felt crowded. We will be doing the same as you. FP+ Soarin and standby for Test Track. Not a fan of Tiering!!!
REALLY glad to hear this! It just stinks that the 2 days where we're going to have to account for 9 people instead of 6 are going to be probably the two most crowded days! Trying to be smart about park choices to make it not feel so bad!
La Cantina de San Angel is my second favorite CS restaurant (Flame Tree BBQ is my first) so we always eat there on Epcot days. I love the fact that you can sit inside and get a nice air conditioning break while enjoying lunch.
We usually eat lunch early and get a set by the window which makes for a nice view.
I can taste the chicken tacos now... mmmmmmm!!
We did Pick a Pearl in Japan during our 2011 trip and everyone enjoyed it. I bought cute little Cinderella coach necklesses from Ebay before the trip for $2 a piece and they have held up very well. The people at Pick a Pearl in Japan were more than happy to put our Pearls in for us.
Great tip about Ebay! I'll definitely have to check it out!
We ate at Garden Grill our last trip and really enjoyed it. Character hunting is a big think for me while we are at Disney and the characters at this meal do a great job. The food was also very good (especially the starting salad).
Here is a couple pictures of what the neckless looked like that we got on Ebay for our pick a pearl so you can get an idea of what they look like.
I love those necklaces! I did pick a pearl in Japan (twice actually) and it was fun. I did actually pick 2 pearls but only had 1 set. Lost it thoughI want to do it again our next trip. I think your girls will love it!
Let's see... where were we? I believe that we just finished our relaxing day of swimming and shopping till we drop, so that can mean only one thing! It's time for Day 6! Where will Day 6 be spent? At the one park that we had to neglect our last trip due to Addie whining 24/7 about wanting to swim!
Tuesday May 27th
Animal Kingdom it is! Of all the parks, this is the park we have neglected the most. Didn't visit it at all our last trip and our first trip we just spent a half-day here. Pretty much all we did was hang out in Africa, ride the Safari, meet some characters and do It's a Bug's Life. But now... Addison is tall enough to ride some rides!
So this will be the first trip that Addison is tall enough for...
Expedition Everest!
I think we will try to FP+ the safari, Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids. So I'm thinking we'll do the Safari bright and early, then head over to Expedition Everest! We will have to do a Rider Swap for this one because Harper is too little to ride... so I'm thinking we'll have Addie go with us (yes, me included...) and we'll get the rider swap. Then if she likes it, she can ride again with grandma and grandpa... if not, grandma and grandpa can ride it by themselves. But maybe grandpa will have to ride the first ride with all of us to sit by Addie and only leave grandma behind... because I might need to hold my DH's hand.
No... I'm serious.
After E.E. we'll see what the wait time is for Dinosaur. Another one we've never done... and hopefully it doesn't freak Addie out too much! While we do E.E. and Dinosaur, whoever isn't on the ride will probably hang out with Harper at the Boneyard. After we get those rides down we'll see what time it is and try to fit in whatever else we'd like! One thing I do know is that when it's lunch time, we are heading to Flame Tree BBQ! Pulled Pork sandwich is calling my name!
We will probably try to leave the park around 1-2 to get back and nap. Now if we find out from the first few days that Harper won't nap, then we'll stay a little longer. But right before leaving time we'll schedule our FP+ for Kali River Rapids... just in case we get soaked
So in no particular order, here are the things I'm hoping we can accomplish while we're there!
Safari, Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, Flame Tree BBQ, Kali River Rapids, Nemo Show and some of the trails! I know this may be ambitious for our time there, but we'll just play it by ear!
So then after Kali River Rapids we'll head back to the resort! We plan on there being enough time for nap time... but if nobody will nap then we'll just have down time at Pop until it's time to leave for our dinner ADR! We have a 6:50 ADR at...
Whispering Canyon Cafe!
This will be another restaurant that we've never eaten at! I'm VERY excited to explore the Wilderness Lodge!
After dinner we have to head back to Magic Kingdom to get back to a Pop bus... and depending on how everyone feels, maybe we'll head into the park and play for a bit! They just extended the park hours until midnight, so it sounds like a good time to me! But... we do have an early day the next day, so maybe we'll just head back. Only time will tell!
