10 Nights, 9 Days, 2 Birthdays and 1 Magical May 2014 Vacation! **Complete 6-10**

Following along. Can't wait to read more about your plans. We have a 2 week trip planned for the end of May and a 10 day planned for September. I did not have the energy to do a PTR for our May trip but have one going for September.

Thanks for following along!!

2 whole weeks... how wonderful! This 10 day trip is the longest we've been on and I'm super excited about it! I'd probably die if we were there for 2 weeks! I'll have to go check our your September PTR :)

Before I dive into our Day 4 plans, some exciting to things to share with you! Well... at least I'm excited :)

First to put a smile on your face, just have to share the picture our TA posted on my Facebook page...

 *Swoon* Now how does that not make you smile??

When posting on Facebook when we first booked our trip way back when my DD's old baby-sitter, who is also a girl that I went to high school with, told me that they were leaving the same day as us for their own trip! I was excited knowing that they were going to be down there the same dates as us! Well... I found out the other day that not only are they going down there the same dates as us, they're on our same flight!!! And on top of that, they're staying at AoA and we're at Pop... and the last time we stayed at AoA, those two shared a MDE bus with CBR! So since Southwest is open seating, we get to sit by them AND then ride on the same MDE bus as them! :goodvibes

They'll be traveling with a party of 17... yes, 17! So we may not meet up with them a lot while we're there, but we will be in the same parks like 4 days of their trip (they'll be there 7 and we're there 10) so maybe we'll bump into them! And now we've got an excuse to use the Nemo pool because we plan to meet up with them for a pool day at some point!! :cheer2::cool1::cheer2::cool1::cheer2:

Now... onto the show :thumbsup2

Day 4, Sunday May 25th

Today will be our last day with our Miami friends! And I've heard that Memorial Day weekend can be on the crowded side, so today we picked the park that *I've heard* absorbs the crowd the best...

Epcot!

Gotta love my barefoot baby... she sure is my summer child! As soon as she plops down in the stroller, the shoes come off. Makes life a little difficult when you're constantly getting in and out of it!

We plan to get there at Rope Drop, and at some point our friends will most likely meet us there. We will probably head to the rides that we won't have FP+ for. I'm assuming we'll probably FP+ Soarin' and then try to ride Test Track stand-by when park opens. Dang you Epcot tiering! :furious:

So we'll hang around the Future World and hit up all we can before The World Showcase opens up! Once we can travel the World, I'm guess we will head left and hit up boat rides... can you believe I've been to Disney twice and have never ridden either one of these?!? I also have not been able to stay for Illuminations!! *gasp*

So we'll head left and travel the World, stopping to eat lunch first! And I don't know where everybody else plans to eat... but La Cantina de San Angel is calling my name! I loved our lunch there back in April, so it's a must do again for me! After that we'll browse through the Pavilions and I really want to Pick-A-Pearl in Japan :) I think that would be so much fun for the girls! Then of course when we get to France I have to stop by...

Thank you mouse for less for sharing your pic with me ;)

Must get a crepe! I've been dreaming about one since our last trip :)

Hopefully we can make it over to France before it's time to head back to Pop for nap/rest/swim time because I'm thinking that will be a must for this day, especially with all the walking around the World! So we'll go back and hang out for a bit before we regroup and head back to Epcot for our dinner ADR!

So I'm thinking we'll schedule our FP+ for just before and after dinner and we'll keep them all over towards the Land Pavilion. Makes sense because we'll be eating at The Garden Grill! We have a 6:30 ADR here!

Thank you Disney for the use of your picture :)

We've never eaten here, but I've heard nothing but great things! I'm hoping we love it and that our friends little guy does great with his first character meal!!

After dinner, hopefully the kids will be in good spirits, we'll maybe do another FP+ and then head to find a spot for Illuminations! Depending on the time, maybe browse a few of the countries to the right on our way to a good viewing spot!

Whew... what a day! I'm exhausted just thinking about it all! I'm just glad that we'll have more days here because I KNOW we won't get everything done and we will have time to revisit everything later in the trip!

all the plans sound great! i'll keep my fingers crossed that the crowds aren't too bad on the holiday!

I didn't pay too much attention to it, but I saw something on themainstreetmouse.com about the parks starting magic bands for everyone soon, even people not staying on site. your friends might be able to get them for your trip. i'm not sure if that means they get to do FP+ also or not, but just thought i'd throw that out there.

Man, I'm really hoping they're not too ridiculous! I've never been over a "holiday" before... and I don't think I'd survive Christmas or New Years! Ha ha!

It would be great if our friends would just book a room at Pop for a few nights with us. That would make life sooooo much easier! Hopefully it will all work out!

Our very special Day 5... our baby girl's 3rd birthday!! :bday:

Monday May 26th

This day just so happens to be Memorial Day as well... so in fear of ridiculous crowds, we are taking this day "off". This is also in the middle of our park days so I'm thinking it's going to be a wonderful thing. We've never had a day where we have skipped going to a park! So it will be nice knowing we've got time to do Downtown Disney without feeling like we're rushed to do it!

Even though this is a "down" day, that does not mean we don't have big plans! :cheer2: We have to celebrate our baby girl's birthday after all!!

Since we will have said good-bye to our friends last night, it will be just us 4, grandma and grandpa now! What's better than celebrating your birthday with your mom, dad, big sister, grandma and grandpa at Disney World!! Not much, but maybe getting to eat breakfast with some of your favorite characters would do the trick!

Borrowed from the fabulous internet :)

We will be heading to the Polynesian for 'Ohana's Best Friends Breakfast! I thought maybe having a later ADR would be better for us. I was anticipating a late night the night before and I thought that maybe if it was a later ADR it would tide us over to dinner a bit, so we can just "snack" for lunch. So we have a 10:15 ADR. This will be the first time we have eaten here and it was the only one my MIL told me she really wanted to eat at because her "teacher friends" love it... so we are all really excited!

After breakfast we have no real set plans!! I have ideas of what will probably happen... but if it doesn't go according to "plan" then so be it! That's the beauty of today! :yay:

Although, I do think some of this might be in store... :laundy:. Ughhh... I know, laundry should not be allowed on vacation, but since we'll be there for 10 days I think it will be something I can't avoid! Bummer. I know the pool will be in the plans for today, so I'm thinking it will be a perfect time to do the dreaded colors and whites.

Pool will definitely be on the agenda as well as Downtown Disney. Of course we have to get our shop on... poor DH living in a house full of girls :)

My in-laws have not been to Downtown Disney, so this will be a first for them! Our first trip with them they left a day earlier than us, and we went there on our last day. But even though we've been there twice we haven't eaten there! So that's where we will most likely be eating dinner! It's a toss up between

Borrowed again!

and

Borrowed again!

We will just have to see what everyone feels like :)

After Downtown Disney we will head back to the resort. Maybe we'll make it back for a movie by the pool or maybe we'll call it an early night to make sure we're all rested for the next day when we jump back into touring the parks!! What park will be in the plans?? I guess you'll have to wait and see :)

The Garden Grill was a highlight for us on our last trip, it is fantastic I am sure you will love it! We also liked the pick a pearl in Japan.

We LOVED 'Ohana breakfast! (we must have similar tastes) I am not sure what they did to the eggs, but I had to force myself to stop eating them!:rotfl2: Plus I think Lilo and Stitch are great interaction and who can beat meeting the mouse himself?

We skipped DTD this year, but it was the first time we ever did. I like going there, I think it really helps break up the vacation.

The pics of your girls shopping are too cute! Harper really looks like she is making the biggest decision of her life while shopping! So sweet.

The plans sound perfect so far! When I was writing my last PTR someone told me just knowing everything you know from being on the Dis puts you at a big advantage over most people, so I am sure you will navigate the crowds just fine.:thumbsup2

Looks like we do have similar tastes! I've heard nothing but great things about the Garden Grill and 'Ohana (both breakfast and dinner!) and I've been wanting to try them out... and finally have an opportunity to do so this trip! I'm honestly sooooooo excited about our ADR's! I think this is the first of our three trips where I made ADR's at the 180 day mark and haven't changed them... and I have no intention to! I'm excited to try out some new restaurants and explore some new resorts! Maybe, just maybe, my DH will fall in love with a resort and I'll be able to convince him to try out a Deluxe one of these trips :) We'll see! Ha ha!

Harper was in absolute heaven! She went in and just started grabbing everything! She really is cute sometimes... when she's not being 2 that is ;)

I'm glad you think my plans look good! It all seems great in my head, but it's nice to see that others think the same thing! And I totally agree with you about being on the Dis gives you an advantage over others! I know sooooo much more than anybody I talk Disney with! In fact, a co-worker just came to me the other day to help semi plan her trip for the beginning of May. I told her she just opened a can of worms because I could go on and on! Our brief conversation changed her mind about a few things, that to quote her, "I naively threw together!". I'm definitely hoping all the knowledge helps out in the crowds!

I think this sounds like a great down, no park day--except for that laundry part! I had my birthday on our trip and it is really fun to celebrate it at Disney. make sure to get her a birthday button. everybody will be telling her happy birthday all day long. it's pretty awesome!

We will totally have to get her one! And my FIL too! I might make him wear his all week ;)

Catching up:

Commenting on Day 1 plans:
I think a 6:10am flight sounds great. I will do just about anything to avoid a layover when I fly and getting in so early makes sure you can get the most out of your day.

I also think Epcot is a great choice when you don't have a fullday.

We have never been to Akershus for dinner before but love the Princess breakfast. I actually think the Princess interaction at Akershus is better than the Castle.

Commenting on Day 2 Plans:
We have never been able to make Magic Kingdom work for us on day one for any of our trips! It is always day 2 or sometimes day 3. I would rather see it later than deals with hugh crowds.

Not sure if you plan to do DTD at all for your trip but we did BBB there in 2012 for my cousins daughter and really loved it. That might be an option for you to get both girls in after Harper's bday.

I am struggling with FP+ and I am with you. There are few that plan more than me but I am not onboard with the level of planning that FP+ requires.

We will be eating at 1900 Park Fare for the first time for our September trip. I can not wait:cool1:

Still catching up:

Commenting on Day 3 plans:
We were at Magic Kingdom on the Saturday of Memorial day weekend last year and it was not too bad. I think Sunday and Monday were worse.

I am interested to see what they do with FP+ for offsite guests now that they have completely shutdown the old FP system. I am so glad we have 2 weeks with just Kenny, Gabriel and I in May so I can learn the ropes before 9 of use head down in September.

Very exciting that you got BOG. Sending pixiedust: that you all get to sit together. I am debating between that and Ohana's for September. I am really nervous that there will not be enough selection on the menu to please all 9 people so I am considering trying for a FP+ for BOG for lunch???

Commenting on Day 2
Epcot is a great choice for Sunday during Memorial day weekend. It has always been our choice in the past and has never felt crowded. We will be doing the same as you. FP+ Soarin and standby for Test Track. Not a fan of Tiering!!!

La Cantina de San Angel is my second favorite CS restaurant (Flame Tree BBQ is my first) so we always eat there on Epcot days. I love the fact that you can sit inside and get a nice air conditioning break while enjoying lunch.
We usually eat lunch early and get a set by the window which makes for a nice view.

We did Pick a Pearl in Japan during our 2011 trip and everyone enjoyed it. I bought cute little Cinderella coach necklesses from Ebay before the trip for $2 a piece and they have held up very well. The people at Pick a Pearl in Japan were more than happy to put our Pearls in for us.

We ate at Garden Grill our last trip and really enjoyed it. Character hunting is a big think for me while we are at Disney and the characters at this meal do a great job. The food was also very good (especially the starting salad).

When we're at Epcot I don't feel quite so rushed and like I need to get things done! I love being able to meander our way around the World... and having a very early morning, it will be nice that we can take it as slow as we want!

We have never been to Akershus for dinner before but love the Princess breakfast. I actually think the Princess interaction at Akershus is better than the Castle.

We did dinner there our last trip and we too loved the interaction! My DD loved the parade they had with the princesses :)

I did think about doing BBB at DTD because we are doing it on Harper's birthday! But I knew that day we didn't really want to have any agenda other than breakfast... and I knew we probably wouldn't get there until later in the day and when shelling out the $$ for BBB I like to get my money's worth! Ha ha! I usually do it before our "princess" meal and since Akershus was the first day, I had to settle with doing it before 1900 Park Fare! I'm hoping that if we give her a present of a new dress and get her pixie dusted she won't know the difference... it also helps that she will be just 3! Crossing my fingers!

We will be eating at 1900 Park Fare for the first time for our September trip. I can not wait:cool1:

You will love it!! Make sure you get some Strawberry Soup! Mmmmmmm!!!!!

You may need every day of those 2 weeks to learn the ropes! I'm so confused by it all!

I've heard that people have been less than thrilled with the dinner options at BOG... but we loved it! Was the best steak I've ever had! But... I do also think that just being in the castle, regardless of lunch or dinner, adds so much to the dining experience! I would say if you FP+ lunch and do 'Ohana for dinner instead wouldn't be a bad thing! You'd still get the castle experience (minus the beast) and you'd get to do 'Ohana too... like having two ADR's in one! :)

REALLY glad to hear this! It just stinks that the 2 days where we're going to have to account for 9 people instead of 6 are going to be probably the two most crowded days! Trying to be smart about park choices to make it not feel so bad!

Great tip about Ebay! I'll definitely have to check it out!

I am VERY excited about this ADR! The menu looks fantastic and who doesn't love Chip and Dale :) Our friends initially were only planning on doing BOG with us, but then she saw the menu for G.G. and they changed their mind! She said it looked too awesome to pass up! Can't wait!

I love those necklaces! I did pick a pearl in Japan (twice actually) and it was fun. I did actually pick 2 pearls but only had 1 set. Lost it though :( I want to do it again our next trip. I think your girls will love it!

Here is a couple pictures of what the neckless looked like that we got on Ebay for our pick a pearl so you can get an idea of what they look like.

Thank you!! Those are perfect! I showed my hubby and he agrees :) I actually think I'm going to get one for me, my MIL, my oldest DD (almost 6) and *maybe* my youngest DD (turning 3 on the trip). I thought that would be a great keepsake for all of us! Our trip is 11 days after Mother's Day... so I think we'll give it to my MIL for Mother's Day and pay for her "Pick a Pearl" too!

Oh no!! So sad you lost it! You should do it again :) I'm debating whether or not to have my youngest (turning 3 on the trip) do it too. She definitely won't "get" it and most likely won't wear the necklace... so maybe we can get her something else fun. But then again, it would be nice if all 4 of us (my, my girls and my MIL) had matching necklaces! Oh, what to do... what to do!

Let's see... where were we? I believe that we just finished our relaxing day of swimming and shopping till we drop, so that can mean only one thing! It's time for Day 6! Where will Day 6 be spent? At the one park that we had to neglect our last trip due to Addie whining 24/7 about wanting to swim!

Tuesday May 27th

Animal Kingdom it is! Of all the parks, this is the park we have neglected the most. Didn't visit it at all our last trip and our first trip we just spent a half-day here. Pretty much all we did was hang out in Africa, ride the Safari, meet some characters and do It's a Bug's Life. But now... Addison is tall enough to ride some rides!

Let me just give you a little background on my Addie-pie! On her first trip she was all about riding some roller coasters and I was very apprehensive about how it was going to go. DH is a coaster lover, but I on the other hand am not! I didn't know if she was going to be a mini-Derek or mini-mommy... so I thought we'd start her out on the Barnstormer! She insisted on sitting with my SIL in the car behind my MIL and myself. After the ride was over I looked back at her and her eyes were as big as saucers... and she looked like she was about to cry. So I said, "Addie, are you okay?" And she replied, "Can we do that again?!?" That's how my coaster loving child was born!

I've never really been the thrill ride kind of person, but I love seeing everyone's ride photos and I am determined to but some big girl undies on and at least TRY them this trip! I can't say that I do not like something, unless I try it... right??

So this will be the first trip that Addison is tall enough for...

Borrowed from internet :)

Expedition Everest!

I think we will try to FP+ the safari, Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids. So I'm thinking we'll do the Safari bright and early, then head over to Expedition Everest! We will have to do a Rider Swap for this one because Harper is too little to ride... so I'm thinking we'll have Addie go with us (yes, me included... :scared1:) and we'll get the rider swap. Then if she likes it, she can ride again with grandma and grandpa... if not, grandma and grandpa can ride it by themselves. But maybe grandpa will have to ride the first ride with all of us to sit by Addie and only leave grandma behind... because I might need to hold my DH's hand. :rotfl2: No... I'm serious.

After E.E. we'll see what the wait time is for Dinosaur. Another one we've never done... and hopefully it doesn't freak Addie out too much! While we do E.E. and Dinosaur, whoever isn't on the ride will probably hang out with Harper at the Boneyard. After we get those rides down we'll see what time it is and try to fit in whatever else we'd like! One thing I do know is that when it's lunch time, we are heading to Flame Tree BBQ! Pulled Pork sandwich is calling my name!

We will probably try to leave the park around 1-2 to get back and nap. Now if we find out from the first few days that Harper won't nap, then we'll stay a little longer. But right before leaving time we'll schedule our FP+ for Kali River Rapids... just in case we get soaked :)

So in no particular order, here are the things I'm hoping we can accomplish while we're there!

Safari, Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, Flame Tree BBQ, Kali River Rapids, Nemo Show and some of the trails! I know this may be ambitious for our time there, but we'll just play it by ear!

So then after Kali River Rapids we'll head back to the resort! We plan on there being enough time for nap time... but if nobody will nap then we'll just have down time at Pop until it's time to leave for our dinner ADR! We have a 6:50 ADR at...

Whispering Canyon Cafe!

This will be another restaurant that we've never eaten at! I'm VERY excited to explore the Wilderness Lodge!

After dinner we have to head back to Magic Kingdom to get back to a Pop bus... and depending on how everyone feels, maybe we'll head into the park and play for a bit! They just extended the park hours until midnight, so it sounds like a good time to me! But... we do have an early day the next day, so maybe we'll just head back. Only time will tell!

Sounds like a good day to me...oh how I wish my dd was tall enough for E.E. she is going to miss it by about an inch, unless she has some major growth spurt between now and may. I like that idea of playing by ear going back to a park. I hadn't thought of that and since we will have to take a bus to a park from some of our ADRs, that is something I will just have to consider. Thanks for the heads up on that one :thumbsup2
