10 months to go and 60 pounds to loose.Update 1/2/11 Page 38

Nickie - I am loving the top 25 list so far! What a great idea - although I have no idea how you went about ranking things!!! That would be hard!

Looking forward to #19!!! :goodvibes

Sara

Hi Sara! You are correct!!! Ranking these was very difficult. We had to use the "do u like this MORE or LESS" :rotfl: Also if they jumped up and down several times when they mentioned something new that went right up towards the top. :goodvibes

So no ticker for you!!?? I think you should make a trip for the last week of January and we can have a DIS Meet!:thumbsup2

Are you serious? This is horrible. I can say this is another dumb move. UGH!!!! :sad2::sad2::sad2:

Love the boys pick of riding the monorail! We rode in the front once but we did not get the license. Oh well.

Kidcot is fun for the kids and for the parents. Keeps them busy while the parents find a few adult drinks. ;)

I know- I REALLY hope they change their minds on that one! It is really annoying beccause part of me feels like they are just trying to get more people to buy the picture! We go to Chef Mickey's for the characters not the food!!

Well I am back with another update! Number 19 on the Kids Top 25 List is:

The Doubloon Lagoon!!!!!

WDWMAY2009-Panasonic9mp116.jpg

Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter features the Doubloon Lagoon swimming pool which has a sea-serpent themed water slide that is jockeyed by King Triton. The pool is surrounded by Alligators that spray water, a HotTub, Kiddie Pool, The Mardi Grogs Pool Bar and a Children's Playground. This is such a fun area at the hotel and one we look forward to visiting on our next trip - let's hope they don't have another unseasonably cold winter!!!

POFQpool01.jpg

We have made some great memories at this pool. One that sticks out is Myles deciding he could finally go down the slide and then once he did he couldn't stop. Hopefully this year Owen will too! Also swimming at night after a long day in the parks has always been so much fun and a great way to relax at the end of a day! I know I am looking forward to sitting in that hot tub with a glass of wine!:cloud9:

Hey-wait!! You have a new ticker!! Did you decide to do October '11?? Awesome!!!- I don't know how I missed that !!!

Love reading this...I hope you summarize them in your very last post just in case I miss any. :goodvibes I take it your Patriots party wasn't the best?? Maybe the party but the game was painful! You take wonderful pictures as well. Thanks for sharing. :thumbsup2

Epcot is so fun! And kidcot, thanks for that tip and link. My girls (who are little artists and collectors) would love that! :)

Have never seen #19 before, because we've never stayed there- looks like so much fun! :thumbsup2

And ditto CCGIRL's suggestion of a recap at the end of the countdown.

Hey GLEEK! That Ticker has always been there..... I am in denial and I am not taking it off - because if I find a really good job I think I am going to try to swing a long weekend in Disney!

Great Idea!! I will do up a little summary in my last post!!:goodvibes

Yes that was a tough one to watch. My three year old cried!:scared1: He is a little crazy about football!

Hi!!
I am glad the link helped you out! I love learning new things about Disney!!

Make sure to try out POR pool too.

The cm's have the little tokens that go on the masks. They do make the masks a bit too heavy though. Madeline's mask has fallen off the stick both times we've gotten one.

Dayne loved that pool!!! He told me he can't wait to go back to the POFQ one day to slide again! He was going on about how cool and big it was...think he may be disappointed the day he does return to see how it shrinks in the eyes of an adult from the memory of a four year old...:rotfl2:

I hope to make memories with Ashton there next time we go!
:wave2: Connie

Oh I think I know what they mean by the tokens now- they all hang off the mask right!? We did get those. Remember that was our "Drinking around the World" day - it is a bit foggy!:rotfl:

We went to POR before- we love that pool!! I actually wanted to go there but was out voted by the kids and hubby. I plan to walk over to POR a couple times though.....for swimming, fishing, boats, food court, and campfire!

I have never seen pics of that pool. I'm not sure if it is cool or scary! :rotfl:

The whole resort is kind of like that!:rotfl: is that scary or cool!? Especially the food court!!!

awww- I hope you can make some memories with Ashton there on your next trip! Dayne can walk over to POR - that slide is much larger!!

EXTRA MAGIC HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

runningtocastle-1.jpg

So this was mentioned by Holly our niece who will be joining us on this trip and who we have to fight to get an answer from on everything because she always says "whatever is fine" (she is a very sweet 16 year old and loves to please:goodvibes ) So because she was so excited for this one and then the kids were all excited by it, I thought I had to include it in the Top 25!! I also am pretty excited about it, although I think I am more excited about the Empty Park Pictures, and the kids are all excited about staying up in the MK until 11PM!

IMG_1827-1.jpg

On this trip like many before..... we will have an 8:05ADR at the CRYSTAL PALACE! But on this trip there will be 14 of us getting our picture taken infront of the castle!!

IMG_1834.jpg

I made t-shirts for everyone and I must say they came out AWESOME!!!!!!! They are red and they each have our logo created by a very creative person from the DISigns thread!! They are red shirts and each person has their own name on their tee!

DisneyTeeNickie-1.jpg

We plan to spend the ENTIRE day at the MK! After the 3:00 parade, we will hop on the boat and head over to the WL for dinner at Whispering Canyon. After dinner, we will take the boat back to the MK for WISHES and late night EMH!! We really want to ride Big Thunder and Jungle Cruise and go on Haunted Mansion at night!

HIDDEN MICKEYS!

m1ckeym0use1-2.jpg
Here is a really cool guide to finding Hidden Mickeys! I am considering buying this book. It would be cool to know where the Mickeys are and check off the ones we see.

(Taken from PassPorter)

Hidden Mickeys
Believe it or not, Disney intentionally hides "Mickeys" all over the place! The internationally-recognized Mickey Mouse head (one big circle and two smaller circles for the ears) has been discovered hidden in murals, fences, shows—you name it, you can probably find a Mickey hidden somewhere in it!

Finding these Hidden Mickeys can be a fun adventure in itself. Much of Jennifer's first and second trips to Walt Disney World were spent scouting for Hidden Mickeys, and we both continue to delight in finding a new Hidden Mickey on our trips!

We have two schools of thoughts when it comes to finding Hidden Mickeys:

1. Go to Walt Disney World without any knowledge of WHERE to find Hidden Mickeys, relying only on your own observational skills to discover them. This is, of course, the most challenging option.

2. Read about your fellow vacationers' discoveries before you go so you know exactly where to look for various Hidden Mickeys. We recommend you use the links on the right to find a list (or two) of Hidden Mickeys that interests you, print it out, and place it in your PassPorter to take with you!

Either way you do it, hunting for Hidden Mickeys is fun and rewarding.

We are pretty excited about finding some new hidden Mickeys! Myles was really starting to get into it on the last trip.

I love the picture you chose! such a sweet and innocent shot...
we love hidden Mickey's -- I was thinking of getting that one too! it would be fun to have a field guide to help in the hunt!!! :mickeyjum

Have a great day!
great countdown...

Thanks Connie!! I think that book might be a good xmas present idea. Yes I am already thinking of xmas and have bought a few gifts already!!:scared1:

Good morning all! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We have a busy one planned around here..... first I need to go for my run. I am on Day 2, of Week 7 on the C25K! :cool1: I still CAN'T believe I am running 25 minutes! Then we have Myles football game at 11 and then we have a birthday party tonight. Busy Busy!!

Not too much to update on the trip. I almost finished the binders I am making for everyone. I will take a picture when they are done. I also completed my spreadsheet and printed it all out for everyone. I LOVE it!! :lovestruc I look back to my first trip and the spreadsheet I made to this years spreadsheet and it cracks me up! I had NO clue back then!! I will have to post a picture of my spreadsheet - yes I am a dork and LOVE spreadsheets.

In the job front I have an interview for a really awesome company here in Boston. It's the Greater Boston Food Bank and they do some pretty amazing things to fight hunger. I would love to be a part of it. Let's just hope I am chosen for the job!!:goodvibes

ok, ok!! I know you are all waiting for the Kids Top 25 List -

NUMBER 16 is................................

ELECTRIC WATER PAGEANT

IMG_0876.jpg

My kids picked the Electric Water Pageant for number 16. They truly LOVE this parade. When we stayed at the Poly last year we were so spoiled because we would hear that music start up and the kids would go nuts! Because our room faced the lagoon we would sit out on the balcony each night and watch the parade go out and then as we were falling asleep it was usually coming back home. It was really something special!

My favorite memory of the Electric Water Pageant was the first time we saw it.... I had read a little about it but wasn't really looking forward to it and it wasn't something on our "must see" or even "see" list. After our dinner at Chef Mickeys we decided to take the monorail over to the Poly to see if we could catch Wishes from the beach. We picked up a couple Mai Tai's and headed down to the beach and found this swing right on the beach. There were tiki torches lit all around and as we sat down Wishes started. It was MAGICAL! When Wishes was just about over, we could see the floats going out into the lagoon..... we were not really sure what it was and then all of a sudden it was all lit up and the music started. It was SOOOOOOO COOL!!!! Something we will never forget.

IMG_1782.jpg

For those of you not too familiar with the Water Pageant here is some info I took off of Allears.net

The Electrical Water Pageant is a nightly display that makes its circuit around Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake for the Magic Kingdom area resorts.

The pageant consists of two strings of seven barges, each carrying a 25-foot-tall screen of lights. The pageant features King Triton and creatures from under the sea -- turtles, whales, seahorses, even a sea monster! -- in an aquatic parade set to Disney (including "Under the Sea," and the crocodile's theme song from the film Peter Pan) and other music.

Flags and Stars -- The pageant concludes with an inspirational salute to America, with Flags and Stars set to a patriotic musical medley of God Bless America, Yankee Doodle, and You're a Grand Old Flag.

It was originally presented for the dedication of the Polynesian Luau on October 26, 1971.

Although the pageant generally follows the schedule below, check with the Guest Services Desk at your Magic Kingdom Resort for times during your stay. Inclement weather can cause cancellation of the pageant.

Polynesian Resort -- 9 p.m.
Grand Floridian -- 9:15 p.m.
Wilderness Lodge -- 9:35 p.m.
Fort Wilderness -- 9:45 p.m.
Contemporary Resort -- 10:05 p.m.
Magic Kingdom -- 10:20 p.m. (only during extended MK park
hours)

Note that when the Magic Kingdom Fireworks are scheduled for 9 p.m., the Electrical Water Pageant runs about 7-20 minutes later.

"When nightfall engulfs Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon at Walt Disney World, a brightly-lighted electrical fantasy beams to life. A crew of sailors ulike any that sailed the seven seas man their boats to present the Electrical Water Pageant, a show that uses more than 50,000 light bulbs to tell its story.

The pageant, composed of fourteen, 40-foot long lighted floats, presents a picture of leaping dolphins, and an array of other sea life, designs and flags. Four outboard motors propel the craft which are mounted with separate lighting generators and an 800-watt sound system.

Crewmen maintaining the pageant boats must replace between 100 to 1500 light bulbs weekly to keep the sea serpents and dolphins alive." (From the December 1974 Walt Disney World News)

I am hoping to knock out the majority in a few weeks...I ordered and received the Leapfrog Word Launcher for Ashton's friends this past week (two down)...

the ELP was on our list for our April visit and I scratched when my parents joined us...so, I am looking forward to it on our next visit!
