P.S. Your girls are adorable, and really look like they were having a great time!

Thank You!! I think they were the prettiest girls in all of DisneyWorld (OK - maybe I'm a little biased) ;) :sunny:

This is one of the most complete and informative review threads I have ever seen. Thank you for your efforts and for taking the time to do this ofr us all.

Day 6 - Breakfast (Everything POP) and afternoon snack (Min & Bill’s Dockside Diner)

DH went to the food court again and brought back a chocolate chip pancakes with bacon
platter, mug refills, and a milk chug to the room. I had purchased a box of Entemann’s doughnuts the night before, so we shared the pancakes and doughnuts (I know, this is all very nutritious). The doughnuts are a great snack value – you get 8 full sized doughnuts (4 varieties); we snacked on these for 2 days! And I love the chocolate chip pancakes. Again, great “fuel” to start our day and we were full.

Cost – 1 CS credit = $8.59 and 1 snack credit = $4.04

We stopped by Min & Bill’s Dockside Diner for an apple cinnamon stuffed pretzel, a plain pretzel, a chocolate shake, and a large Coke for our afternoon snack. All good and kept us satisfied until our early dinner. The stuffed pretzels were also a good value for a snack credit ~ I really appreciated the expansion of snacks on the dining plan this year! Basically, if it’s under $4, you can use a snack credit. We got a little bored last year with the ice cream carts!

Cost – 3 CS credits = $10.62 and OOP $2.55 for Coke

Day 6 Dinner – Mama Melrose Fantasmic Package

Our ADR was at 4:20, we arrived around 4:15 and were seated within 5 minutes at a large table in the center of the restaurant. The atmosphere here is kind of like a pizza parlor – there’s a big pizza oven at the front of the restaurant along with the ovens for the other items. It’s open, so everyone can see the food being cooked and it fills the restaurant with wonderful smells! Our server was Jessica – very friendly and efficient.

Starters for everyone – 1 four cheese flatbread, 1 pepperoni & green pepper flatbread (no onions); and large field green salad. These were good, nothing GREAT. I personally prefer iceberg lettuce over field greens, so I didn’t have any of the salad. Everyone else thought it was “OK”. The flatbreads were yummy.

Me – Spaghetti Fra Diavolo (with clams, mussels, calamari, & shrimp), Coffee Tartufo
DH – Spicy Italian Sausage, hazelnut cheesecake
DB – Veal Osso Buco, hazelnut cheesecake
DSIL – Chicken ala Parmigiana, warm chocolate truffle cake
DD7 – “Just Dip It”
DD2 – shared with everyone

Starting with DD7’s “Just Dip It” – this was one of the “new” kid’s meals (first time we saw this) and was shown with fruit, vegetables, yogurt, & chicken salad. DD7 does not like raw veggies, so I asked if she could just get all fruit – no problem. She also got vanilla gelato instead of chicken salad. She (along with her sister) really enjoyed this! I don’t think I would be happy with the kid’s meal choices every night, but this was something different on our trip and was light and nutritious. She dipped the fruits in the yogurt, and there was a lot of fruit. We carried some of the pineapple chunks with us and she ate them later. If I was paying OOP, however, I would not be happy as this meal is listed as $7.49, but you pay $10.99 on the Fantasmic package for the same exact meal.

DB REALLY enjoyed his veal, he said it was the best he’s ever eaten! And DSIL ate about half of her Chicken ala Parmigiana, which is a lot for her. She gave it a thumbs up, which is high praise from her as she is very picky about her meat as I’ve said before. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Spaghetti Fra Diavolo, it had a lot of seafood and the sauce had a good spicy kick, which I really appreciated. DH enjoyed his sausage as well, he didn’t rave about it, but he did eat most of it and was satisfied.

The desserts were OUTSTANDING. The Coffee Tartufo (which has an additional $2 charge if you’re not on DDP) was very unique and delicious. It’s coffee ice cream rolled in butterfinger bits, chocolate, hazelnuts, and coffee beans – if you don’t like coffee flavor, definitely avoid though. The hazelnut cheescakes had a hazelnut center and were very tasty, and the truffle cake was wonderful as well.

We all enjoyed this meal and would definitely return! The Fantasmic tickets were also a definite plus.

Cost – 3 TS credits = $96.30

When we returned to the hotel after Fantasmic, I purchased a LARGE bag of Lay's Sour Cream 'n Onion potato chips (another good snack value). Hello, my name is Kaylie&Lauren'sMom, and I am a chip addict. I needed my fix.

Cost - 1 snack credit = $3.18

Hi
Love your reviews. Thanks for sharing. Your kids are adorable and it sounds like you had a really great time. I'm not too happy about the new kids menus, but I'm glad they would substitute fruit for the vegetables. It doesn't really seem like much of a dinner to me, but then again, my DGD (4) might love it.

Great reviews! Although you're making me really hungry. :lmao: Thanks for all the time that I'm sure has gone into this. :wizard:

Having now read your reviews, i think they are great. Lovely Pictures & great detail

Ok, I saw the just dip it pic. Are you telling me that fruit and yogurt is considered dinner for children?? Say it isnt so? Looks more of a dessert than a dinner meal. :confused3

Great reviews! Love the pictures! My DH just asked me to make an ADR at O'Hana's after I read him your review and showed him the pictures! We already have the Fantasmic Package at Mama Melrose booked and after seeing your pictures.....we've made a great choice!

Thanks for the compliments! I have not gotten to my review of 'Ohana yet, so I assume you mean Kona Cafe. 'OHana is a great choice as well, I say book them both!!

Actually, the meal came with fruit AND veggies, yogurt, & chicken salad. We just requested all fruit and she got gelato dessert instead of the chicken salad. She does not like raw veggies or chicken salad! She did eat a few bites of our meals as well, so I didn't feel too bad about the fruit "meal".

Thank you so much for your wonderful reviews!!! We are planning our first ever trip to Disney for May 2007 (me 31, DH40, DD12, DD11, DD8, and DS5)and this really helps us with decisions for ressies, and whether or not the dining plan would be a good option for us. So thanks again for your obvious hard work... :cheer2:

Love your reviews. A few comments. Coral Reef - DS17 had the same complaints about the pasta. He wasn't feeling well and I just thought he was being picky. He sent it back after 2 bites. Said it was too Salty. I thought the place was OK but is not on our list for next time.

Kona- Wasn't Debi GREAT? Ihope she is there when we go back in 14 months. This is a must do next time for us. She and I talked along time about the new kids menu and she actually sent a manager to talk to us. That is one place that doesn't like the new menu and bends over backwards to accomadate teh kids.

Glad you liked Mama's. It has had some horrible reviews. DS17 and a friend ate there on our trip and neither one could come up with one good thing to say about the place.

The pictures are great.

Day 7 Lunch (Everything Pop) & Snack (Sleepy Hollow)

Today was DD2’s birthday! We went to the Magical Beginnings EMH (Fantasyland opened at 8:00 am) – WOW this was awesome!! I know this has nothing to do with dining, but I just wanted to share – there were VERY few people there, and a lot of characters came out to play! DD7 played at the Pooh Playground with Pooh, played Red Light, Green Light with Wendy & Peter Pan, played Duck-Duck-Goose with Pluto & Mickey, and best of all – she rode the teacups with Alice & The Mad Hatter!!! DD2 was too shy to join in. Some pics:

Anyway – back to dining! I think we snacked on doughnuts this morning for breakfast. We had a funnel cake from Sleepy Hollow around 10:00 – awesome snack credit use! The funnel cake was a nice treat.

Cost – 1 snack credit = $4.14, Coke OOP $2.22

We went back to Pop today for an afternoon break – we woke up at 6:30 and were going to be at MNSSHP until midnight! We all shared: Cheeseburger basket with fries, Chicken Penne Alfredo, chocolate croissant, & a large chocolate chip cookie. We got mug refills (DD7 loved the frozen cokes) and took 2 bottled Sprites for later. Everything was very good – we got the chicken dish for a second time and it was just as delicious as the first one. Cheeseburger was good – nothing special. All in all, a good lunch and good credit value. And, pretty large portions – between the 4 of us, we still had to throw away leftovers!

Cost – 2 CS credits = $24.40

Day 7 Birthday Dinner – ‘OHana

We had an early (4:05) ADR because we were going to MNSSHP tonight. We woke up a little late from our afternoon nap, and didn’t leave Pop until around 3:30. Luckily, we made pretty good time and checked in around 4:15. Our server was Hanane – not good. She was hard to find, said they didn’t even serve smoothies (which I know is not true from reading the Dis!), and charged a TS credit for DD2. When I asked her to correct this, she said that’s how she had to key it in the system (on the receipt it states “under 3 meal”) and I would have to go the Polynesian front desk to get it corrected. OK – we had this problem one other time (at Akershus breakfast) and the manager was able to correct in the restaurant, so I just think Hanane was being a little lazy. I did get the credit added back the next day at the Pop concierge desk, as I wasn’t going to use birthday time or MNSSHP time to go to the Poly front desk.

On to the good news – ‘OHana is one of our favorites. A Hawaiian lady plays her “guitar” (not sure of the exact name of her instrument, sorry!) and leads the kids on parades, hula hoop contests, & coconut races. She is great! It was the same lady from last year, so she has been there a while and has perfected her routine. DD7 loves this!

This meal is served family style, all you can eat. Appetizers/sides include wonton chips with 3 dipping sauces, scalloped potatoes (a huge hit – everyone loved these), salad (OK), sticky wings (YUM), sweet & sour shrimp (good, but did not enjoy peeling these) & mixed veggies (nobody touched these; there was too much other good stuff to choose from!). Then, someone brings around skewers of meats – Hawaiian pork sausage, steak, pork loin, & turkey. Very good and filling. And the best is saved for last – bread pudding with banana foster sauce. This stuff is like crack! If we hadn’t been so full, we would have ordered seconds of this – it is amazing!! In addition, they brought out a birthday cupcake and sang to DD2. We will definitely be back here and just hope we don't get Hanane!

Cost – 3 TS credits = $79.64 (very reasonably priced if paying OOP)

Also, DB & DSIL each ordered a Lapu Lapu. We got these for $10.99 last year, this year they were $12.50. With tax and automatic 18% gratuity, those 2 drinks cost them over $30!!! They were VERY strong though – so strong, they ordered extra pineapple juice to water them down a little bit!

Sorry, I didn't take many food pictures here. This is a picture of the appetizers from last year - just sub the wontons for wonton chips, change 2 of the sauces (peanut is still there), and add the shrimp (which were on skewers last year):

Here's the Lapu Lapu from last year (still the same except for the price  ):
