10 Days in October: Argle-Bargle or Foofarah? UPDATED: POSTS #984 & 995!!!

I love your trippie! I thoroughly enjoyed your food reviews (you may remember my vicarious enjoyment of your V&A dinner). I haven't been on the DIS for a while - reading too much made me pine for a trip that just won't happen for a while. When I saw you'd started your trippie I just assumed you'd finished it too...and now I'm left hanging!!!

Hope you are well...

Twinmum

Yep. Pinchy would love this.

So, like Guy Incognito, your Simpsons' references have elevated me from long-time lurker to first-time poster.

Time for another update!

You have 30 minutes to move your cube.

Hi Twinmum, how have you been? I certainly do remember you from the dining report and I'm glad to see you made the leap over to the trippie with us. I'm slow with the updates, I know...too much going on outside the DIS for me to get this done quickly.

Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

HPHammer - thanks for de-lurking! We are honored to be on the receiving end of your first post.

Homer the Smithers is one of the best episodes ever! Thanks to you when I left the office for lunch today I couldn't get this comment out of my head:

"I'm sure the manual will indicate which lever is the velocitator and which the deceleratrix, hmm?"

Thank you for acknowledging our geode!!

Brenda, I finally caught back up! The Plankton picture is classic! Can't wait for the Grimace to arrive!

Those of you who travel with mascots, let this be a lesson - never leave them alone in the room, especially when there are scantily clad washcloth floozies just waiting for a chance to lead them astray.

My God, he didn't even take off his mouse ears! Where are his manners???

Oh the horror of it all!! :scared1:

I can't tell you how much I laughed when I saw this. I was expecting another Brenda encounter :lmao: :rotfl2:

That is a terrific episode all right. "Did he die?" "What am I, a doctor?" Hee.

And I don't think we could be the same person, because my mother sounds nothing like yours, luckily. ;) However, I am in the market for a (very slightly) older cool twin sister! How does that sound? :teeth:

Your trip report is so great! Thank you for sharing!

(p.s. I spent all afternoon at work reading the food report! :rolleyes1 )

Dude, plankton SCORED! (rofl) The way his arm is raised in the air just makes it funnier.

Your dining link didn't work, and that made me cry.

So, talk to me about this walkway from SSR to DD. We were discussing the merits of various locations for the October trip, and SSR was brought up because "we could drunkenly meander home from PI!" But then we started questioning if that was the best idea, and if we would end up in Canada or something. I mean, I've always thought it was a really cruel joke that they make you cross traffic to get to the PI bus stop... I'm not sure about walking back to the resort! So, um, getting to the point- path back to SSR: Navigatable post-Kungaloosh, or no?

Hey Crystal - I fixed the link, so you might want to give it a try again if you have some time.

I love the arm in the air - does he look like a furry green stud, or what?

The walk back to SSR can be a little long if you've had a lot to drink - we found that out on Friday night when we left RR. But it is well lighted and easy to follow. You do have the option of catching a bus back to SSR - the place is so big that they still have buses running from DTD and PI to take guests back to the resort. We did that on our first night after having dinner at House of Blues - I was sooooooo tired, I don't wannnnnna waaaaaaalk, pleeeeassse can't we just wait for a bus? ;)

You could also consider hiring a Sherpa should any be hanging around SSR duering your visit. :thumbsup2

Stacy, hi there! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Thanks for reading - the Grimace is on the way and there will be much more Plankton to come.

I never stopped to think that you guys might think it was another close encounter of the Brenda kinda...oh that just makes it even funnier! I'm glad we were able to provide some amusement. A friend of mine was reading the update at work today and she told me that she nearly spewed coffee on her keyboard and computer screen when she got to that part. :lmao:

The percolations are iminent!

My mom really isn't as bad as I make her out to be...she's pretty cool in her own way...sometimes. ;)

I'll keep working on that older sister thing...thanks for reading!!

Your trip report is so great! Thank you for sharing!

(p.s. I spent all afternoon at work reading the food report! :rolleyes1 )

Hi there! Thanks for reading, I'm glad to know that you're enjoying our tale. And thanks for reading the food trippie - I'm actually quite proud of that one! :goodvibes

That beer flight looks sooooo gooood!!!:drinking1

Once again, good reading!

Hope you're feeling better soon and can continue. I can't wait to find out how Grimace got her name. It's got to be more than a permanent frown.:surfweb:

YAY, I'm all caught up on the dining adventures! Rather than bumping that thread up from the depths, though, I'll just leave a note here-

I may have to give in and order the slipper at tea next time! Although last time all I had was the scone & tart, and I thought I'd never eat again!

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Jason's tea was the Nobo Wholefruit. I have that one in my kitchen, and it brews up that exact color!

Hey, look, it's a trip report from my all time favorite strolling, wise-cracking clown!

I'm enjoying this tremendously, Brenda, just like I did your food report. Can't wait for more! :cool1:

OK, OK... I'm behind... AGAIN... where to begin?!? First of all, the Barry Manilow ditty is just, plain cruel! :headache: I'm going to hear that in my head every time I eat at Kona from now on, thank you very much! I totally missed the Halloween decorations at the Poly. :confused3 Thanks for the picture. Linking to your your food trippie.... hmmm... isn't that cheating? You could at least copy and paste stuff for cryin' out loud! :rolleyes1 OK, the multiple Brenda sightings is getting weird... I think the Rastafari Mickey hat wins... The Wilderness Lodge is nice. We've never stayed there, but have had dinner at Artist Point several times, and always hang around the resort afterwards. You guys will like AP. Are you going to dinner there in May? As far as the whole accent thing goes, I'm not even going there! It's bad enough I'm called a Hoosier. I don't even want to know what I sound like to other people. Thanks for the SSR pictures, they're great! We only stayed there once when it first opened, and we really liked it. But, like you, we're spoiled by BWV and the location! :cloud9:

:scared1: Plankton & the towel floozy! :scared1: Shocking! I have no words!

And last, but not least, I need clarification on the picture above - Is Jason ahead of you or behind you in the drinking?!? Are you on your first round or second, Brenda. Come on. You can tell us! ;)

Have a great weekend!!!
-Michelle

P.S. I think we're actually going to go to the Party for the Senses this year, during our quickie October trip! I'm so happy!

I vote behind her due to the silly grin!!

Hi Paige - thanks for stopping by again! I am feeling much better, thanks for asking - we got a bunch of rain yesterday and that helped the sinuses feel all better. 3-day headache is finally gone!

If you read my dining report you will know in advance how the Grimace got her name, but I'm not telling here until the appropriate day arrives! ;)

Crystal - I love tea at the GF and there is nothing like finishing it off with Cinderella's Slipper. I'm not usually a fan of white chocolate but this must have some magic Disney flavor enhancer mixed in because it's yummy! Thanks for the heads up on the tea - Jay really liked that one.

Litebrite!!!! :yay:

How have you been? And how did the game finally end, or is it still going? I lost interest after all my favorite teams were eliminated.

Thanks for coming over to take a read - I really appreciate it!

Michelle...my head is spinning. :lmao:

My goal is to have all DISers singing Kona to themselves or to others as they dine there!

The food trip linkage is cheating? You guys really want to suffer through that again over here? :lmao:

We aren't trying AP in May but I do have it on the radar for October. And we are planning to hit PFTS in October, too. When are you going to be there?

I vote behind her due to the silly grin!!
:drinking: :drinking: :drinking: :drinking:

Sweedee, thanks for reading; I hope you've enjoyed it so far! For both you and Michelle, and anyone else who may be wondering...

Drinking clarification in regard to alcoholic snapshot: Jason and I were actually in a dead heat when this picture was taken. I'd had a Celtic Sangria at the bar - a very tasty drink - and Jason had a pint of Murphy's. Neither one of us had tasted the drinks you see in that photo because they'd just been delivered to the table.

Two things, no, three...yes, three things contributed to the silly grin plastered across my face:

1) The Celtic Sangria is served in a really tall glass with a straw...which means if you're me you drink it waaaaaaaay too fast for your own good;
2) I weigh about 70-75 pounds less than my hubby and given the delicate nature of my health (:rotfl2:) alcohol tends to hit me faster and harder than Jay;
3) I always look silly...I was born that way and actually I'm a little sensitive about it. ;)

Thanks again everyone for acknowledging our geode - I'll be updating through the weekend...in between laundry, grocery shopping, house cleaning, resume tweaking, bill paying, eyeglass re-ordering, and..... A VISIT FROM THE GRIMACE!!!!!

I've been getting along nicely, thanks for asking. Hubby and I spent 3 weeks in Ireland not long after my team's elimination from Whap-Your-Aunt-Sadie, and we'll be there again for most of April, so I'll be sure to say hi to the land that birthed Raglan Road and the Celtic Sangria for you! :rotfl:

And the game is still going, believe it or not. It's down to individuals now.

I had forgotten to look for your trip report after devouring your food report.

Then, while checking my subscription to said food report, I happened upon it.

So many thoughts:

My dh was born in SL, and is it just his relatives or does everyone say "Mizz oo rah."
And also "Sod-y." As in coke, etc.
"Warsh rag." (Umm, we call that a wash cloth here.)

(They came to SL from Arkansas, so maybe its a more southern thing.)

We LOVE St. Louis, and haven't been back much since his grandma passed away.
Love Ted Drewe's, and have eaten a few Imo's.
Love the zoo. Arch. The whole thing.

Anyway...about the Plankton/floozy incident not being a "Brenda encounter"--How do we know for sure?
It seems the universe had a Brenda vortex centered around you and all Brenda's were being drawn in that direction.
I'm thinking the warsh rag floozy was a Brenda.
In which case it wasn't really Plankton's fault. Hmm...

(I know SEVERAL Brenda's here. Maybe it's more a Michigan thing.)

I did root for the Tigers a bit, but I married out of baseball family into a football family, so I am not up on the sport now.

My dh loves WDW, but thinks I am bordering on certifiable about it. I don't dare show him what other madness there be. Tee hee.

:3dglasses  :dance3:

Looking forward to more report! popcorn::

Ireland...and for such a length of time...oooooohhhhhh! Color me jealous! I hope you have a wonderful time. :goodvibes

Whap-Your-Aunt-Sadie...:lmao: :lmao:

No update?

That's unpossible! ;)

Guy...I insist that you stop quoting my favorite episodes! ;)

Thanks so much for coming over to take part in the fun, DisneyMom5!

Let's see....it seems like "Mizz-oo-rah" is more rural than urban as is "sod-y." In St. Louis most people call it soda, but 220 miles to the west in Kansas City they call it pop. I try to avoid the issue altogether by drinking water or alcohol. ;)

St. Louis isn't so bad - I tend to exaggerate sometimes (what, me? never!). I love me some Imos...just had it for dinner Friday night. But I haven't had Ted Drewes frozen custard in ages...and thanks to you I'm now craving some. :headache: (that's the closest I can come to a D'oh icon).

I never thought to ask her name...and neither did Plankton...how rude! You may be on to something about Brendas and Michigan - although I've spent most of my life in St. Louis I was not born here.

Go on.... take a guess ...

(no, not the nuthouse)

That's right!

Michigan...

I think I'm beginning to see a pattern... ;)

Anyway, thanks again for stopping by... update is in progress.
