10 Days in a Studio when used to 1bdr

and switched to the first few nights in a studio, and the remaining seven in a 1bdrm. I had the points available to borrow. DH and I were trying to economize so that we would eventually get out of perpetually borrowing points from the next use year. It'll just take us a little longer!;)

Thanks for all the responses, both pro and con. What changed our minds was remembering that the last time we stayed for a week in a hotel room was back in '92 and we were climbing the walls, and that was just DH and I! After buying into DVC in 93, both our WDW and nonWDW vacations were spent in timeshare or rental home accommodations. I'm definitely spoiled. :jester:

We are a family of 4, our kids are 9 and 12. We are very busy during the year between work and school. So when we go to WDW we stay in a studio, and enjoy each others company both in the parks and in our studio. I so look forward to our time together at WDW.

I have a family of five and we stayed a week in a studio for xmas but i dont want to be in one room with 3 daughters so i bought more points.I could still see me in a studio but i dont want to think about it.I would beg and barrow not to stay in a studio.

I think you're going to find it a little long and cramped to be in a studio for 10 days with 4 people.

I agree with the poster who said that IMHO, studios are more for long weekends or quick getaways...like 4 days or less.

Disney Doll...I'd have to say I agree that a studio is better for a shorter stay. If we were on a five day trip, I don't think I would be as concerned. We will be staying in the studio for at least two nights, so that should give us an idea of how we'd all fit and work around each other.

Tiggerguy2000 - A studio with 3 daughters (and one bathroom!) over Xmas??? You deserve a medal!!!;) :D :D

Randy55 - That's pretty cool that your family looks forward to and enjoys the closeness during vacation. I'm a stay-at-home mom with a pre-K'r and a preschooler (both are never in school at the same time...can you say yucky schedule??:p ) We look forward to vacations when DH can join us full-time! I can only hope that when my kids are 9 & 12 they still enjoy spending time with Mom & Dad!;)

Just posting to wish you a wonderful trip! :D

I've stayed in a studio just one time for 4 nights (with my SIL). IT was my first trip home and the studio was just fine for the two of us. Since then, it's either been a 1 bedroom or a 2 bedroom and now I just kind of "wince" at the thought of "having to stay in only a studio". :o:o We're getting a 2 bedroom for our December trip and there will only be 3 of us. Eveyone is entitled to his/her own bed, right??? :p :p

Talk about SPOLIED! I think I must be reading too many of Richyams' posts. Is it wrong to book a Grand Villa for just two people?? ;) ;) ;)

We just spent 7 nights in a studio at WLV. Hubby, myself and 20 year-old. We were fine. Did I wish I was in a bigger unit, yes, did I want to use the points, no. We did laundry one evening and were fine with clothes for the rest of the week.

I prefer to use as few points as possible and to get as many trips as possible rather than using them all on one trip, but that is just my personal preference. We stayed in a 2 bedroom last May, and it was glorious, but I have trouble spending the points if I can make do with smaller accommodations.

We had breakfast in the room on the mornings when we wanted an early start in the parks. Fridge more than adequately held juice, water, soft drinks, butter, etc. We had bagels, sweet rolls, coffee cake, etc. for whoever wanted what, and each person fixed their own as they got done showering.

We spent the first night of our trip at the Caribbean Beach, and then checked into WLV at 8:30 the next morning, and our room was ready. Going immediately from the hotel room to a DVC studio allowed me tell the differences while it was all fresh in my mind. Yes, even the studios are nicer than a regular hotel room.

I recognize that your situation will be different with little ones, but if you are at OKW, I think you will be fine with 2 beds and the huge bathroom that those studios have.

Good luck with your decision.

CAROLMN...Thank you for the well-wishes. After seeing the park hours reduced, I'm glad I opted to spend the points on a one bedroom!:D

rweTHEREyet...Aren't those studios at VWL beautiful? We will be spending a few nights in an OKW studio, so it'll be novel for the kids and a trial run for me. It's always a fun decision...save points or splurge!;)
