10 day tickets - 14 day expiring

Does anyone know if they ever waive the 14 day use limit in these tickets. My parents are going for 17 nights and have a 10 day ticket. Due to health issues they can't do more than 2 days in a row and then a day off. Toward the end I have them doing 1 on 1 off. They would need 16 days to use all the days up if I count their first park day as day 1.

Do you think guest services would allow them to extend pathetic limit for medical reasons. They are not looking to extend it too far.

I've never heard of them doing that. You might want to look into an annual pass... that would have the added advantage of automatically allowing them to park hop and your parking is free in case you'e staying off site.

No they are on site for 21 days actually but are resting for the first few so my count started on their first park day. They already have hoppers and swapping to an ap is probably not an option, they got these tickets years ago when they had to cancel so the price difference might not be that close.

This will most likely be their last trip, neither think they could do it again.

Maybe I will call and see what the price difference us and to see what their options are.

They may if it was an unexpected event like someone got sick or death in the family, but not for issues you know of before hand. I would assume they would expect you to plan around those issues.

As long as it's an MYW ticket (which have been sold since 2005), they will; tickets that are not MYW tickets can not be modified or upgraded. The OP says that her parents got the tickets years ago, but as long as years ago means no more than 9 years ago (almost 9 1/2 actually), they can be upgraded to APs or to the non-expiration option.

No it wasn't over 9 years ago I'm thinking 2008 or 09. Anyone know the price difference.

Also anyone know if I can upgrade them using my DVC discount (I will be there the first part if the trip)

Ok so now I'm confused I called ticketing and lady said the value of the tickets are around $235. When I looked up the value of a 10 day ph it said it was around $415. If they were to upgrade to an ap would it be at the old value or the new one. Also does it matter if they use it first before upgrading.

If it as the current value it might be worth upgrading especially if we can get the DVC price.

The DVC AP discount is good for any member of the household with the DVC owner - i.e., if they live at your address, you can get a discount on their AP.

As for bridging, I've never done it myself, but my understanding is that as long as they use the ticket to enter the park before upgrading to an AP, they will count the current gate ticket cost towards the AP price.

Good luck! I agree that the best option for them may be an AP. If the tickets are unused, they're unassigned - you could always just get new APs for your parents for this trip, and use the unused tickets some other time.

According to Allears.net's historic MYW ticket pricing, a 10-day base ticket was $237 in 2008/2009 ( not including tax). So when you called, that might be the price associated with the ticket. If you use it once before upgrading, it should be bridged to the current 10-day base ticket value ($339+tax). If you do not use the ticket at least once before upgrading, it will not be bridged and it will only be "worth" the price you paid.

Thanks guess it's gonna be a wait and see type of thing. May just have to see if they can squeeze day in if the ap doesn't work out.

I think at the current price, an extra ticket for a few more days may be cheaper than upgrading to an AP.
