10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Wow, I now have fewer days to wait than I will be gone!!!!!

Also I have wanted to take the DGK to Disney again. I booked 5 days at DL last night next July. We are telling them we are going to their Great Grandfathers house but are going to DL instead first. I am going to try to not say a thing and when we drive into CA have a hissy about missing a turn and OMG now we will be on the road forever and watch their reaction.

21 days and counting!!!
We will be gone 22 days!

Lois,
I can't believe you and Janet leave in 3 weeks!!
I cannot wait to hear all about your WDW trip when we meet! I love talking WDW with other "disney people!"
Where are you staying in WDW? Any dinner reservations? What are your favorite attractions? Are you doing all of the parks?
**In the MK, my absolute favorite, not to be missed attractions for me are: The Haunted Mansion, The WedWay People Mover and The Carousel of Progress. **

Have a nice sunday everyone. Chris and I are off to Church. Katie is doing a bit better every day. She is sure a feisty one!

Oh, and I'm almost packed. Can you tell I'm excited!!!

Janet says I have it planned out to the point of scheduling bathroom breaks. We have dinner ressie each day and the Fantismic dinner package two time. I love the Haunted Mansion as well. Soaring in another one I love. There are so many I can't even begin to list them. We are doing Hollywood Studio and MK two days each and Epcot and AK for one day each. That is a total of 6 days at the world. I can't wait. Got to go see if I can get some work done. Lois

How can it be the last day of AUGUST already? But, that means we leave next month for our week at WDW so that is a good thing. I think that I will book a fake date on our cruise so I have something to look forward to they make us get off the ship.

We went back to Alma yesterday (that is the third trip in three weeks) to watch Drew play soccer. It is good that we arrived early so we could watch him in warmups - it would have just been watching him on the bench otherwise. But - he dressed which only 3 other freshman did so I was proud anyway.

Molly - so glad to hear that Katie is doing better. I can't believe that you are partially packed. I have a conference in Fargo in 2 weeks so I need my suitcase but I will begin in earnest when I get back from that trip. My list is in pretty good shape so it won't be too difficult to get it all together quickely.

I was thinking about shipping my box to OKW instead of to the ship but then we would not get it until luggage arrived so I am back to shipping to the port. Such decisions - LOVE IT!

Denise - as always, prayers to you. Keep us updated as you can. I can not even imagine what that must be like, just can't. I watch the news but they seem so indecisive it drives me nuts. Some of them say weaken, some say strenghten, but the storem surge to New Orleans sounds very high to me - 15 feet. I hope that the levies all hold.

Hi guys,

Just checking in. We have decided to stay put simply because the hurricane is 400 to 600 miles in diameter and can't be outran by going just 2 1/2 hours north.

Windows are taped, water is in the bathtubs and snacks have been purchased. Bring on the Hurricane Party!!!

I will try and give updates from time to time but I know we'll lose power.

Right now, the clouds are already visible and it's getting overcast and New Orleans is 5 1/2 hours southeast of here!

Traffic to the north on US Highway 171 is at a pretty good clip. Unleaded gas is limited or gone altogether (of course, I know the out of the way stations!). Bread, milk, food in general is in good supply for now.

Looting has already happened in my country neighborhood which is another reason for my staying.

I have a gun, I live in Louisiana and I will shoot! And, I'm a pretty good shot!

My friend Rita is staying with me as she lives in a mobile home, I have a brick house. Her nephew is a captain on the fire department and he said we can expect the hurrican to stall at cat 2 intensity with the eye just over our heads and it will sit and spin dumping up to 24" of rain.

More soon.

Wow Denise, I will sure be praying for your safety. Please keep us posted as much as possible.

I was going to post that I've found another dress that I'm going to use for formal night, but that seems so trite compared to people's homes and lives being at stake.

Stay safe,
Lori P. :)

Please be safe! I am no where near and I am freaking. Pixie Dust is coming your way. Check in from time to time as you have power. Lois

Denise... reports here are predicting a TS when it comes over you. Hope ours are right! http://www.wral.com/weather/hurricanes/page/1444534/?s=gustav&m=wu_tracking5day

A little trick I learned. Turn your freezer as cold as it will go, so the temp is way down before power goes out. Then, when the power does go out, wrap the frezzer in blankets. With the extra cold temp and extra insulation, you can get another day before you have to worry about losing food.

I am thinking Hanna is going to come in at NC. We are supposed to go to a cookout on Sat, and I am guessing it will be cancelled.

I went shopping for some clothes this weekend too, Lori. I realized I have no shorts, and only 1 pair of non-denim capris. (I've gained too much weight, and have put off buying in my true size.) I was able to find some nice capris, but no shorts. Guess I'll be ebaying this week to get some!

Denise - I will be thinking of you & praying that you & everyone else stay safe.

Gena - congratulations on surviving the sleepover :rotfl: . My DD had one for her birthday last year (when she was 11). I left them watching the end of a movie & said go to sleep when it finished. I had to get up about 2am to tell them to be quiet & go to sleep. They told me in the morning that they had breakfast at about 3am :scared1: . We went swimming later that morning & delivered some very tired girls home.

It was my DS's birthday yesterday (31st). No sleepover for this one. We took a couple of Blake's friends to the movies then they came back to our place to play.

I am pretending it is summer here :lmao: . It is the 1st day of spring & the sun is out. Over the weekend I have been wearing capris (not warm enough for shorts) & sandals. I thought I'd better wear my sandals back in again or I will have very sore feet in a couple of weeks.

I have also been shopping. The summer clothes are out now which is great timing.

Have a good week everyone.

Tania

Denise,

Please stay safe. Our prayers are with you.

I hope to go shopping tomorrow. How formal is everyone dressing for formal night? Are we talking long formal gowns or cocktail length? Just wondering.

My dress for formal night is from David's Bridal. It has spaghetti straps and is tea-length. It is embroidered and is a dark greyish/blueish color. I'm not too good at describing things. It's not a bridesmaid dress-I got it in their section for party dresses. Hope this helps! DH is wearing a suit.

Denise-Please keep us posted. Chris and I prayed for you and for all who will be having to battle out this storm. Stay as safe as you can and know we will all be thinking of you and your loved ones!

Lois, love the pics your grandson drew. What talent he has. At the age of 34, I'm still trying to find my talent but have come up empty!

Just wanted to check in to say Hi!

We're getting ready here. We are going to have to board our dog so to get him use to the doggie resort we have enrolled him in their doggie daycare program . Boy! I never thought in a million years I'd be dropping off a dog of mine to daycare on my way to work. But he's a sweet boy, I also can't stand the looks he gives me when I leaving for work, AH! Mom I love you. Take me. Take me. Or when he is sitting at the door excited thinking he's going somewhere and I have to shut the door in his little face, god, that just breaks my heart.

Went to the mall today bought DH a handsome new suit and a few other things. I've been shopping a little but I don't need much I'm starting to get back into my smaller clothes, finally. I've loss 45 lbs so far, it's not been easy. I'm hoping to get off a few more before we sail.

Starting to lookout for our boarding passes, hope they come soon.

Hey! I hope everyone down south of me stays safe from the storms. We're praying for you all.

See you all real soon.

Hey Ginger,
Congrats on the 45 lb weight loss!! That is just fantastic. Keep up the good work.
I lost 17 lbs on WW since the end of May and hope to do around 5 more before we cruise. Clothes shopping has certainly gotten fun again!

I was looking through my "cruise folder" on the computer. I started a document that had the pics that you many of you posted in this thread. It would be great if more people could post their pictures. I would love to be able to put a face to a name even before the Dismeet. It will be fun to look at on the way down.

Ginger

I agree with Ginger! I would love to put a face to a name before our big Dis Meet! Some of us way back when posted pictures of us and it was great. Maybe the others could do this as well.

I found them!!! Do I win the prize? :rotfl2: I have gained so much weight in the past 2 years. I eat when I am stressed... and I have been really stressed. I am hoping if I work really hard, I can get off at least a few pounds before the cruise. I have so many cute shorts and capris that need to be about 10 pounds looser!

Good Morning Everyone & Happy Labour Day!
Do you all realize that The Magic is now docked at Port Canaveral? Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock...lol

Yesterday we went to see the Cirque du Soleil show Saltimbanco. Different from La Nouba at Downtown Disney...I think mostly because Saltimbanco is a travelling show whereas La Nouba is "permanent". We had a good time.

I am watching some of the CNN coverage of Gustav...I sure hope Denise is hunkered down and really hoping she is not in an area prone to bad flooding.

I hear that Disney will be announcing the 2010 cruise itineraries on Oct.7 (while we are on the ship) and that booking will open Oct.21. The big rumour is Alaska. Not sure if we would be interested in this or not...on one hand reports say it is beautiful, but we live with so much snow that vacation to me says TROPICAL with PALM TREES :beach: not iceburgs and polar bears:scared:

Kid's are back to school tomorrow and so the fun begins. Better get some laundry going and start to think about getting organized.

Have a great day
Wendy

Hi guys,

Just a quick update.

At first they were telling us we'd be hit head on with a Cat 2 Hurricane but now they're saying a 1 or even a tropical depression so your prayers, thoughts and pixie dust are working. However, they're predicting more than 15 " of rain.

Miranda, my DIL, had to bring Nate to me from Shreveport because daycares are closed Tues and Wed and she still has to work (she works in a bank) so he'll ride it out with Nana! He'll be a hurricane baby! His collarbone is now completely healed.

Right now, the skies are over cast and there's a gentle breeze. Funny thing, the birds are all gone! We feed our wild birds and have TONS of them. There are none to be found. That's kinda wierd!

We're keeping the laundry done up and have filled the bath tubs with water to flush the toilets if necessary.

We've done every thing possible to prepare and now we just wait.

Lois,

Your DGS is very talented! I was blown away.

To all you girls losing the weight!! How dare you?!?!?!;) No really, that's wonderful for you. Keep up the good work.

I'll post later!

Happy Labor Day everyone!
