10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Well... time to get motivated for losing the weight! I am going to try to "walk to Port Canaveral" from my house... 615 miles. I will need to do about 25 miles a week to get there. Anyone want to walk with me? You can walk from my house if yours is too far! :lmao:

I wish you much luck but I'm going to wait for the softer easier way. 25 miles each week is alot. Can I be part of the cheer squad? Lois

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I haven't heard anything further at this stage.

Well I guess I better start running - it's 8134 miles from my place to the port. I think that's a bit far :rotfl: . I do need to loose some weight and must try & eat better & exercise more. Motivation & time are the difficult things.

Tania

Tania... how well can you swim?:lmao: I doubt I'll get all the way to Port Canaveral, but somewhere in Georgia would be nice!

Karibritt01- I'll walk with you. I did 3 miles today.:yay: If you can only make it to Georgia you can stop at my house. Has anyone been on sparkpeople. I use it to count calories, and it's got some good workout videos, the best part is it's free. Pam

Welcome Meatboy2006 and family.

Stop!!!! you all are making my feet hurt.:rotfl: Wonder how long it will take me to ride my stationary bike there?
We could start our own weight loss before the cruise thread right here. Anyone with me?

I'll start.

I've got 60 lbs to take off.
I started gaining rapidly when my doctor prescribed a med for my stress. The stress problems got better but my cravings got worse and I had no energy. I was eating and sleeping my way to happiness. Ha! Ha! so I thought.
The doctor keeps telling me to lose weight but she gave me no help.
My cholestral is up along with my blood pressure and my feet hurt so bad I can hardly walk across the floor.
I decided on my own to stop taking the meds, last month. I've noticed that the craving are going away but so is the happy feelings, :sad2: . I feel like I can't win but, I think being moody is better than having one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel, don't you?
I have an appointment next week at weight loss clinic. They are going to give me a good check-up, take blood, checking my numbers and so forth. Hopefully, getting me back on the right track.

So here it is, my story. If you would like to join me in my journey, post it here and we'll do it together. Hope to hear from you.

You all have a great day:thumbsup2

Honeymooner, I see that you are a Castaway Club member, you've cruised with Disney before.
That would be 90 days out, making July 6 your day to start making those ressies. Right around the corner.:flower3:

I'm marking my calendar as we speak.

I also need to drop about 60 lbs. However, I have to get through an eye surgery and tendinitis in my foot before I can even think about walking again!!! I just borrowed Hip-Hop Abs from my Mom, so it's waiting for me as soon as I'm healthy again!!!

"Ginger"
I hear what you are saying about stress drugs vs. being a zombie. Don't lose faith, it took me 3 different kinds before I found the one that was a balance between the two. It has also helped me sleep beter at night. You also may want to switch the time of day you take it. I had one that worked better if I took it in the evening, but the on I am on now I take in the morning.
Good Luck!
Beth

Welcome Meatboy2006! :cool1:

Thanks Mollygirl13!

"Ginger" I am with you! I have a lot of weight to lose. Dare I say it? 150# Boy, is that an ugly number! However, I am trying to focus on just losing 20 for now. Then I will tackle the next 20!

Karibritt01, I would love to walk with you but honestly 3 miles per day is beyond my reach at the moment. But I am with you in spirit and cheering you an along side Grandma4ever! I do need to get moving though.

Ladies, we can concur our battles one day at a time or one pound at a time.

Thanks Beth, I going to stay away from the stress meds for now. I'm not working so little need for me to be medicated to get along with the AH's I worked with.
I had a car accident in late Nov. while working, doing a mail run for the postmaster, his job to do what I was doing. It was raining and I was tring to avoid someone waking in the road when my car hit the edge of the old country road, no curbs, and put me in a ditch. I manged to get out of the ditch but the car hydroplaned across the road and I hit one section of a split-rail fench. So the postmaster has decided that I'm now high risk. In my opinion just any excuse to get rid of me cause he and I never saw eye to eye.
Doing the Union thing right now, filed the grievances, and waiting and waiting and waiting to see if I can get my job back.
WOW! guest it's obvious that I need some kind of stress med,uh. I'll get by one day at a time:laughing:
But in the mean time my dog loves having to home with him. A big baby Doberman wth blue eyes and a pink nose. He's an albano, and such a sweet heart.

Oh! enough about me today.
Thanks for letting me vent.

I have 80 to lose. :sad2: I was within 20 pounds of my goal 2 yrs ago (my pic in the sig) but did TONS of stress eating when my sister was diagnosed with cancer. I was up 30 pounds before I knew it. The other 30 have crept back on... slowly at first, but now with increasing speed. Guess they gain momentum when your siding down hill! :rotfl: I am Avery's girl scout leader... having 150 cases of girl scout cookies stored in my garage for 2 months didn't help AT ALL!!

Ginger, have you tried Wellbutrin? I took that for anxiety for a while. It had the wonderful side effect of appetite suppression!

"Ginger"
Yike! You are very lucky you weren't hurt!
I understand the grievance issue, it can take a looooong time. My FIL was in the International UAW for many years. Stick to your guns!
TTFN,
Beth

Boy - I hear all of you regarding the weight loss issue. I could stand to loose 100 myself but would be happy with 50. I had wanted to ride the bike all the way to Orlando but that is not going to happen. I, too just need to move - and give up sweets would probably speed the process up some as well. Maybe we should start our own thread over on the Wish board - Buccaneers take the West - and pounds off the scale too! I would be happy to join up - or start it for that matter.
