10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Hi all. I haven't posted since first joining this thread... I'm a slacker! I promise to do better at some point in the future, when life is less crazy!

Yeah! I am now official! I made my ressie and paid the deposit today! We will be deck 6, room # 6042. Anyone close to us?

Lori - yes I was very proud, especially of my DS. I hated speeches when I was at school. He was very confident doing his in front of adults as well as kids.

Our kids have to do cross country as soon as they start school. Not that the littlies have a hard or long run. My dd had a very bad cough during the practices so she improved heaps in the last week, much to her delight (& mine). DD kept saying "you would be slow if you had run up that hill". I told her when I was at school we had to do a real cross country - over fences, through paddocks etc. She wasn't impressed :rotfl: . She is my athlete. My DS has the slow running disease as well. He is just not fast and is not really competitive like dd is.

You and Kim sound like you're being kept very busy with your boys. What a lot of injuries! Luckily we haven't had any broken bones yet. Just had DS in hospital for concussion when he was 4 after he fell on a playground pirate ship. If he hurts himself, it's always around his head. Luckily his head seems to be hard.

I can't wait for the cruise either. I am back reading the DIS (after a couple of weeks of not logging on) and getting back into the cruise feel. Hopefully our trip next week will be good. The kids are a bit disappointed we're not going to any theme parks this time, which is where we usually go when we go to Australia. But they should be able to do lots of swimming and I should be able to do lots of relaxing :cool1: .

Sorry this is a bit of a ramble. We're off to the grading soon. Last day of school tomorrow :thumbsup2 .

Tania

Ok 6 days left before we head to WDW for halloween party and sea world for a week... Still have not thought about starting to pack. Have a long Sams list today for the trip, then I guess I need to start packing for all of us. The boys are getting excited. DS12 will get his stitches out the day that we leave. Have a lot to do, guess I need to get started.

have a great weekend everyone.
Kim

Just a bump. I have a cold and can't breath, so sleep just isn't in the cards right now. Maybe a little bit later. Think I got infected on the Magic right before the cruise came to an end. As long as it did not effect my cruise I am happy.

Well I had better close because I am having trouble thinking as well as breathing. Lois

So sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. I am terrified that someone (read "kids") will get sick on our cruise. After reading the clause about being quarantined to the sick room or your stateroom... that would suck! My daughter is asthmatic, and tends to have an attack in different climates/surroundings.

If you get plenty of rest and wash your hands you (&the kids) should be ok. This was my 5th cruise and the 1st time I have caught anything. My sister and her girls didn't catch it. Lucky her. I sure I will be good as new in a few more days. They don't quarantine you unless it is flu like symptoms. I don't believe a cold would get you stuck in your room. If you have your little ones medication an asthma attach should not raise any red flags. Enjoy the cruise and don't worry too much.

Good Morning!

Grandma4ever - hope you are feeling better.

Kim - I'll be thinking of you and your family while you're having fun at WDW.

Four weeks from today, Dave and I will be boarding the Wonder for the DVC member cruise.

Our DD and Ds-i-l just got off the Magic yesterday. They bought 200 DVC points and can't wait to cruise again. Their luggage got "lost" in Detroit but DCL flew their luggage to St. Martin. DCL gave my s-i-l a tux, shoes, etc. and DD was given a dress and shoes for Palo.

Small world after all -- on our last DCL cruise (November 2006), our room host was Jonathon from the Phillippines. DD had a photo of Dave, me and their daughter in their stateroom. Jonathon asked DD how she knew Janet. He told her that he remembered us from our last cruise? We're we that bad????!!!! that he remembered us?????!!!!! Yikes!!!!

Have a great week everyone.

Yea I'm feeling a little bit better but I think it will be about a week before it is completely gone. My son woke up this morning and said his throat is sore. Hope it does not get him as bad as it got Janet and I. I am making plans to assure I am stronger before next year. Don't want to be sick during my vacation, not even one day of it. I have people to visit with and things to do. Granted mostly in slow motion. There is a chair with my name on it up at quite cove. I just got back and already I am dreaming on how to mannage to get through the next year to return once again. Boy that is real bad. Is there a 12 step group for those of us addicted to Disney? Any one else beside me what to join?

We are first-time cruisers, and this is the cruise we have booked and paid our deposit on. :thumbsup2 We have connecting rooms on Deck 7, with verandas. Myself, DH, and DD 6 years old (will be 7 at the time of cruise) will be in one room, and DMIL and DFIL will be in the next room. NONE of us have ever taken a cruise before. Good thing we all have a year to pay for it, too! Whew!

Welcome Lora!!!

I just added you and your family to our cruise list in post #1.

You will get addicted to DCL! Just read Post #208 to see how much my DD and Ds-i-l liked cruising the Magic which was their first time cruising.

Welcome. There is no vacation like a cruise. Be prepared to have every desire fulfilled (well almost every desire) I have done 1 three day and 4 seven day cruises and if I can come up with the money will do cruises 6, 7, & 8 next year. Lois

You guys will never guess what I did tonight! I went t.p.'ing!!! It was so fun.

Our football team played their last game tonight, and we actually WON! We don't have the greatest record, so it was a wonderful way to end the season. The coach teaches on my team,so we're pretty good friends. After the game, I grabbed a few of our students and headed up to the school where we proceeded to roll about 25 rolls of toilet paper around his room.

I can't wait to see the expression on his face in the morning. He is going to LOVE it.

I felt like a kid again, lol.

Gotta go hit the bed. 5:30 is going to come pretty early in the morning.

Talk to you later,
Lori P. :)

I haven't done that since high school. No we are not going to talk about just how many years ago that was. It was a teacher we all really liked and it was awesome. It sounds like you had a good game and a very fun after party. Let us know what the reaction was K? Lois

Too funny! I TPed my best friend's car after she won the state championship in track... you couldn't even see the car! Glad to hear you won the last game!

He LOVED it! He kept calling all the other teachers to see his room. The students really got a kick out of it.

Guess what!!! We're almost to the year mark! Yeah!!!!!! Can you tell I like exclaimation marks??!?!:cool1:

Have a wonderful evening!
Lori P. :)

Good point Lori! And what will YOU all be doing one year from today??? I would be most interested in doing the Food and Wine Festival before we cruise but we shall have to wait and see on that one.

Hope everyone is doing well and back in the groove of school. How did it get to be October already??? Our leaves are turning (mostly brown because we had no rain for most of the summer) and falling already but the temps have been quite warm for northern Michigan. We only had one soccer game where we had cold, rain and wind - NASTY! But I have been going in capri's and sandals since.

Have a great rest of the week - we all made it (almost anyway) past hump day!

Today next year we will be visiting the Kennedy Space Center. We will drive down Thursday night, visit the space center on Friday, then cruise Sat. When we get back, we are planning to drive to Orlando and visit Sea World, spend the night in Orlando, then drive home on Sunday. :woohoo:

We did KSC before a cruise back in 2001 and we really enjoyed it. I found it very interesting and my kids (my youngest would have been 12 at the time) had a blast. Sort of made me feel old as I remember most of what we saw.

OK - a year from today we will be doing what????? :dance3: :dance3: :boat:

Happy Pre-Anniversary everyone! (Is there such a thing? If not, we'll invent one :) )

Gail, we're having VERY mild weather. Here in Chattanooga, it's in the high to mid 80's. I want some cold weather.:cold: I don't even really want cold, just cool enough at night to wear a light sweater and jeans.

Today is my students' last day before fall break, so it's a very good day.:woohoo: I do have to come in tomorrow, but the day is so EASY when the kids aren't here, lol. Next week we'll be heading over to eastern NC and then a trip back through Dollywood.

Lori P. :)
