10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Well, I just reserved our room at the Raddison for the 3rd. I was thrilled to get a rate of $99. We are also scheduled for the 10:00 shuttle. It makes the cruise seem closer just knowing I've got this taken care of. I hope to and look for fabric this week for the FE.

Ginger, if you want to do the fish extender thing, go ahead. If the going gets tough and you don't get one made, we'll just hang up a ziplock bag with your name on it, lol.

Sounds like we have quite a few kids in the 11 year old range for the trip. should be quite an active bunch.

I'm hoping that they'll let me put my youngest, who will be 7 1/2 in the 8 year old club. He's the youngest of four and so close to 8 that I know he'll want to be in the big kids' club with his brother.

I'll take any day for the fish extender game. Just sign me up for whatever day you need to fill a space for.

Hey y'all,

I decided to tell you all of a cruise story since we'll all be "enjoying" the beautiful ship before long.

In March of '07, my cousin and I decided to cruise the Magic to the Eastern Caribbean.

We got on the elevator and on there already was a family, mom, dad, and son. The boy, around 10 YO, had in his hands a balloon. It's shape was so shocking to us!

It was shaped, and I'll be delicate here, just like a certain part of the male anatomy! We were indignant!!! The family got off on the next floor and my cousin and I immediately started going off! How dare ANYONE make something like that and how dare mom and dad allow this child to walk around with it! We fumed for 2 days!!

On the drive home, it dawned on me that the offensive balloon was actually suppose to be a SWORD!!! We laughed for weeks about that.

Now, the really sad part about the whole thing ( yeah, I know there's a lot sad about this) is that my cousin would probably STILL be telling people that the poor boy was walking around the ship with a balloon whoha!




She's a blonde, too.

I'm hoping to go this weekend and look at fabrics to make mine. Anyone want me to look at fabric for you one, too? My best guess is they will cost $10-15 each to make... no mark-up for time! For anyone interested, give me an idea of colors or characters you like. I'll let you know what I find before purchasing. OR... purchase your own fabrics and send it to me... 1 yard for the main fabric and 1/4 yard for each pocket. Questions... PM me!

Yes, as time gets closer we'll post that everyone wanting to participate will need to let us know that they actually have a FE and how many is in their party. Not everyone will get a FE or wants to participate. We'll definately get a list.

Just a quick FYI: there are 7 custom fish extenders on eBay right now. They are really cute and one of a kind! I got mine this morning. I'll post pics when I get it. Mine is red with black Mickey heads all over it! Very cute!

None of us could believe it! They mailed them to us before the cruise so that we'd have time to decorate them.

But perhaps the best thing is that pahrumpgirl (Carol and Doug) and Steve and I hit it off and are good friends! We even travel together. We live in La and they live in Ohio. So, you all may think you're just going on a cruise but you could meet your new lifelong pal!

That's great! It's so much fun to do the FE gift thing. When Sharon, my cousin, and I cruised in March, we didn't have the gift exchange thing. I missed it. Do take a long zip tie to secure it as previously posted. If I drive, I'll have a pair of scissors so that we can cut the tie when we pack to leave.

I can't decide what I want to bring.........

Okay Lori, I have you down on Grand Cayman day. As I said, I'll get with Jan and we'll put it on the spread sheet she made for us.

As of right now, we have 2 people for each day, Sun - Thurs. If anyone else wants to join the group and give a FE gift, you can pick any day you want.

OK - here is the scoop and first I want to say I am truly very sorry to give everyone this news.
I made numberous of phone calls and what has been posted is true. Reasons being that so many boxes, cartons etc were coming in and there was no way to check all items shipped so the coast Guard said NO MORE OF ANYTHING.
If you put water, sodas, liquor etc in carry ons or check ins and if it is found, it will be confiscated - now 2 suitcases and 1 carry on can be carried by each person which includes kids. You can no longer ship diapers, baby food etc. It has to be a carry on or check in.
Wish I would have had better news, but security has tighten down and getting harder, but it is in your best interest and safety that these steps were taken. To tell you how strong they have gotten, Norm and I now have to be double badged - one by the port and the second one by the US Government even though all our of stuff is checked, sniffed, looked at but so far the restrictions has not fell to us since they can control small deliveries.
