10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

So does everyone agree to do a first meet at 3 PM saturday somewhere on the ship.

Then to do a lunch meet at the set down resturant on one of the sea days. I prefer to do it on Monday that way it is a way to meet earlier in the cruise and get to know one another.

The PJ breakfast creates a problem as if we have it on a sea day it will conflict with someones Character Breakfast. When does everyone want to have it, do you want to do it?

Looking for Ideas and suggestion. Lois

3 on Sail-a-way day sounds good to me. I've only been on one cruise and we just had an introduce yourself meet and I can't even remember what deck (maybe 10?) People who've been more than me can pick the location.

Does it seem that DIS meets are more extensive on 7 nights vs 3/4 night cruises?

Lori P. :)

I would guess there are more meets on a 7 day as there are a few more hours to get together. So a meet at 3 PM on the first day where to meet:

By the drink Station / Mickey Pool?
In Prom. Lounge?
Maybe on deck 10 somewhere?

Anyone for a lunch meet on Monday?

Anyone for breakfast in thier PJ? If so which day?

This is just the begining of many days to plans all the great fun.

Happy weekend all!

As far as the meet goes, I have a mixed opinion about the location. I agree it would be much easier to meet in the Promenade lounge on the first day. However, it is extrememly difficult to tear the kids away from the Mickey slide the first day too. I think it might be best to say that we meet on deck 10, overlooking the Mickey pool, maybe over toward the Goofy pool. That is just my suggestion though. I'll be glad to go wherever.

I have a school calendar update! I received a reply from the county PR person the next morning. She thanked me for my email and said she was forwarding it to the calendar committee. That was Thursday. Friday, we had a note that we were told had to go home with the kids that day. It told the parents that their opinion was needed about Fall break. They have set up a link on the county website where you can vote.

Now, I don't particularly like the way the note was worded. I think it was a little misleading. But, I had a long talk with my students (as did my sister) about how to inform their parents and have been spreading the word in my community. At least I feel like we have a voice now! Maybe I won't have to take that week off after all!! :rotfl2:

Bumping us up to page 1.

Meeting around the pool area, drink station would be great because I know last year it was hard to get the kids out of the pool.

What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving? We will be staying around here and all the family will be coming in town.

Hope you had a great weekend.
Kim

I still don't know. Hoping to go to my daughters for Thankgiving but she does not know if she will be home or at her sister-in-laws. Of course we can join them there as well. Just may do that. Less cooking when you meet together like that.

It is sounding like the Mickey pool area is in the lead so if you want to meet at another location please post up. The Mickey pool location work well with the exception that there wasn't any real place to set and talk but it is a short meet only 30 to 45 min.

Waiting to hear from the rest of you. Don't want to leave anyone out. Lois

Pool area is great with me. Maybe we can score some tables/chairs there in the shade.

That's another one for the pool. I quess since Janet and I will already be on board we could scope out a table ot two.

Let the voting continue. Lois

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Page two will not do:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

DH and I will be home by ourselves - no idea what I am going to cook. If he felt better I would make him take me out but that is not going to work either. Guess I will do just a turkey breast (makes for lousy stuffing though) and then we can have turkey sandwiches. I wonder how small of a turkey I could find...

I am up for a meet wherever. The pool works, the Promenade Lounge works, Deck 10 above the pools, anywhere on the ship is fine with me.

Anyone around. Looks like most are Ok with a first meet at the Mickey pool by the drink station. Please keep the comments coming and I will attempt to keep track of them.

Since I will be on board I can be waiting for each of you.

Found us on page two yet again. I will have to work harder to keep us on page one. Will check in later. Lois

Thanks for keeping us on page 1 guys!

I just wanted to share my terrific find with everyone! We are in DESPERATE need of a new sofa for our den. We went shopping on Saturday, but for a sofa/loveseat, we were looking at paying at least $1000. I also didn't see anything I really loved.

I really wanted a plaid sofa for my den, but didn't find one in the colors I liked, so we went home. Well...today I went into a thrift store looking for a costume for my son and sitting there was a practically new plaid sofa/loveseat in a cranberry/sage green/cream plaid!!! They had a price of $350 for the set, but came down to $300 after I asked for their lowest price. I AM SO PYSCHED!!!

Now we don't have to use David's yearly bonus for furniture. I'm hoping to talk him into using some of it to pay for our passports.

Well, my son and I have to work on his project, so I'll go for now,
Later!

What an awesome find. It is alway neat to know that there is that chance to find a treasure. Maybe I need to start looking for my stuff in thrift stores. I just need to find the time. Congrats Lois

The Mickey pool sounds good to me. That is where my boys will want to go as soon as we board. I am so ready for the break next week. I am plannng to make my ornaments with my students Monday and paint t-shirts Tuesday. Some teachers are giving tests, but I feel the kids won't do as well. They are too excited about the upcoming holiday.

My husband is away in Germany on business and won't return until Saturday night. I admire those moms who have husbands that travel on a regular business. I don't know how you do it.

Congrats on the furniture find, Momm2four. I'm never that lucky. My boys will be the same age as your boys on the cruise. They will be happy to know there are others the same age on board.

That's what's funny. I never seem to find the time either, but my DS10 must dress as some county music star on Friday, so right after school, I went there, intending to only duck in and out looking for a suit/bowtie for Jake. I said a prayer of thanks b/c I consider that my gift from the Lord. :)

My other son had a persuasive brochure due tomorrow, trying to persuade someone to go somewhere on vacation. Guess what he did? Yep, Disney Cruise Line! Where else would we want to go? LOL It turned out to be cute.

Think I need to go to bed.

Congrats on the find Lori - sometimes we find the best things in the most unexpected places. Did you have bad storms - TN (no towns mentioned, just the state) was on the news this morning with reports of some pretty heavy wind.

Snowing here again - oh what fun! I am trying to shift my focus from vacation to Christmas but I don't know how well that will work but I am going to try. I will get the living room all cleaned up so that when the boys get home we can put up the tree.

Tonight I am going to a cooking class here in town - how to cook for the diabetic. We have shifted some things around and he seems to be doing OK with it. Hopefully they will have some tips on sweets.

Take care everyone - it is almost the weekend!

I am sure they will but please take care with the artificial sweeterns. I am sure they are part of what made me so sick.

I understand that if you eat a heathy diet with very low refined carbs that folks with Diabeties can learn to manage it with out medications depending on how impaired the system is.

We plan to put up the tree this year. Never got it up year before. Maybe this year. Lois

Lois - I will share whatever recipes I get with you. David isn't big on sweets but the carbs (bread and pasta) are really playing havoc with him. He loved Wonder bread - the softer the better and that is no longer anything he can have. I have tried to find wheat with the same consistency - I have gotten close but I am sure will never get there. We have not tried the wheat pasta but have tried the healthier white pastas and they are OK - I always make him test his sugar after eating that for dinner and again in the morning to see what happens and nothing adverse yet. My Christmas baking will certainly be interesting this year.

Hello everybody! Just thought I'd check in. We're cold in north Georgia tonight! That cold front that brought the much needed rain (and a small tornado to a neighboring TN city) also brought much cooler temps. Oh well, it's almost Thanksgiving.

I am normally about to burst at this point as we near Thanksgiving vacation at school. However, my father-in-law will be coming to spend a week with us beginning the first day, so my emotions are mixed. :confused3 I know that sounds terrible, but my husband isn't particularly close with him. We only see him once a year at most. Maybe it will be better than I'm expecting. :thumbsup2

Has anyone heard if the GTY cabins have opened yet? I have a room booked, but will probably transfer it to a GTY once they open. My AAA travel rep doesn't seem as excited about my vacation as I am. Can you believe that? :lmao: Of course, DU spoiled me on this last quickie Wonder cruise. I already had this one booked through AAA or I would have used them again.

Well, off to get the kids wrangled into bed. One more day until the weekend!!

Here in Chattanooga we didn't have too much trouble other than a little flash flooding, but one town about 30 min. away had a tornado, I think, and one church halfway collapsed or the roof came off or something like that. Three children were cut be flying glass, but no serious injuries. Thanks for asking.

It's so cold here. We had a soccer game this evening and it's 38 degrees outside. It was SOOOO worth freezing my behind off though b/c our team won! This was against our chief rival and we have not beaten them in soccer in several years. It was soooo awesome! Sorry...just thrilled. :)

Gotta go, my son has another project due tomorrow and I need to help him get his little butt in gear!

Lori P. :)

My issue is I am sugar senitive and when I eat too many refined carbs I begin to have symptoms. The main sympton is pain. They say I have fibro which really means I have pain and they don't know why. The basic treatments and meds they used do not seem to work for me but if I follow the diet I feel much better. The diet is just one small part of my recovery I also take a number of supplements. I figure this out by reading a number (2 or 3) books.

I am glad everyone is OK. That is not the case always with those storms. I will continue to keep your region in my prayer that you all get the much needed rain. Also that you get it slowly enough that it absorbed and fills the rivers and lakes, not everyones basements.
