Hey everyone,
Had an adventurous end of the day. For those of you who don't know I am a school secretary. Well we started smelling smoke in the office. Not smokey smoke, just a smoke like smell, but we couldn't figure out where it was coming from. So I called the custodians over to check it out. We have 2 campus' so 2 of them had to come from the other side, about 2 blocks away. Our sides custodian, with a teacher started looking around the building trying to find out what it was since we determined it was coming from the vent (our office is separate from the classrooms.). So they come back through one door saying it's ok soandso is burning a candle, and my other 2 custodians coming through another door saying evacuate the building we have a gas leak.:scared1:
Seems that one of the custodians came over on the 4 runner and hit our gas regulator outside the back of the building (why it is there I have no idea). So emergency procedure mode kicks in, do a call over the PA saying to evacuate the building. Thankfully it was the end of the day so we had a few conferences going on and afterschool program, so only about a dozen kids on campus. Call district (this is policy), then vacuated the building and used my cell to call the other campus to call fire dept. And it is raining, not fun.
Everyone was ok though, and to make it better got to see guys in uniform:cloud9:

I have a question.....I hope no-one minds me asking.....

What about all the people from KK1 who arent going on this one? - where do they post now if we've shut the KK1 thread?

I feel sorry for Carrie etc who post often but arent going on KK2..:sad1:

Karen, thanks for caring about us! I went to post today and found out it had been shut down so I came over here to say "Good Bye! and Cheers!"

That does sound Scary. Was KCRA out? If so I'll probably see it on the news tonight.

What you need is a DIS intervention. Too bad you won't be around a few of us from KK1 anytime soon to work on her. :rolleyes1

I think you're right...this would work. Gotta look at the calender one of these days and see if we can get together again for a WisMeet. Keep us in mind if you can set something up. Just a little pressure and she'll crack.:woohoo:

No but the other school down the street from me is on KCRA, they had their band room broken into yesterday. I have to give kudos to our staff. They all got out, custodians got the gas turned off, the office staff got what we needed to be done done, and we all do it without panicking. We don't have a lot of emergencies, but when we do we just work together and don't cause more chaos.

Now thankfully it was afterschool, we were all thinking about how the kids would have reacted, wouldn't have been pretty.

I've thought of 2 options...please weigh in everyone!

Of course, they are welcome to post here, but if it were me, I think I'd get a bit depressed posting on a future cruise thread when I didn't get to go, SO...

Option 1 - Start a "Konked Kruisers Then and Now" thread and we can all post general random thoughts and silliness (you know, like we always do!).

Option 2 - Post messages on the Yahoo site - it's still open, and we can keep in touch that way.

Either way, we made so many great friends on the October 20th thread, I'd hate for that to end. I was sad that the lights were shut off on the old thread before I got to say goodbye - my PC was acting up and I could not get on the boards last night.

Thanks Jen:thumbsup2 - I just felt really sorry for our old KK1 friends - if I wasnt cruising I dont think I would pop on here very often. Maybe I will pm carrie and see what she thinks.

I wrote an invitation for them to join us here, I realize that it may be hard to post on a thread for a cruise that they are not on... but I figure that some of them have made good friends on the past cruise and may appreciate the invite.

People, the KK1 site is NOT hard closed (i.e. by the DIS Mods). I just suggested that we move over here to continue our conversations since most of us rebooked the 10/24/09 cruise.

So, there is no need to start any new threads, just go back and keep posting on the old one.

Also, no one is excluded from this thread either. It is a public thread. Everyone is welcome here. Just like I kept posting on KK1 when I was not sailing or Brenda who posted even after she had to cancel. Even Andy showed up on our thread every once in a while.

Good Evening Jeff............

No FO this time............:rotfl:

Evening Andy.

No, I'm done going for the FO's. But good job stealing it.

I was occupied reading someone's PM. :rolleyes1 BTW, you've got mail. :rotfl:

Yea, you have a PM as well.

At least that is better then having PMS like a certain teenager in my house..............:rotfl2:

Great news, Sean.:thumbsup2

It'll be interesting to see how much Olivia has grown.:)

Just popping in to say good morning! :goodvibes

We had half an inch of snow last night - started right about rush hour. You guys want to know just how "challenged" St. Louis drivers are?

It took me an hour to drive 6 miles last night.... on wet roads (because the pavement was still too warm for anything to stick). I pulled into a parking lot and cried for 15 minutes because I still had another 25 miles to go before I'd make it home, then I called Jay and asked him to find me an alternate route. The problem is that when you have to cross the Missouri River to get home, you only have four options.

So.... I left work at 4:45PM and got home at 7:45PM. I thought my intestines were going to jump up through my esophagus and throttle my brain I was so frustrated. :scared:

My gawd ... if we'd received an inch or more of snow they would have had to shut the whole stupid city down! :rotfl2:
