Here are some general thoughts from a history geek who has been to Virginia in the past and can't wait to visit again ...

Williamsburg
Virginia Beach
Jamestown
Mount Vernon
Monticello
Arlington
Norfolk
Richmond
The James River Road Plantation tour (it was a gorgeous drive when we did about 10 years ago)
All American Civil War Battlefields (in itself an impossibility in one trip, but it's a dream of mine to have a battlefield tour vacation)
A winery tour

I'm tapped for the moment ... :goodvibes

Gettysburg is in Pennsylvania - but definitely warrants a visit, especially if your hubby is a Civil War buff. It's an amazing and humbling place.

Oooh, I thought of some more ...

How about Roanoke? Is there anything there about the missing colony? That could be cool.

DC is always a great idea but that's going to take more than a day unless you just want to take them on a driving tour. I've been to DC twice now and still haven't scratched the surface of all that it has to offer.

Charlottesville ... I've always heard that they have a really nice historic district there with some great shopping and dining ... also some good wineries in that area I think.

You know I second guessed myself on that but I kept thinking about the movie Remember The Titans and thought it had to be Virginia since that is where the movie was based. I love the Civil War era as well and would love to visit some of the major sites. Sean is a huge history buff as well and if we had unlimited amounts of money we would be traveling all the time visiting various sites. I though want to visit all the major and not so major sites in the US. Then I want to go to Ireland, since that is where my Gram is from.

Well SIL just called and said my niece (3) came through her tonsillectomy ok. She woke up screaming and pulled her IV half way out, but that is just like our little fiesty one. When I was at disney I got her some get well presents that involved 2 pairs of socks with towmater and lightening mcqueen(she calls him KaChow), then a stuffed minnie mouse that had pjs and a robe on it, didn't realize that is was for mothers day until after I bought it good thing she can't read, and a little polly pocket style toy of minnie mouse

I'd love to go to Ireland, too. That's always on our radar but we never quite seem to make it there (like a lot of places).

One of the reasons I used to love driving to Florida on vacation was because we could always stop off at various Civil War sites along the way. We've been lucky enough to get to Murphreesboro, Chickamauga, Andersonville, Stone Mountain, and some museums and such in Atlanta.

Gotta run ... another meeting ...

Rick and I are trying to set up a blog.....any advice?

They're a soccer team...which we call football.

Yeah I had to call Sean and ask what it was, then it dawned on me that you also play rugby. I'm sure I will get all the ins and outs come August.

I like blogspot, haven't had any troubles with it. Although I have seen on the WB blogs that use that site that they cannot post any pics there when using the ships internet for some reason.

Karen, any more bike rides? I love to ride my bike. I just haven't in over a year!:scared1:

I tried to go yesterday but my *ss was having none of it after the marathon "short" ride Neil took me on the other day. It refused to go anywhere near the saddle:lmao:

Personally, I'd like to see historical, colonial type-stuff, but maybe Sean and Cath wouldn't....not sure if the "Brits" still hold a grudge for that little independence thing...:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Some Brits love history... others (me:rolleyes1 ) get bored stiff after reading two plaques:rolleyes: ... Neil is a "plaque"man...in Berlin he couldnt walk past a plaque without reading it:rolleyes2

We have sooooooooooo much history here we walk past castles without even looking:rotfl:

Senn one you've seen them all... castle shmastle:rolleyes1

....drive by posting....

:rotfl2:

Six flags, williamsburg, DC and the beach!!!

Now that sounds great:cool1:

Chelsea were robbed

Seriously - I fell asleep half way through extra time. Neil woke me up to ask if I wanted to watch the penalities, but my eyes wouldnt co-operate.

Glad your team won Chris. Did you buy a silly hat with flaps over your ears?:rotfl: I'm suprised the KGB didnt keep you in for questioning you being a mega secret agent spy and all that;)

This is me signing off for 4 days folks.. Have a good weekend everybody and pray for good weather for us:thumbsup2

A beach in the rain is no fun:sad2:

Also pray that the money in Neils wallet last the weekend:lmao: Ellis usually goes into "can I have" mode ...can I have a flashing lightsaber, chocolate , a flashing lightsaber for my other hand, more chocolate, a flashing lightsaber for this kid I've just met, chocolate for the same kid I've just met, a go on the go-karts, the trampoline, the quad bikes, mini golf, a hotdog that I wont like and wont eat, a burger that I wont like and wont eat, a slushy drink that I'll leave on the table til it melts:lmao: .......the list is endless.

This time tomorrow I'll be in the evening entertainment area watching Ellis at the mini disco and party games, followed by a cheesy cabaret:headache: - they actually improve after a bottle of bad wine:rotfl2:

Speak to you all Monday evening (if we last that long, we may come home earlier:rolleyes1 )
