Who knows after this trip we might be hooked and be on many more with all of you.. now that the kids are moslty grown it gets cheaper and trips become more likley again..lol :cool1:

Guaranteed, she'll have a flip chart and a slide projector somewhere in the living room for your viewing pleasure. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Please note...this evening is very important to us "over-achievers". Just popping in really quick ...

did you all see the article that American Airlines is going to start charging passengers $15 for their first checked bag and then $25 for each checked bag after that. :headache:

Policy apparently goes into effect June 1st.

That's crap - raise ticket prices if you have to because of fuel costs but don't penalize people for traveling. I don't know anyone who can go on a vacation without checking at least one bag.

I'm calling AA tomorrow and if there's any way for me to cancel the flight I have booked for October I'm doing it.

At this rate they're going to make the bathroom facilities on their planes pay toilets. :rotfl2:

Popping out now to get some work done. :upsidedow

By the time we cruise all the airlines will be doing something like that. It's inevitable, I'm afraid. :headache:

Hey Andy !

I hear you made it to Florida ok. Where are our pictures???:goodvibes

I'm sure they're hoping people won't mind too much since it's "only" 15 dollars...but that would be an extra 45 dollars if we were flying American and each took one bag. And, I'm sure they will now have problems with people trying to take huge carryon luggage because they have to pay for checked luggage.

Maybe it's a good thing we don't travel often....

Sure, they'll raise the prices of the flight AND charge us more for extra luggage.

That's good....you may even want an extra bag on the way back for souvenirs!

I'm hoping one of my kids brings home a "little souvenir" but not the kind you put in a suitcase. Wink-wink.;)

Have you seen that Disney commercial????

That is one of my all time favorite commercials...I still laugh every time I see it!!!

Ok, I gotta get back to work now....so I can afford the trips I have planned...

Bye!

Jeff, I found another article that claims any tickets purchased prior to June 1st will not be subject to this rule. If that's the case then I want something in writing since I bought our tickets in March.

While I don't like the charge for a second bag, I understand it (to a point). However, I think it's obscene to charge for a first bag when thanks to TSA people are severely limited to what they can now carry on the plane itself. To my way of thinking people are now being penalized by the airline for traveling in the first place.

Normally we fly Southwest to Orlando, but we just got such a great fare from AA that I had to book it. It sounds like they are also going to be cutting back on their overall flights, and I may still cancel just to avoid potential headaches as we get closer to October.

And I totally agree that this new policy is a great way for them to drive consumers into the arms of other carriers.

Suz just sent that article to me. It starts June 15th.

This is just insane. To charge for ONE bag? That makes it no different than a bus now, except in the air.

At least it was good to see that Delta was not going to follow suit. Hopefully this will backfire on AA and they will not impliment it.

BTW, what legal ground does a passenger stand on since when they entered into the contract (i.e. purchased the ticket), they were allowed 1 bag free of charge? :confused3 I know this was a discussion on the repo thread boards because of all the luggage people were taking for those trips.

We always fly SW into Orlando or Tampa, depending on if it is a disney trip or we like to cruise out of Tampa alot and they have a great airport.

I love SW and have never had a issue really, our last flight was delayed a hour but that was due to weather and you can't do anything about that.

I refuse to fly out of Canada as our flight prices are crazy. Our last flight BUF to TPA was $1500 for 4 of us during spring break, out of Toronto it was 3700.00 We pay huge taxes. Good thing I am only a 2 hour drive to Buffalo.

ps. She also know that I will broadcast that she is almost 4 years older than me and when she was a Senior, if we dated, I would have been in 8th grade. :lmao:

:lmao: Woody is 6 years older than me! We joke that he was graduating High school when I was in Middle school!!

Welcome Bernie & Family,

Andy- appreicate all the time you have with your daughter. When we took DS # 1 to college I cried all the way home for 3 hours. Then my neighbor came over to see how it went and I could not even talk. But it went so fast, now he and 4 years of junk are home.

I'm not going to cry, I'm going to party when I get home :cheer2:

Sure, I'll miss mine, but my home will be clean, I won't have to pick up after him or shout at him constantly to do his chores or homework or to TAKE A SHOWER!, the cats will be throwing a party too because he won't be there to maul him anymore, I can use my car and tv whenever I want!

Oh, my life will be good!:cool1:

I'll miss him, but I'll be texting him or IMing him probably a lot that he'll ignore me anyway!

Less than twelve weeks to go:yay:

Sorry, I know I should be more motherly and sad and stuff, but

HURRAH!:cheer2:

Brenda, I think I hear that all airlines will be following suit on that baggage fee soon.
I hate that too, cause I am a heavy packer!

And the pay toilets.....man I'd be paying lots for all my trips too!:rotfl2:

Yep we drive an hour to Norfolk fly Southwest. I LUV Southwest!! Great prices, direct flights, fun attendants and now with the new boarding procedure its even better! Flying out of Richmond on another direct flight (either Delta or Airtran)would cost us $500+. Flying SW out of Norfolk is usually under $200! We are flying down in 15 days and the total cost for both of us was $186!!:cool1:

That has always been one of my favorite commercials!:thumbsup2

Well, here's hoping for you then Nancy!:wizard:
