I will be in WDW and DL in the same month. There is just something wrong with me........:rolleyes1

The youngest we took our kids was three, It was hard on him cause he wanted to ride the rides and was too short. The most fun was when they were 5 & 7. We could ride everything and they weren't afraid of anything.

Listening to them talk the best vacations are the cruises and then the on trip where we just happened on Stars wars weekend.

Thanks for sharing that Joanne! That helps :goodvibes

DS was 4 1/2 on our first cruise, and will be 6 1/2 on the second cruise (BOB). I think the next big trip after that will be WDW when he's 7 or 8 (I will have to start paying better attention to the school calendar after this trip :sad2:).

LUCKY! I'm jealous....

We're doing 2 days in DL in December, but that's still a long ways off!

Which brings up a question actually....what age is a good age for kids to get the most out of WDW?

Pete's going to kill me when he finds out I'm secretly hoping to do a WDW trip the year after the BOB cruise, and I need some justifications! Our money tree hasn't been doing well (I hear they don't do well father away from their native soil near Milwaukee :lmao: ) but I SO want to take DS to WDW!

We took DS for the first time at age 3 1/2. It was good, but couldn't do all the rides (he's kinda short for his age) and not sure if he remembers it much. He remembers all the other trips after that though. He was almost 5 for the first cruise.

I think your DS is at an age where he'd get a lot out of it and remember it.

Remember not to do a run, run, run the first time down there with him. We did this and should have taken more breaks/hotel time. Now, we go back to the pool for a couple hour break each day.

(so you say I should move to Milwaukee to get the better soil for my tree then? Sure would like it to grow better.)

Good morning all,

Well I just booked a room at Port orleans for the end of the month. Three nights. I am crazy taking my 87 year old mother and my 67 year old sister? Shades of green was full. Which is a shame because they have two beds and a pull out. Now Two of us will have to sleep together. Ihope they give the driver the empty bed:love:

This is our first stay there. Any suggestions?

Happy Wednesday all.

Which Port Orleans are you staying? PO-FQ or PO-R?

Do you have your heart set on PO? I'm wondering if you could get a better rate at the Swan or Dolphin that is comparable to waht you are paying at PO. I'm thinking those resorts, too, because you'll be in a more convenient location with older women.

Good thought. Plus, aren't the beds there QQ instead of DD at PO?

YOu can get two double beds or one king and a sleeper sofa. The rooms are larger and you can't beat the location to Studios and Epcot as well as the luxury of having the Boardwalk right there.
I find that calling them directly to ask for rates returns more results than looking it up online. Ask for specials or the military rate.

Well, I guess I'm wondering when he will really remember and enjoy the attractions and atmosphere the most, since we will probably only do one or two trips to WDW during his childhood.

My parents took me to DL when I was 6, and I don't really remember a lot. DH went to WDW with his family when he was 8, and when we went to WDW for our honeymoon (and the only time I've been to WDW) he could still remember the layout of the parks. I also want to take him before he's "too old" to really enjoy the magic of Disney.

Are you really ever to old to enjoy the Magic?

DS still believes (he's 8). Not sure how much longer that will go.

I would say do one nice long trip the first time you take him and take it all in. Then you could do multiple shorter trips later, hitting just the highlights. That's what we did/do. I do want to get back though for another long trip there.

Oh, Thomas remembers the cruise for sure (Oct. 07)! We don't dare tell him yet that we're cruising again, because it's SUCH a long time to wait! he'll probably know by Christmas, 'cuz I'm making t-shirts for all our group for Christmas gifts. But he remembers meeting the characters, and kids club, etc.

We normally don't tell DS about any trip we're doing. He knew about the KK cruise because of Karen's DS and he knows about the BOB, but that is so far out he doesn't think about it.

He is unaware of the Repo, but Suz is telling him on the 30th, his last day of school. She does not want him distracted before then.

I really want to do a week at WDW when we go....so we can do the main 4 parks well. The waterpark isn't a big deal as we have lots of waterparks north of us. We also wouldn't do Universal or anything on the first trip.

I'm also debating which property to stay at - we stayed at Contemporary in '99 and we really liked being on the Momorail, but it's a Deluxe property. Not sure where we'd stay to have easy access to everything.

Oh, and about the money tree...I jsut meant that Janesville was way too far away for it to be healthy - yours seems to be doing fine! ;)

I think we told DS about KK a couple of weeks beforehand, so he could get excited about it too, but usually we wait until a week or so ahead of a trip to tell him. He gets excited about everything - he even gets excited about getting his hair cut!

That sounds like what I want to do...

How about sometime in 2010, Jeff? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Nancy answered this...were you able to find your maps??

No problem, I will get it done later :thumbsup2

Melody, I know how you feel...it just KILLED me that we couldn't do the repo this year. When we couldn't do the first one, I swore we would do the next one if there was one. Just didn't have the money or time off for Rob. :sad1:

I was very sad on the weekend when the Magic left, that's the one I wanted to book. :sad2: I hope to be one the next one for sure ::yes::

Walt & Di, great pics!! Di, that's a great one of you in front of the flowers at Epcot :thumbsup2

thanks Timon. We really had a great time. Diane:yay: :yay: :yay:

Which one is CBR? Where is it located?

Ok, I think I have a disease...I'm starting to ask questions about WDW hotels for a possible trip 2 1/2 years away!!!!:scared1:
