Jen - I was about to say the same thing - I would take him while he's young enough to skip school without it being a problem. If you went out of busy season eg November - the parks are empty and you get much better character interaction and no lines for rides.

Ellis has been going since he was 15 months old, but I'd say about 7 or 8 if you only plan on going once or twice - old enough to go on most rides and he'll remewmber it all too:thumbsup2

Yeah.....:rolleyes1 ........ I dont tell Ellis either:rolleyes1 ........ he guessed......:rolleyes1 . not sure how...... might have been something to do with me leaping eround the lounge yelling "we're going to Disney for christmas":confused3 :rotfl:

I couldnt keep it a secret for a second....I'm too much of a kid. I get waaaay more excited than Ellis.:rolleyes1

You know, I said before that the BOB cruise (when he's in 1st grade) would be the last time I took him out of school for a trip, and mostly because we planned it before he started school at all! But, I may have to bend that one more time for WDW...it would be nice to go when it's not busy.

Jeff, Cheryl, have you done WDW during teacher's convention? Think it would be busier then, or still slow?

Yup, just about half :sad2: And we pay GST (goods and services tax) on just about everything. At least we don't have provincial tax in Alberta. Most provinces have a sales tax on top of the GST. It's one of the reasons we don't live in British Columbia, you have to fork over 15% tax on everything  (well as of January 1st of this year, it went down to 13%)
Otherwise I would be living in Victoria, where it rains in the winter instead of snowing :thumbsup2

Ouch!

There is talk from some people about doing a national sales tax, that must be the same as your GST.

The tax code in the States was nuts until the mid-80's. Then they finally came down. But like I said, I have a feeling we'll be going in the wrong direction next year here.

We have a State tax here in WI and it is one of the higher ones. Plus we have property taxes on our home, 5% state sales tax (higher if your county jumps on it too) and now they have a new way of squeezing money out of us - fees. They jack all the fees up so they don't get killed for raising taxes. The sad thing is, most of the public falls for it. :sad2:

Hey Chris, we can add Kristin and Stacy too. Once Lynn cleans everyone's teeth, the girls can tighten, adjust, add, and remove all orthodontics work. Anyone else out there willing to donate their talents for to make us all healthy?

I am not offering my services because no one is going to have what I work with!!!!!!!!! Let's all be optimistic!!!!! Although I am also a certified x-ray technologist so if anyone can fimd me an x-ray machine I'm more than happy to take a quick look (although I haven't done that since school MANY years ago!)

Walt and Di.......I love the pics......more please.

And you two look FAB!!!!!!!:cool1:

I hear you, Jeff....I don't think it's going to get any better for a long time...:sad2:

Nope, and indications yesterday are telling what will probably happen in November.

The 2009 tax year will be much worse than the 2008 year.

Wonder if "powers that be" that will be putting all these new taxes on us will at least extend the Coverdell ESA rules past 2010 to include High School tuition. That is the one thing I'm hopeing for right now.

I'm past the $5,000 limit for child care years, but still think that is stupid. Needs to be $10,000-$20,000 at least.

AMT is set way to low as well.

LUCKY! I'm jealous....

We're doing 2 days in DL in December, but that's still a long ways off!

Which brings up a question actually....what age is a good age for kids to get the most out of WDW?

Pete's going to kill me when he finds out I'm secretly hoping to do a WDW trip the year after the BOB cruise, and I need some justifications! Our money tree hasn't been doing well (I hear they don't do well father away from their native soil near Milwaukee :lmao: ) but I SO want to take DS to WDW!

Julia is 5 1/2 and loved it this time. And seemed to get even more out of it. We go every year and I think 4 and 5 are the best!!!!!

The KK cruise was over Teachers' Vacation weekend last year and so is the BOB.

Yes, we've done WDW over that weekend. I didn't find it crowded at all, but did notice a lot of British people there in 2006. The problem is trying to get on the flights. You need to book at 330 days or pay a fortune.

But if you're looking at going during the school year, that is probably the best time.

The other time I'd look is the last week of August. If you can handle the heat, they usually have free dining. The parks were dead too and no one is really leaving WI that time of year - it is the one time you can count on the weather here.

Becky, can we see some more DL pics??? :goodvibes That view you had was amazing!!! One day I would like to stay there. My brother went to DL last year and called me to ask where he should stay. It was a business trip so he had some cash to spend so of course I told him the GC! He said it was gorgeous!!!

Everytime he goes somewhere, he calles me to ask where he should stay.

And even though I've never been to some of these resorts, I always seem to know where to stay! :thumbsup2

And Jen, you thought YOU had a problem :rolleyes1 I plan for trips that I will probably never take  Like a week at the Atlantis Resort, a week on Turtle Island, a week at The Hapuna Prince Resort

sigh

The lotto is 25 million on Friday...need to get me some tickets :goodvibes

I don't even want to start on that topic :scared1:

But I do agree that AMT is now out of whack and the $5000 limit for child care is just too low.

I don't think flights would be too bad if we book early and book out of Chicago - that's what we did for KK, and it seemed to work fine. And, they ususally have convention scheduled a couple years out, so I could confirm the dates.

Last week of August might be ok too - free dining would be awesome! I wonder why that's a slow time, just because of the heat or everyone's getting ready for back-to-school?
