Could you have parlayed the Military/FL Discount into an upgraded room? (i.e. keep what you're paying and just book a higher category for the same price)

The pricing right now from my Cat 10 to a Cat 7 on DCL's site is $520. Since I get a 10% reduction for my onboard booking, it is $468. The prices haven't changed in almost 2 years.

I won't go for a balcony in port unless it is $300 or less. Even then, I don't know.

We go for SPH first and if not available, we will go Cat 9, Deck 2, Starboard, Mid-ship after that.

We went all out on our first cruise and got the balcony, but now we'd rather go cost efficient and do more trips/cruises in a year.

Now if we go on another line, we will probably spring for a balcony seeing that they are about the price as a Cat 9 on DCL.

My OCD kicked in when I got the SPH. I was doing one of my random price checks/room checks and saw on expedia that 5522 was available. My parents were in 5520. I called DU and they told me what to do. Being that we were in a 10 already, I just had to request a room change. In a few minutes, I noticed my original room showing up on the inventory, and 5522 not being available. It was great having that window, so I am really keeping my fingers crossed for an upgrade.

Just think, in 2 months, it will be the week before the cruise. A lot of the US BOBers will be finalizing everything and getting ready to head on down.

I know the UKers and Canadians will be in early, how early are the Americans getting down to FL?

I am on hold with DCL.The military & florida rates are out. We will lose our 200.00 one board credit but saved $$452.00

I see the hot topic right now is whether or not to upgrade....for those of you who received a bit of and got a free upgrade, how did you find out? Did Disney call you? Maybe 4th time is a charm for me?? Right now we are a Cat 9 on deck 2, but I would love to have a veranda...maybe if I can upgrade for less than $400, I might bite

We found out online. The lame AAA travel agent that took over for my crack on-the-ball agent contacted me about a week and a half later to tell me. She was surprised that I already knew. Shouldn't have been, I was always a step or two ahead of her.

HAvn't even thought about it. DS # 2 wants to go to WDW for his 21st birthdsy so he can drink around the world at Epcot in the Wine & food Festival. So I need to plan that one first. Sept 25-26-27! I am hoping to get beach club so we can walk to Epcot. I will call today and see what's open.

I can't stand travel agents like that! I stopped using them. I sometimes act interested to score some brochures, etc, then book myself.

I do like DU though.

I am gathering stuff together, but nothing in suitcases yet.

However, I do have a 4 column packing list written out - usually half my packing is done ahead of time in my head/on paper, then I just get it all in to the bags a couple weeks ahead of time.

I have my checklist done and a few things in the bag. I will not really start the big push until Oct 1.

Mine's 7512...we have portholes, but not balconies. We had similar rooms in 2007 (I think I had 7506) and we liked the location. Two floors up for adult pool, two floors down for kids club.
