We would take a free upgrade, but am too cheap to pay for!!

This may sound crazy, but I'm not sure I'd want an upgrade. Right now, all the family is in a row of 4 cabins (cat 8) on deck 7 so it would be a bummer to get split up.

Or would it.....:idea::rotfl::rotfl2:

It's noce to be close, we are also on 7, 7619 what are your cabins?

Hi Jeff :wave2:

I see the hot topic right now is whether or not to upgrade....for those of you who received a bit of pixiedust: and got a free upgrade, how did you find out? Did Disney call you? Maybe 4th time is a charm for me?? Right now we are a Cat 9 on deck 2, but I would love to have a veranda...maybe if I can upgrade for less than $400, I might bite ;)

I don't think anyone here got an upgrade yet. At least not that I heard of. Usually the free upgrades will be in about 4 weeks from now.

Could you have parlayed the Military/FL Discount into an upgraded room? (i.e. keep what you're paying and just book a higher category for the same price)

They have nothing for tampa, and only three people are on the cruise meet thread!!!! What is wrong with them???

Yes, it can be a bit slow. Not as active as us. There might be some information on hotels within the board threads.

You and me both!

Last cruise, the price between a 10 and 11 was $100. I took the 10, originally booking on deck 7, then managing to snag a SPH room right next to my parents SPH. Imagine that luck!

This time around, the price difference at booking between a 10 and 11 was about 300 and I think between an 11 and 9 was about $500. I decided to just keep the 11 and take a chance at an upgrade.

If you get one...how do you know?

Back when I got mine for our Jan '06 cruise, the DCL site was acting up. No one could get into their ressies. Then the ressies were accessable, but nothing was listed in the room number area. A couple days later, it popped up and we moved form 2554 to 6138.

We go for SPH first and if not available, we will go Cat 9, Deck 2, Starboard, Mid-ship after that.

We went all out on our first cruise and got the balcony, but now we'd rather go cost efficient and do more trips/cruises in a year.

Now if we go on another line, we will probably spring for a balcony seeing that they are about the price as a Cat 9 on DCL.

Interesting...I will keep checking their website.

Sorry for not using quotes, but it doesn't work from work :rotfl:

Joanne, you working on that poem for Karen? May I steal it from you since I'm close behind you? :rotfl:

Jeff - read the posts before you respond. :rotfl:

Exact same thoughts as you Steve. Did you book onboard or not? The $550 should be discounted by 10% if you did. :thumbsup2

You are correct Jeff, I misspoke it should cost us about $495 to upgrade.
