Another warm and humid day here in Maine. Weather man says High 80's with thunder boomers this afternoon.
As of this past Saturday along with us I hope everybody got there excurisons and and other plans settled. I know Parlo was a hot ticket. We were lucky and got the brunch thanks to Fort Walton Beach:rotfl::rotfl:.
Everybody have a great day.

Good morning everyone! Day 3 of VBS today and also finance work day at the office. That shouldn't be that big of a deal though. I can fly right throught finance work.
Wow, expected a lot of pages to catch up on and only had about 4. I just finished day 7 of 9 in a row. Laura and the kids are going to Pinecrest (Mountain Lake) for the rest of the week tommorrow for our churches family camp. I'm joining them on Thursday night. I really need that R&R. The crazies have been coming out of the woodwork lately. It's very draining to have to deal with people whose perception of reality is so very different than your owon
I deal with the highlighted stuff on a day to day basis. It's amazing the messes people get in due to addictions and overall stupidity, then they expect us to basically give them a blank check to solve their problems. Its interesting at Christmas. We get people that say, "thats it???" when their kids get 2 decent toys, 2 small toys, stocking stuffers, clothes, a turkey, and the trimmings. Their are others that are so grateful that they walk out in tears.

Just last week an interesting thing happened to me. It was a busy day and parking in our city is crazy. We fortunately have a private lot that is on our property. Well I was running errands, returned and had no regular spot, so I pulled off to the side basically blocking our other car, and our office worker, but there was clear access for everyone else. A disgruntled client, who was able to park, just had to be a little creative started complaining out loud as I was leaving shortly after. I said, "this is my lot, I can pretty much park how I want. If there isn't a parking spot, I am going to be creative." He didn't think so and began to argue with me!

I mean, its my lot after all. I am going to park in it, whether I block others or not!!! They will just have to come and ask me to move my car if I block them. That rarely happens but it has a few times.

I had a woman today who pulled her mother from a care home because she thought that she could care better (a noble thought, right) Then got mad when her Mother decided it was a good idea to water the plasma television. Then suddenly it's our problem that she did this and WE need to find a place to house her mother. (previous place would have nothing more to do with them) Our poor Social Services people spent most of the day unravelling that mess!

Then there was the woman who came to the ER because of unbearable pain that wouldn't hardly give us a history (she just wanted us to treat her w/o any assessment whatsoever) While our Physician was in the room assessing her, I was in the room at all times. Once the physician finished the woman pulled all kinds of wild accusations out of a hat and insisted that the Doctor did not want to treat her. When she signed out against medical advice she then got mad at me for assisting her to the waiting room (she wanted me to call an ambulance for her and have her transported to another hospital) Suddenly in the Waiting room, the woman who was in too much pain to move got up from her wheelchair and stormed out of the ER without so much as a limp, threatening lawsuits all around. That's just a small sample of the whacked out days that I have been dealing with lately.
:scared:
Wow!:crazy::scared:

Talk about crazies:

Bob's ex- wife is now refusing to send his daughter here for the visit that he's already paid the airfare on and rearranged his vacation schedule at work to accomodate her being here for 3 weeks.:headache::mad:

He's so upset.

It was all over a squabble about how she couldn't come up with the money to send Shawna here so that Bob would have to pay. He told her she was way overdue
(she's supposed to come every summer and every other Christmas and birthday and they are supposed to alternate who pays the airfare)
And Shawna hasn't been here since 2006 and Bob paid for that time too!

So he told her she should at least pay half and that he'd take $100 out of her monthly support check for 6 months to cover her half...... she never said yes or no.

Technically, a year ago she asked for $100 extra a month and he did it willingly but they never put it in writing.
So..... technically he's still paying her the stated $ in their divorce agreement, but
she's so pissed about this she told him she is refusing to put Shawna on the plane next week!:headache:

Unbelievable how a parent could do that to their ex and also to their child.
(honestly that $100 is only worth about a bit over half in Germany anyway!)

So now he's cancelled the plane fare.... with no refund either! Only credit toward future flights. (which he could have used the $$ for his house closing)

And I really can't change the cruise to include him.
My girlfriend is so looking forward to it and she would not want to cancel.

What a mess:headache:

And Bob was so looking forward to seeing his daughter too:hug:

Sounds like you work in Stress Central. Anything like House?

I've not ever seen House (just a commercial now and then) I actually avoid shows on TV that are medically related, It's just too much like work! But the jist of House is that he's a crazy smart Doctor that has intuitive leaps towards diagnosis of maladies that everyone else misses. I've met Doctors like that and it is an awesome experience to see them in action. Honestly though, Diagnosis is usually fairly easy. I would say that History is 70-80% of the job, the rest is physical assessment. Just listening to your patient will get you farther than most Lab and Radiological tests. I have seen physicians rely on their tests to make their diagnosis for them and I have seen physicians who use the tests to confirm their diagnosis. The latter are always smarter but the former probably get sued far less.

Could it be that maybe she just wanted a little bit of oxycodone, hmmm, I wonder...:lmao::lmao:

People like this make it bad for the rest of those with real pain. My sister recently went through something like this with her doctor. She was suffering with headaches (not something she has ever had before) and had to really convince her doctor that she wasn't lying. When she was telling me about it, and she was so insulted by his disbelief, I told her that I thought he was maybe concerned that she wanted pain killers just for the high. When she had to go back a second time, she told him, I don't like taking drugs, I have never taken drugs and I hope we can find out what's wrong with no drugs.

I think it ended up to be her sinuses--weird because the pain was on the top of her head.

So some people have a family wreath instead of a family tree--so what, who cares?:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

You've stumbled upon the dilemma that we in healthcare deal with every day. It is sometimes hard to determine who is in real pain and who is just looking for their next fix. because the latter can be very convincing. Often I will go out of my way to help someone who I think is really suffering and make a big case to the doctor that something has got to be done only to have them point out the numerous times that they have been in the ED with a crazy long list of varying unrelated pain type complaints then they call the persons pharmacy and find out they've been prescribed a 100 vicodin over the last week. (they're selling the stuff to our children!) And I stand there looking like a fool because I believed them.

About your friend, that is called referred pain. Often nerves that are connected to each other will react with stimuli. The head is full of nerves that are interconnected. So when one area is irritated you can feel it in another area.

Chris, yep it's pretty much the same thing. Some are Greatful as can be for your help (those are the ones I do it for) and others will get themselves stabbed at a childs party and they and their gangbanger friends will threaten you with bodily harm if you don't save their life.

I usually try to only dwell upon those who genuinely need my help and are appreciative for it and promptly forget the clods who abuse the system. but this past week has made it very difficult! Thanks everyone for letting me let off some steam.

That Bites! I really hate all of the stuff that goes on with child custody. I wish that people would be adults and conduct their business honorably.

Good morning all!!! I have been AWOL from the dis for a couple of days. I will have to get caught up.

For those of you waiting, Disney has released the fall codes through Christmas Eve. I will probably be calling Central Reservations later today to see what I can get. Here is the link from Mousesavers

Hello everyone,

I posted a few times about 90,000 posts ago back on thread 1. Boy you guys have been busy! I haven't been around here much but we're still going on this cruise.

This has probably been covered, but does anyone know when DCL will be having their halloween activities? We cruised the Magic last year and they had trick-or-treating on the 30th, I think because we were on Castaway Cay on the 31st. With us disembarking on the 31st I didn't know if they will be celebrating Halloween on our cruise or the one embarking on the 31st.

Also, last year they had some special Halloween themed gift items that they had available to order but I don't remember how far ahead they sent those brocures out. Has anyone seen anything like this this year? We'll probably order from Shirley anyway but I like to know what is available.

We've got most of our planning done and now it's just anxiously watching the countdown clock...

Paul

Hi Paul!
Welcome back. Just in time to start getting uber-excited:yay:
Keep posting with us.

Oh, BTW, I can't answer any of your questions, but just thought I'd say hi:upsidedow

Mornin' Karen  I actually clocked over 12,000 steps yesterday without even trying all that hard. Yes, I did take my dog for a walk and walked around the warehouse at work a little but nothing all that spectacular. I do have a desk job but since I'm in charge of the warehouse too, I do get up quite a bit too. I'm loving this thing though. It's quite motivating isn't it?:yay:

WELL DONE YOU!:yay::woohoo::dance3: It is motivating:yay: - unfortunately its been raining all day today so no wlak for me today. I'vebarely clocked up 2000 miles - been either driving or in travel agents all day.... still no luck booking a holiday:sad2:

Bob's ex- wife is now refusing to send his daughter here for the visit

He's so upset.

Oh how awful for him:sad2: and his daughter too:sad2:

You're right, that $100 wouldnt go far in Germany - she sounds real mean:scared: I hope she realises what she's done in time to put it right.:sad2:

From what I have gathered listening to others discuss this topic, Halloween is celebrated on the night of. Therefore the next cruise will have some sort of festivities but not ours. I could be wrong. But I haven't heard anyone dispute this on the boards.

Hey all! Wow - it HAS been quiet. Im sure it will ramp up soon for us first time Disney Cruisers who get to book their excursions on 8/10!!!

Just a quick update - my brother made it to the states this morning and as of right now, he is in Denver, Colorado trying to get a plane to Little Rock (Iraq to Kuwait to DC to DENVER (??) to Little Rock..... some travel agent he got!!)

I set up a caringbridge site so if you are interested in keeping up with the twins, i will post everything there - that way we can keep this board ALL CRUISE related (and it will be my "respite"!)

Here is the site: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/hedrickwondertwins

Thanks again for all your pryaers and hugs. They are truly appreciated!!

You are probably right. Last year they celebrated on the 30th, but that may have been a change in plans. The 30th was an unscheduled stop in Key west after being unable to tender in Grand Cayman due to weather. Many things got rescheduled that trip.

Is anyone else scheduling through non-Disney excursions? There seem to be some nice options out there. We already booked 2 and are waiting to book the Doubloon on the 10th.

Regarding Halloween, I think we will be telling our son that he is dressing as a pirate this year and we are celebrating early ;)
