That's good. You want it to be nice for your party, I'm sure.:thumbsup2

Yes it will be. At least it won't be as hot as last week. We wouldn't be doing too much other than sitting. Even that was hot.

To tell you how bad it is yesterday and today, the weatherman just came on and said, "it would be hard to have a worse summer day than yesterday, but we'll give it a try today". :sad2:

I feel so bad for Hazel and AFEG. I think they only packed summer clothes because it was so hot last week.

It's gotten hotter since we got back from Florida, and the mosquitoes have started. You know, typical summer weather.

Yes, they do have an all-day celebration here on the base. There is a resevoir with camping/picnic grounds where they have fun family events and fireworks. As for personal fireworks, they are not allowed on base. Now the DC fireworks are great! We've been up there years ago (the last time we were stationed here) and they were absolutely awesome! Reminds you of the fireworks at WDW, but a different feel--more patriotic with all the monuments around.

With the wind and cold, the mosquitoes haven't been too bad, but they say the current eggs should hatch by the weekend.

Sounds like the celebrations out there will be really nice. Will you guys be doing the base stuff or heading up to DC?

As for fireworks, you can't do personal ones here either, but that doesn't stop people. :rolleyes1 We can see about 18+ community displays from our backyard. We haven't gone to a fireworks display since we've moved here. Once they build in the field behind us (hoping for another 5 years), that will probably end.

Lori, as Nancy said, there are 3 groups of us on the Sunday Noon fllight (which by the way people, has changed again, but now a little later - 3rd change now).

As Jen said, she is on the same flight, but on Saturday (for you Jen, you know have an extra 16 minutes to get tot the airport, but I suspect we'll see at least 2 more changes before we go).

How's the weather out East Paige?

Do they have a big celebration on the base for the 4th, or do you guys go up to DC? I'd love to be in DC once on the 4th.

Jeff, yes, I noticed they moved the flight again (they also pushed back my outgoing flight by over an hour, but oh well).

Pete was in DC once over the 4th of July and said the fireworks were really a sight to see. He wants to take Thomas some day when he's old enough to appreciate it.

I have never done any travelling on the East Coast (except Orlando :) ) so someday I can see doing trips out to Washington DC, Virginia, etc. I'm still debating New York City - it's a bit intimidating to me!

The kids really want to do DC, so I think that's what's going to happen.

What's the temp?

Currently 54, high today around 65.

Tomorrow is 74 out by our house (we're away from the lake - Lake Michigan effects the weather drastically. AFEG couldn't believe the size of it when they flew over it).

The weekend they are calling for a high of 80 (lows in the upper 50's).

I was in NYC earlier this year and the people there were very nice and very helpful! :thumbsup2

Thomas will be learning a lot about US early history in 3rd grade. I'd plan a trip to DC the summer after that year.

Well, y'all, I've got to get going. I need to take Derek to swim practice and then drive up to the Army base (30 minutes north with no traffic-so not too bad) to get my MRI cd. Later, Emily and I are headed to Potomac Mills Outlet Mall for some shopping......

Y'all have a great day. Jeffy, tell AFEG and the gang hello from me!

He did something about a week and a half before they came. It's a bummer because I wanted to take him golfing today. But based on the weather, we wouldn't have been going.

Hand him a snow shovel Jeff. YIKES is it ever cold outside this morning. We are having rain right now too.

They are just horrible at our house already. Must be the creek that runs behind our house. :scared1:

I know those people.:rotfl:

Of course, I sign on again and everyone signs off. Story of my DISlife. :headache:

Will do (once he wakes up - guess they got over the jet lag :rotfl:). Have a great day.

I'm sure people in NY are great - I just have a slight fear of big cities - it includes LA, Chicago, WA DC, and Boston, all of which have things I'd love to see someday.

I think Pete was thinking after 3rd or 4th grade.....my gosh, how's that for planning ahead?

I'm still here MG! The boss is out of the office again today ;)

I was hoping mine would be too but no such luck. :headache:

BTW...I'm dying to do NYC myself one day. Kristin wants to go with me so maybe one day we'll do that together. It's on my Bucket List. :cutie:

OK...I guess it's close enough to 8:00 now. Have a great day everyone and good-luck with the :sail:!!!
