10/24/2009 Bash On the Boat (I'm with B.O.B.) - Thread 24

OK, question time...

I just went to My Disney Cruise and discovered that Megan (Age 11) is no longer eligible for the Oceaneers Lab. It shows that on the Magic, it is only for 8 to 10 year olds. However, on the Wonder it is for 8 to 12 year olds.

Where do the 11 year olds go on the Magic? They are presumably too young for the teen club. (aren't they?)

What are the cutoffs for the teen club? Megan will turn 12 on the cruise.

Thanks for any replies...

MAtthew - I am so glad to see that I'm not the only one that happened to. Since it's our first cruise I didn't know what to expect, but when we checked our online ressies, the only one showing up for the oceaneers lab is our 8 yo becca- not our 11 year old Abby.

I will be calling Disney tomorrow to give them our passport #s - I will ask them then and let u know (it's a
sooooo confusing!!!)

BTW - are you comfortable letting her check herself in and out of the clubs herself? If I remember right, she is going into 6th grade (like my. 11 yo Abby)

Thanks, I will be interested in what they say. As Lori pointed out, the 11 & 12 year olds have gone to the Lab on our previous two cruises. (Although the last one was on the Wonder). Sarah (our 9 yo) is the only one that shows up to register this time. It seems odd.

On our first cruise, we were a bit hesitant about letting them check in and out by themselves. We got over that pretty quickly though after we got comfortable with the process. They give you a pager and whenever they check in or out, they send you a message telling you where they are going and for how long. I am not concerned about letting them check in and out by themselves for this cruise. The girls generally stay together and usually travel in a group with other kids. Megan thought it was great that she could check herself out and go up on deck to get ice cream with one of her new friends.

It also gives them a chance to demonstrate that they can be responsible. :thumbsup2

With that being said, I wouldn't want her wandering the ship alone. If she wanted to leave by herself, she would text us and we'd come get her to join us.

I'm here!!!!!!!! Tell Beth I will reply to her PM in a bit.:thumbsup2

Hi Lori,

No worries, I have been in and out on the thread for a while, and I hadn't seen you post. I was a bit worried that something happened and you became a FOB while I was away from the thread. I hope your Summer is going well.

Now that our WDW trip is over, the cruise seems a lot closer. I was walking around the Beach Club Resort the other day and I was imagining our stay there the night just before the cruise. I can't wait. Of course, once it gets here, it will go WAY too fast.

I don't know what we will do after the cruise. We don't have any definitive plans for our next vacation. We have a vague plan to visit my parents in Las Vegas next Summer and work in a 5 night Disneyland trip. No more cruises until the new ships hit the seas, I think.

Take care,

Matthew

And here's my two cuties...

All time favorite! Only thing that could make this better would be if you were in it as well. She is absolutely gorgeous.:cutie:

For my Beer Drinking Friends,

Had a Boddingtons Draft Ale with Bangers and Mash (Grilled (3) British sage sausages with whipped potatoes, onion gravy and spicy mustard) for lunch on Friday with my Harley Friends. The beer was an excellent Ale. :thumbsup2

Walt :cool1:

Sean love Boddingtons. I'm sure we will be picking up a few for camping this week.

Yes please.

I'll pm you with my email address - thank you Heather:goodvibes

That does sound like a good deal. But then I'd have to figure out how to get them home.

Hmmmm, I hadnt thought of that:rolleyes1

Gotta try that blue cheese and grape pizza this time since you've mentioned it so much!:woohoo::yay:

Heaven on a plate:cloud9:

I would definitely recommend KSC, especially with a 9 year old boy. We had not been for about ten years. It is MUCH better than the last time we were there. It comes out to about $35 per person. That includes pretty much everything though. The bus tour is excellent. They have constructed a viewing stand that is four stories tall. At the top, there is even an air conditioned viewing room (Windows all around). There is a small gift shop and snack bar at the ground level. You can stay as long as you want since buses run every 15 minutes. Just get on the next bus when you're ready. The next stop is the Saturn 5 Center. This is a much larger area with exhibits, a larger gift shop, food court, etc. (And of course, the Saturn V rocket laying on its side inside the building.) The final stop takes you to the area where they test and prepare modules and other items bound for the International Space Station. (Very Cool) :thumbsup2 Then its back to the main visitors complex. They have a new motion simulator ride that simulates a shuttle liftoff. This is included in your admission price. The seating is very similar to Star Tours at Hollywood Studios (Except that you seem to lift up to a 90 degree angle.) Very intense, don't miss it. Oh, and there are a few IMAX movies that are free as well.

We got there just after the 9:00 AM opening. Parking is free. We left at 4:30 PM.

All in all this was a great day and a great value for the money.

Is that enough of an endorsement for ya. :thumbsup2

You won't be disappointed.

Matthew :flower3:

Sounds perfect:thumbsup2 Thanks Matthew:thumbsup2

I hope not to be off the ship til about 8.30am - (gonna try and hang around a bit!) so we'll be at Kennedy for opening. Our flight isnt til 8.40pm from MCO, so we have the whole day to kill. We'll go there, leave about 4pm, head up towards the airport and grab some early dinner then into the airport... to go home:sad1:

I'm mad with myself:mad:

Yesterday I found a lovely pine lodge for rent for August for a week. Lovely location near the Lake District, beautiful location - right on a lake, georgous interior, onsite restaurants and pool etc etc...looked perfect!

It was available yesterday..... had an email off the owner last night - its now been booked:rolleyes:

Chris - are you making bacon butties?

I'd kill for a buttie right now,

Unfortunately its got to be melon and strawberries for me:rolleyes::angel:

Morning

Yup, it will open up at 5am your time on July 26th :thumbsup2

Thanks Cass. We'll as it's Sunday, I could get up early and log on, book everything and then go back to bed.

Just got back from dinner with my hubby and on the way home, we stopped at Target. I always stop by their dollar section at the front and some of their stuff was 75% off (Mike - that means the dollar stuff is only 25 cents:rotfl2:)

Well, they had some really cute Disney stuff - pencils, crayons, notebooks, etc - great stuff for the Dis Tag!! I'm so excited because it's the first thing I have gotten for the cruise.....

Makes it all the more real!

Won't be on too much tonight - have a killer sinus headache! :headache:

Lucky you...Target and Walmart are stores that Rick and I miss.

Yep it worked. I got my Palo ressies and my excursions. In St Maarten, we are doing Under the Two Flags Tour and in St. John we are doing the Mini Boat Adventure.

Heather--the mini boat excursion is scheduled for 7:30 am - noon. Just FYI for your planning.

I am a happy camper now. Sherri, thanks again for your help. I was getting all worked up for nothing.:scared:

Paige - what time did you get for the Two Flags tour.
