So, anyone have big plans for today?

SHOVELING!!!:headache:

This was the family trip, my mom and sister, DS # 1 and girlfriend, Best friend and her Grandmother & Uncle. This was the welcome aboard lunch, we had already lost all the kids to the teen club!! We were 16 in total and for dinners they had us at one table. It was so much fun. We had great servers.

I love family trips!! You had some group there Joanne. :cool1:

You want some? I can bring it over when I drop off the Wii remotes (thank btw for that, made playing a lot easier).

No thanks and don't worry about those remotes. Tomorrow is fine. It's horrible out there!!!

So Nancy, venturing out this morning? The plow just came through our subdivision. Not sure what the roads are like. We are set to run out around noon to drop one of the boys off. We'll probably swing by after that. Not sure if we're taking L to his zoo class or not. Not canceled yet.

We went to Sams and Target and it seems it only got worse out there. I was dying for my Friday's Jack Daniels chicken today, but may have to put that off for when it isn't so ugly out there.

It will be interesting. I do my own the old fashioned way due to the way we have to claim with our unique compensation. The tax software, and people at H & R Block would be clueless and we are advised against going to a tax preparer outside of The Salvation Army.

The tax programs (whether one you bought or a service uses - they all use software) are pretty detailed. As long as you receive some form of report for your income, you won't miss anything. Plus, you can e-file, although you could do that for free anyways with the IRS.

I think we're mid-20's to 30 today, but we're getting dumped with snow. 2 of the parents came already and said the roads aren't that good out there. We have country road outside our subdivision (farms on the side of it) and the farmers didn't put up snow fences this year. I guess the drifting on the roads is really bad. If we didn't have to take the one boy out today, we'd probably just skip DS's zoo class and stay home.

That would be my choice........;)

You guys don't have a snow blower? You really need one if you live here.

As for the roads, I'm not looking forward to going out in this. The plow came through once this morning (around 8:00 or 8:30) and haven't seen one since, even on the main road (can see that from the upstairs bedroom). I went out to do the drive and the road was already covered with a couple more inches.

We get a 1099 for our cash compensation. Internally its called allowance. We then claim SE form with our non cash compensation, housing with utilities, offical car. I guess I am afraid the tax programs won't do it correctly and I will end up owing after the fact.

Yeah, we're only in for $25-$30 for the class. The deductible on the truck is $500 for collision. May just stay home. Plus, the money goes to the Zoological Society, so it's a good cause. We support them with other gifts through the year.

There will be an input page for the 1099 info. I'm assuming they treat you like an independent contractor and not an employee (i.e. no W-2).

As for the self-employment (which I'm assuming you do on Sch C or C-EZ), they have the input cells right there. You could just compare it to your manual way of doing it last year. Maybe worth the $30 just to see if it works for you. If it does, it will save you a ton of time in years to come. :thumbsup2

I just checked weather.com, and it looks like tomorrow will mostly be a rain event for us. These are times when you love that warm (all relative) ocean.

Lina had a book when she was little called, "Safety First" everytime I think of going out in bad weather, I think of that book, "Safety First." ;)

I was just watching the Weather Channel and it looks like a low is developing in the mid-Atlantic states and heading your way. I think Maine will get snow again.

Aren't you guys due for a Noreaster soon? Have you had any yet this season?

Oh, I'll be driving about 20-25 in the 55 zone near the house. Even with the AWD it will be tricky out there today.

Hey, an FO with other people on, who would have thunk it?

Looks like I need to re-check the weather forecast, although we are about 50 miles inland from the ocean.

I did some yesterday. If I get chance, I'm gonna do some more today.

You should post some of your work, I would love to see it! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Well, it's 7:30 and all the boys are up. Don't they sleep in when they stay up late? :confused3 I know I will be tired later. We survived the night though with no issues. :thumbsup2

Kids don't sleep in, do they? :lmao: At least my kid doesn't :rolleyes1 She can go to bed at 11pm and still be up by 7:30 :sad2:

I have the weekend off so no need to get up early, but apparently, dogs don't sleep in either  :rotfl2:

Loved all the pics...sunsets :lovestruc ....food

sigh, 35 more weeks :guilty:

That's what I was thinking on the last page.........:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I may look into it.

We pay quartely taxes so we just have to adjust for our estimated taxes, and work it out on the 1040 form. My adjustment is due on Monday. Basically, this time last year, we estimate our earnings and fringe benefits. Now we plug in the actuals to determine our actual tax.

The system is what the Army worked out with the feds. It seems to work and doing my taxes is no big deal. I just use last years forms as a guide with the current year information. The only snag is when we move. The way we are compensated really makes it confusing when you are talking partial year residency status! I miscalculated and had to pay both states about $80 last time around.

Oh, and to top it off, I wanted to pull the shade last night in that room to make it dark for morning, but Suz said not to. I think I could have gotten another 30 to 60 minutes for sure.

Our DS was actually sleeping the other 3 were up. So I made them wake DS. It will be an early night tonight for him (and me).

I think our first snow of the season the Friday before Christmas was a classic Nor'easter. I think we got around 10 inches from that. It killed my kettles for Friday and Saturday! Usually the Saturday before Christmas is one of if not the best day. Not this past year!

Hey Andy, I was just looking at the dining page again....had a question for you....You are on late dining???? Aren't you normally in bed by 9-10pm??? Thought you would have been on early dining. :confused3
