We recorded the parade and watched it last night. I was frustrated with how much the cameras jumped around - they didn't stay on anything long enough to get a good look. The Lion King was featured. We fast forwarded through most of the acts. Does anyone know if they only do that parade once or does it happen throughout the season?
Dan, I have to agree with you - the camera work left a lot ot be desired. Mary could probably tell you better than I, but I believe they used to invite DVCers to the parade filming on a priority basis. I know we got a notice about it last year. This year apparently they were trying to have more people in the park that were just general guests. I am not sure, but I think it was filmed December 6 this year. I read somewhere that it is truly a filming process and guests may see the same thing many times over as they strive to get it right. Based on what we saw, Mack and I do not think the park is fully decorated when they film - at least we are positive some things are not up. There are swags going across Main Street from the Emporium down to the corner where the soda shop is - these were not in the taped parade, but when we saw the huge nutcracker, we knew why. Also it appeared the singing acts were taped at a time different from Regis and Kelly's work because they appeared to be located in the same place. There is a huge Christmas tree in the main circle in front of the railroad station - we don't think this tree could have been there based on the sets they had for the musical acts and maybe not even for Regis and Kelly. I would love to be there for the taping one year just to see the process. To my knowledge, they only do this special filming parade on that one day - I say that because of all the things which were too tall to make it under the swags. Anyway, maybe Mary will chime in if she checks over here.
