That's because there just isn't a whole heck of a lot to see in those states, Heather. :lmao:

No offense to anyone living there, but sheesh .... a whole lotta open space in the upper plains / mountain states. A whole lotta space indeed. ;)

Hey Brenda - How were the drunken fishies on Halloween?

Elaine and I were just looking at pictures of all of the DVC properties except for BLT, and we think we would lean towards AKV. She really wants to be able to do a Savannah view 1BR regularly. I tend to like the theming of the rooms a little more as well.

She is getting more into this. I am shocked!

Not bad; thanks for asking!

I'm 2/3 of the way through with my review that's going to be posted on my blog ... I'll let you know when it's ready if you'd like to read it. :goodvibes

The news on Dad is that he is a lot better and can't wait to have his first cup of coffee. He's been NIL by Mouth for a couple of days now.

He hopes to be out of hospital soon (it's been another 8 weeks), though I doubt it will be Thusday as originally arranged. We wait and see.

:wizard: :wizard: For your Dad pixiedust: pixiedust:

Lori,
How long does your bus trip to NYC take from VA?
From my home it's 4 hours.

Last time we went with my son and Bob and his daughter we loved doing the horse drawn carriage ride around town.... Macy's, Rockefeller Center area...
I think we only did 1/2 hour ride because we were budgeting.... but it was very cool!

The bus is leaving at 4 am and arriving at Macy's at 10. We have to leave at 7:30 pm

As beautiful as the AKV villa looks online, you've got to see it in person! They have a model at the Member Center in SSR. The bathroom is amazing! Another nice thing about the 1 bedroom at AKV is that the there is a full bathroom on the living room/kitchen side - I think AKV & BLT are the only DVC resorts that have this feature because they are the newest.

Macy's is fabulous at Christmas! After you spend some time there you definitely want to head over to the Rockefeller Center/5th Ave. area. The famous store windows are along 5th Ave. (the actually have it roped off for you to wait on line). You also want to see the tree from the 5th Ave. side - they have these fabulous angels between 5th Ave and the GE building. Also, St. Patrick's is definitely work a look.

OK, we took Jen Mouse's chicken crock pot recipe(sp) and tweaked it a little bit. We added a package of Knorr's Cheddar Broccoli Rice Side dish, let me tell you, this was one "scrumpdillyumptious" dinner. Even Lina enjoyed it!!! We will be making this again!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Okay - give the whole thing for those of us who failed to copy it down the first time please. Thanks!

My son would humbly argue this with you - that a whole lotta open space is indeed beautiful. Of course, his college campus is in downtown Atlanta, GA. He is an avid hiker and ultra runner. Here are a few pictures from his most recent trip to Montana.

See, she is going to love it!!! You all will! The flexibility it affords is wonderful!

I knew one of AKV's newest owners would fill you in here! ;)

Like I said, we tweaked what Jen had posted. This is what we used: 6 boneless chicken thighs, 1 package of Italian Salad Dressing mix, 1 can of low fat chicken broth. We cooked those items in a crock pot for several hours on low heat. We then added the package of Knorr's cheddar broccoli rice, let it cook on low for 30 minutes, then on high for another 30 minutes.

I could not believe how good it tasted. At first Hazel was going to make the rice in the microwave. I said "Let's add it in the crock pot and see what happens." I'm so glad we did that!!! :goodvibes

My pampered chef party is now over. It lasted over 4 hours. The girls played and played. They loved cooking the cookies and making them into ice cream sandwiches. Us moms had fun too.:thumbsup2

Tiki--those pics are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I never said that the open space wasn't beautiful - I agree that it is, but that's exactly why a tv show can blow through six states in one hour. I'm surprised they don't just do a fly over.

Anyhoo ... if anyone would like to read about our sushi night on Friday, I just posted the review on our blog. The link's in my signature - the only post for the month of November (so far).

Thanks!

Scott is now watching a scary movie and just asked if I was going to watch it with him and I said no. I will sit here and Dis while he watches it.
