Driving down won't be cheap. Right now without any discounts, the car will be about $200 (we'd rent so that if anything happened, we'd call the closest rental agency and swap cars). At 25 mpg, it would be about 100 gallons of gas. Figure $3.00 min per gallon and we have an additional $300. That is $500 to start. Add in hotels down there and food, and I'm getting close to a trip down during the quiet time, including airfare. Plus, I don't plan on going to the parks around Xmas, but could at another time.

However, Suz is really pushing the idea. Maybe we'll just look into Pricelining 3 flights into MCO instead for around $200 each as we get closer. If it takes, then we go.

Unfortunately, because we're 5 of us, driving is still cheaper...and my car gets no where near 25 miles per gallon.:sad1: poor me:rotfl: :rotfl:

My back is killing me this morning. Not sure what I did over the weekend, but I really pulled something. Even laying down (i.e. sleeping) isn't helping.

Ouch!:headache: - sounds painful - hope you feel better soon:hug:

I see Target still has it online for $119.

Have either of you used the zoom to take a picture? I was reading the comments and that was one of the negative comments I saw - that the zoom was blurry.

Most of the beach photos of Ellis in Greece this July I took using the zoom. It worked fine for us. For the price I think its a good camera.

Just had the postman deliver our cards:hug: - thank you Jeff and Suz:hug:

Before I go watch my shows...thought I would post a little video :goodvibes

Kira's two new things are saying her name (Kia! :lmao: ) and "Oh sorry" which is soooo cute! She says it all the time even when someone ELSE is supposed to say it

We were getting groceries last week and this guy bumped into us trying to reach for the newspaper...Kira yells out loud "SORRY!!!" :lmao: :rotfl2:

So I was able to video tape it tonight, not the best video as she was a little spun after having some pudding after supper :rolleyes1

You need windows media to play it...sorry mac users :snooty:

So cute!! :cutie: I love that Goofy just lays there like he couldn't be bothered. :rotfl:

We will be at SSR. Melody, EB, Amelia, and Ernie will be there too.
Shelley - Did you request a certain section at SSR? Our first choice is The Springs, second choice Grandstand -- not that any request of mine has ever been granted at this resort!!! Have you ever stayed at SSR before?

You guys will have to let me know what you think of it. We're scheduled to be there next summer--June.:goodvibes

Hey Paige ... Jay and I have stayed at SSR twice now and we really like it. It's very spread out; lots of green space and trees and walking paths. It's also usually very quiet, which we also like, and if you're lucky the local duck welcoming committee will pay you a visit and nibble on your toes.

The drawbacks as far we're concerned are the lack of dining options at the resort (just two, neither of which are very good, IMHO, although they'll do in a pinch) and the need to take Disney transportation everywhere but Downtown Disney.

We're staying there next month, so I'll be happy to give you another opinion when we get home.

We've been spoiled by staying at the Beach Club ... all those dining options just a short stroll from the hotel, walking to Epcot and MGM, taking the monorail from Epcot to the MK ... the only time we use Disney transportation when we stay at the Beach Club is if we're headed to the AK or an early breakfast somewhere.

There won't be much need for us to go to DTD any longer since they're turning it into hyperglobalmegashoppingmart.

This is our home resort and we usually end up here 2 out of the 4 trips we take yearly. I really love the resort itself. Lots of pathways to run on and it is so beautiful in the mornings. We usually stay in the Paddocks. Used to be the first bus stop. Now it's the second which is ok by me. We have requested the Grandstand section this time but like you said, we have never been granted our request!

I have to say though that the bus service kinda sucks here. I think it comes down to the fact that the resort is so big and you have so many people for so few buses. According to a friend of mine who works for transportation the buses hit the property in intervals of 20-30 min. But if you are at the last stop (The Springs) the bus could take upwards of 40 min to reach you and could be full by the time it gets there. This has been an ongoing complaint by many guests but with Disney cutting back due to fuel costs and such I don't see it getting better any time soon.

This is the same problem we observed at OKW in July. We took the bus one time. After having to wait so long, we deicided it wasn't worth the headache, and just drove ourselves.....

We've had ressies at SSR twice, but changed them at 7 months since that is our home resort. We feel like we will get there eventually. I think June will work out though because I am confused about my points, with borrowing and all, I think I have to use them there...:confused3

Yep! We do the same thing at SSR unless we know we are going to be drinking. Esp. at Epcot!

....and Bendy, I am sad about the changes to DTD, too. I guess Disney had to get rid of all that excessive adult fun to put in the much needed shopping district. (my attempt at sarcasm)...

If I wanted to shop while at Disney, I would go to one of the 8000 malls/shopping centers out in Orlando.

yeah, the transportation issue at SSR isn't great. Sometimes we've been known to walk over to DTD and catch a bus there, depending on where we're going or how quickly we need to get there.

But to be fair, the transportation isn't always great at BCV either ... you usually share a bus with guests from the Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club, and Boardwalk. Disney changes it up sometimes depending on volume but we've seen the buses show at BCV full to capacity at certain times.

It's never perfect ... ;)

Good idea! For us, when we're at WDW, we have a couple of drinks by the pool or maybe one with dinner, because we know we always have an early morning of rides because of our kids....

But we do plan on going to Epcot one day before the BoB cruise, and we'll have no kids, so we'll definitely be taking the bus. We still haven't decided, but I think we may stay at SoG, or POP to save on the points, since it is Friday night. I would like to stay at the port, but if we are drinking, I don't want to drive there Friday night.

you want to tour the world showcase with Bendy and Guy Incognito, right? ;)

OK ... I gotta get to work. And since I'm blocked entirely now you guys have a good day! :goodvibes

I know Bendy and Jay are staying in Orando. We are thinking about flying down a day or two early to enjoy some F&W time but are still up in the air about heading to the prt on Friday or not.

...so true. But I have to say, we have had good bus service at POR both times that we stayed there. But, I got a rash on my legs both times, too. I'm either allergic to their detergent or they have bed bugs. It itched so much!

We could all tour the WS together ... it would be a hoot! :thumbsup2

OK ... I'm really gone now.

Yes, our first priority is F&W, but we can only get there as early as Friday. So I don't know....I really don't want to be the designated driver. Maybe I could tell Rob some outrageous lie to get him to be the DD. "Babe, it's Sober Marine Day at Epcot, sorry.":rotfl:
