What about Seattle for a home port for Alaska cruises?

Sailing time, in terms of days, would be the same. All the cruise guides that I have read claim that the facilities at Vancouver are far superior to Seattle. I suppose port charges would enter into their decision too.

My personal opinion is that the first permanent west coast port will be Los Angeles. They would probably build their own terminal just like Port Canaveral. I worked for the City of Long Beach back in the early 90s when Disney was considering building DisneySea in the vicinity of the Queen Mary (which Disney leased at the time). The City drove a hard bargain and didn't offer many concessions or incentives, figuring that Disney was set on building in Long Beach since DL was so close. The concept included a theme park and eventually a cruise terminal.

:sad2: Well, we all know what happened... DisneySea was built in Japan. The Queen Mary was returned to the City of Long Beach at the end of their lease. All of the development, jobs, and additional revenue to the City and businesses never happened.

Very interesting stuff...thanks for sharing. I agree on Los Angeles becoming the West Coast full time port for either the Magic or Wonder. The next few years will be very interesting for DCL.

It's a quiet night on the thread tonight... :listen: :bored:

I'll sign off with our "First Day of School" Pic.

Megan (5th) and Sarah (3rd) went back to school today.

We also had the first soccer practice. Time to get back onto our "schedule" for the school year. :teacher:

Not been on since getting back from Virginia. WORD OF WARNING:
DO NOT GO TO LORI'S HOUSE AS YOU WILL NEVER WANT TO COME HOME.:rotfl:
Karen - thanks for info on the flights, sean has priced them up and got the same quote as you. We cant book them yet as we dont know the dates for the october holiday yet and olivia is starting high school tomorrow(OMG) and we need to get permission to take her out of school. So hopefully by next week we can book, but i am now panicking that the fares will go up. Priced up to go in Premium Economy but too expensive this time.
The villa looks fab, think you should book it, we stayed in one similar last october but it belonged to my friend so we didnt pay.:thumbsup2
Hope everyone is safe and well.
Need to start posting again.
Paige - it was so nice to meet up with y'all. The kids had an awesome time and just picked up from last year, shame they arent coming next year. I absolutely loved virginia, you are so lucky to life there. Going to come and live there soon, buying a house across from Lori!!
Tanya - lovely to meet all your family, it was a lovely weekend and everyone was so friendly and nice. olivia had a great time with alex and claire. Remington was so cute. Looking forward to seeing you all on the cruise.
And where is my mate Lori? what can i say about her, she is a super host and a fab cook, as well as having the nicest family ever.

I'm crying again!!!!:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: Hurry and buy that house!!!!:yay:

I was just reading about the upcoming changes to the Magic for dry dock...they all sound great!!! :thumbsup2

Indulgence and Relaxation
Quiet Cove, the serene pool retreat reserved for the enjoyment of adults, will undergo a makeover including upgrades to Cove Café, the pool and the deck area. Cove Café, the ship’s sophisticated coffee lounge, will incorporate a new seating area with plush, comfortable chairs providing the perfect venue to relax while sipping a cup of gourmet coffee. Meanwhile, the adult pool will be outfitted with soothing, cascading waterfalls from the two hot tubs. Teak deck and lounge chairs with plush cushions will line the pool, creating an inviting, stylish ambiance in line with the Vista Spa and Salon.

Fun for the Little Ones
The Oceaneer Club, a Neverland-themed play space for 3-7 year olds, and the Oceaneer Lab, a whacky and interactive laboratory exclusively for 8-12 year olds, will be enhanced with new registration areas that make the check-in process more efficient and hassle-free. This sets the stage for incorporating Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in the youth activity areas later this year, which will further enhance and streamline the check-in process. The technology uses RFID tags embedded on wristbands, allowing children to simply tap a sensor to check in and out of the clubs.
Even the youngest cruisers will have a splashtacular time in “Mickey’s Splash Zone,” a new toddler water playground inspired by Fantasia’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice. This 385-square-foot extension to the Mickey Pool on deck 9 will feature star- and moon-shaped interactive fountains, a soft play surface and whimsical splash zones; creating an inviting environment for children not yet toilet trained and in swim diapers.

New Conveniences
The guest staterooms onboard the Disney Magic are receiving an infusion of technology with the installation of flat-screen LCD television sets. The new 22-inch units will be mounted on a swivel arm to allow easy viewing from multiple locations within the stateroom.

I'm going down to see my second home while in dry dock. I'll take pics and post them when I do. :thumbsup2 Scott's grew up in Norfolk and his parents live just outside of there now.

Welcome back BOBers.

Paige and Walt, glad all seems well so far!

Sean and Cath, loved meeting you guys, too! Next time you will also need to visit WEST Virginia.:goodvibes

A beautiful day was had on Castaway Cay today. Only had a brief two minute shower while we were swimming, other than that, for our first time to Serenity Bay, it was fabulous, we will be back there for sure (hopefully on Friday)!!!

Not only our first time visiting Serenity Bay, but this was the first time in six Disney cruises, that we had a Konk Kooler!!!

We are still hoping to be able to dock again Friday at Castaway Cay, but it will depend on the weather and what Hanna decides to do. We were told at dinner tonight that we will indeed be docking at Nassau around 8am on Wednesday morning, and will be having Pirate Night on Wednesday night.

Hazel and I have received many “Fish Extender” gifts the past couple of days, and we would like to thank our fellow DIS’er cruisers for the gifts!!! Hazel and I also received an “early” wedding anniversary from Becky (CA) and Heather (UK), it was a lovely Donald “Ducky” Williams signed lithograph. Thank you both very much, we were deeply touched with the gift!!!

This note is for Mike (aka: Dawg), I had dinner with a certain red head Mike, and guess what I found out, she also likes men with sunburned faces. I will try to post a photo of the red head and I. If not now, I will add it in after I get home and edit my blog. LOL!!!

For Cass: My dessert tonight was the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, I was thinking of you with every bite I took, LOL!!!

Dinner with Becky and Shellie has been so much fun. Tonight we were in Animator’s Palate for the light show.

It’s nearly midnight and I’m really starting to drag, had a short nap after we got back from the island today. We have instructions from our daughter that we have to try and find her a specific t-shirt tomorrow while we are docked at Nassau. Our “All Onboard” call is for tomorrow at 4pm.

That’s it for now, we update as time allows.

No time to read back on the thread, will do that when I get back...........;)

Karen, I was going to "Boo" you (or is that Booyah?? :rotfl2: ) so you'd only have 1 fake but I deleted my Boo pms yesterday.

Here, how about this?

BOO!!!!

I'll take it:banana:

I just looked. I can't believe I have almost 50 posts on this thread.

Hey Karen, if you post fast enough and get this thread closed by Saturday, you could beat Andy for the top poster. :thumbsup2
