Nice piccie - does anyone know if those windows by the barrel looking things are our free ones? They sure look similar but I've only seen the view from the inside

Karen, that first portwhole(free window), you are talking about that sits back from the others, that's cabin 5520, which is my cabin!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Tropical Weather Update

As of Friday, August 29, 2008

The safety of our guests and crew is always our first priority at Disney Cruise Line and we continually monitor a storm's progress through the National Weather Service.

At this time, we do not anticipate any changes in the August 31st voyage of the Disney Wonder or the September 1st voyage of the Disney Magic.

Should weather conditions change, our Captain can alter the ship's course or itinerary for the safety and well being of our guests.

I'm dragging a bit this morning, should have already been at Riverewinds by now, but I woke up with a :headache: and just didn't feel up to going, My Bad......

Stay safe Paige. We're not gettin any news over here about your weather so if theres anyone else in risk - stay safe too:grouphug:

Lovely piccies Paige - you have georgous kids. I'll show Ellis Alex's piccie so he can look out for him in the kids club:goodvibes

We are not in any danger here in Virginia. My folks live on the southern coast (the Gulf coast) of the United States in Louisiana. They'll be fine, because if they are ordered to evacuated, they will leave. And if their houses are flooded, they all have insurance, so it'll be a headache, but they'll be fine.

Ellis will be wasting his time looking for Alex--Rob and I are going alone this time! We never really had a proper honeymoon, so I guess this is it.:goodvibes

Good morning everyone...

It's 5:40 am, so I slept in a little better.....too bad I was up until past midnight!

My mom fell while riding her bike with a friend yesterday and fractured her foot in 2 places. She had to have surgery on it last night, and she is fine, but now I'm trying to figure out how things are going to work out when she comes home. Her condo is an upstairs unit, so she'll probably need to come stay with me for a while first (we have a ranch house). I'm sure there will be doctor's appointments and such she'll need to go to, and I work full time. I could use some pixie dust - here's hoping my boss will be understanding through all of this!

On the plus side, Pete came home yesterday! He got home early and we picked Thomas up from daycare together. Thomas was pretty happy to see his daddy!

I hope you have a Magical cruise Andy!!!!:wizard:

Well it is now official. I just sent our deposit to DU and received our cabin assignment. When I told Jay and Sam, they asked what "floor" we're on then argued as to who should get the top bunk! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We are now officially on the ship!

We knew we were going to make reservation eventually, but DU has a good deal going now so we were able to book earlier than expected. I checked my calendar for work earlier this month just to make sure the dates looked okay. We were initially going to do the 10/10, but the 10/24 works better for my schedule and my family's schedule.

I am pleased with our cabin location as well.

Yeay!!!!! Congrats on the official booking!

Besides, once you started chatting with us, how could you NOT want to cruise with us? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: to all those needing it today and in the days to come!!!

Getting ready to go into work for a little bit. I still have stuff to get together before we leave tomorrow morning, so not sure how much I will be online today, this is what I get for putting things off........:rolleyes1

   for you and your mom, Jen.

Thanks, Bendy Girl. My sister her DH and 2 kids, my brother, his DW and 2 kids and my parents are driving to Austin on Sunday and have ressies until Wednesday. The last time they evacuated (Hurricane Rita=Sept 05), they came home to this.

My mom is really nervous, but I'm sure the stops that my dad will make every hour for "scratches" will make her feel better.:rotfl: I'll keep y'all posted.....

true dat. See, Di is not the only one who knows all the kids lingo.:rotfl:

OMG that is awful, were they in a boat? We came back from Ivan to see part of the roof off trees down and part of the fence gone. How long did it take them to get back in the house.?

Your school pictures are great too, still can't believe how pretty tha bade housing is.

Wish your parents luck- if they need to run east just let them know there are friends in this direction.

Jen- good luck with your Mom. I hope your boss understands.

Thanks for the well wishes all for our cruise. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I was answering your last post Mike when Lina dropped a bomb on us. Lina said she had a change of heart and doesn't want to do the Massage Therapy School. All this after we just finished getting the financing taken care of.

Kids!!! :headache: :headache: :headache: :headache: :headache:

So now what? Hasn't college already started? Is she working at all?

Worry about it when you come back, it will wait. Have a nice trip and we hope Hanna stays away.

Yes, that picture was taken from a boat. The street had never flooded before. My grandmother had a moblie home in my parents' backyard which was high enough to stay dry. One more inch and she would have been flooded, too. They stayed with her, which was a blessing of multitudes because she was suffering with pancreatic cancer, so my mom was able to take care of her in her last days. They continued to live in her trailer after she passed away until the house was ready--I think about 5 months. They gave the trailer away as soon as they were in their house.

People often ask, "Why don't they just move?" That is easier said than done. Our town had never flooded before, at least not in my parents' neighborhood. It is hard to give up your home. And I guess as long as they have flood insurance, it's all good.

And yes, base housing here is nice. Nothing like the previous 3 times that we lived here. It is a nice "last house" for us before retirement....less than 3 years now.
