Our trip report for October 24-27, 2007.

Cast of characters, me (the mommy), my hubby (the daddy), and our 3 ½ year old princess fanatic!

Day 1--Wednesday

We got up at 3:30 am on Wednesday in order to shower and drive the 45 minute drive to PDX. I had pre-bought and hid in our suitcase a Belle costume and a Jasmine costume, 3 princess tees and a princess rash guard (long sleeves and pants) swimsuit (for my very fair child.) Tinkerbelle would be paying us multiple visits with presents for our princess.

We carried on all of our bags (lots of planning in the toiletry department with the new quart size bags—1 each—rule.) So with pre-printed boarding passes in hand, we arrived at PDX at 5 am, and went to breakfast and then sauntered over to our gate. The airport was not too busy and we were taking it pretty easy.

Surprised Princess with new Disney themed toys on the plane (a Lil’ Einstein Magnadoodle, Princess stamp set, Pooh and Tink color wonder books…) also had a few snacks at the ready… the flight (1 hour and 50 minutes) was a piece of cake.)

Landed in LAX, went straight out and met our driver just outside of security, he said he’d have us at DLH in 35 minutes. It was now 9:20 AM. Cruise control on 70 the whole way, we were dropped off at 9:45 AM. Check-in was a breeze. I had pre-requested a 1st time button, a princess photo (we got 2 of each for some reason) and early check-in so we could get a nap. We were given our room key and were in our room by 10 AM (Dreams tower, 6th floor, overlooking the pool, king bed—everything we wanted.)

Quick clean up and we headed for the park. This is my only complaint…. Boy it was a long walk!! 20 minutes to get through DTD, through the gates (which had no lines), through main street and to Dumbo. Rode Dumbo first, then the carousel, just to say we got some rides under our belt before lunch. Had lunch at Carnation Café (which was not what we had planned) but it looked good and had no line at 11 am.) Then took the LONG walk back to DLH for a nap. Got back at 12:30, slept until 2:30, and then Tinkerbelle surprised my Princess with a Belle gown! Got all dressed up and headed for DCA and Ariel’s Grotto for dinner at 4:20… took our time getting there, got coffee at Compass Books first… and made it 10 minutes early for our PS.
Dinner was so fun… 5 princesses (Ariel, Cinderella, Aurora, Snow, and Belle), took lots of time with our princess, calling her Belle etc… and Belle was especially sweet, said DD could borrow her dress anytime! DH said it was the most expensive fish and chips he’d ever had but it was worth it to him!

After dinner we headed over to DL (still dressed as Belle of course) and did teacups and Casey Jr. (storybook boats were closed), and then went and found a place to watch the parade at 6:45 PM… the parade was a blast, tried to get pics but most didn’t turn out. As soon as the parade was over we raced to Peter Pan and got in line before a ton of others did, and then when that ride was over we headed back out as it was 8 pm, and the park was closing.

Channel 44 in the rooms had old Mickey cartoons and Princess bedtime stories between 8-10 pm… so we got ready for bed and watched a story and crashed. Oh, we had a Vons delivery that night between 6-8 pm (snack size pretzels, pre-washed/sliced apples and grapes, carrot sticks, cheese slices, bottled water, beer, etc.) The delivery went fine, the bell captain accepted it in our absence and we called when we got back and they brought it up. As well as someone else’s Gatorade, salsa, instant oatmeal, Aveeno lotion, and bag of onions! Vons apologized for the mistake, told us to keep the stuff, and said they would fix it with the other person. Loved the Gatorade and lotion… but housekeeping got the rest.

Day 2 up next....
