Cool picture and story I found on Cruisenewsdaily.com. Check it out...

You can't try this at home or anywhere else, for that matter, not even on Eurodam - unless you are the captain's wife.
The Eurodam News Blog has evolved to be the best cruise line blog we've found on the internet. Recently, after only 15 months, it posted its one millionth page view. Daily, it takes readers behind the scenes of Holland America's Eurodam to show them interesting things about the ship and what's happening aboard.

Sometimes, it's unusual happenings such as this event shown above, which was recently featured on the blog. Pam Kern, one of the blog's contributors, has been talking of "surfing the bulb" since she came aboard while the ship was still under construction at the Fincantieri yard in Italy. This is something that is not usually done - actually it's not ever done - but since she's married to the captain, extensive safety procedures were worked out, and she got her wish to "hang ten" from the ship's bulbous bow. (So unless you're married to the captain, don't even think about following in Pam's wet footsteps.)

As an example of the interesting information daily contained in the blog, when they ran this picture, they took the opportunity to explain that the bulbous bow is a standard feature on most large cruise ships. They went on to explain how it modifies the water flow around the hull to create greater fuel efficiency and the details of how and when it's most efficient. It's just an example of both the unusual things you see on the Eurodam New Blog and the interesting information you can find there.

I'm driving over to help you now Mike!.... sorry but Robin is off with Sully somewhere:confused3

George Bush ran as an outsider in 2000 and you see what a great job he did of reforming Washington in his administration, and he had a majority in both houses for six of those eight years.

No flaming, nor will I respond (the BOB is not the place for it and the fact that I'm in a political minority here on the DIS, although I guess I am now an independent voter since I'm not registered with either party), but will correct the record that the Democrats controlled the Senate after the 2004 election. The House turned over to the Democrats in 2006.

Can't you just yell for hussy down the street to come over and help you? She might be into this form of bondage. :rotfl2:

Yes, I've heard about this Paige, but sadly I heard it won't be showing until February! You'd think they could have sped up production to have it ready before the election.

Guess what I saw was that HBO wasn't showing it till February.....
thought it was brand new....

So it's out on video now?

Yep, it's out! I saw it on DVD. Rent it; it's great!

Jeff--hey did you get the DC info that I sent you?

I have a busy weekend planned. Kristin's Bridal shower is tomorrow afternoon and we have lots of stuff to do today. Karen, you should see my list!! :scared1: Tons of things to do and here I am DISing instead. Kristin has a few surprises tomorrow. Jesse's favorite aunt (Kristin just loves her) is flying in from Nebraska just for the shower. :flower3: And I also have a funny feeling that Jesse's sister is flying in from Arizona as a surprise to all of us.

Have a fab time Nancy...lots of pics please.

Gotta go school doesn't run without me, but I do get to wear my Panama Canal sweatshirt today!

Lucky you..it's freezing over here.

You didn't get one of those purple numbers did you?

Jeff--hey did you get the DC info that I sent you?

Yes, thank you very much.

Still planning the trip, however Air Tran just announced service to Cancun. The credits needed for a FF ticket are the same as a domestic ticket (8), so I'm not sure if we will pay the $75 and switch our vacation.

Unless I can earn a couple more FF tickets (I have 4 one ways right now, need 6), I don't think I'll spend the $200 for each of the 2 extra one-ways I need.

I did find out that the B30 bus runs from BWI to the end of I think the Green Line, so we can easily get from BWI to a hotel on the Metro lines. I think it was less than $6.00 each.

What are your thoughts about taking our luggage on the Metro? We arrive around 11:00 a.m. and even if we take the last flight back, we'd be going back to BWI around 4:00 in the afternoon. Both are on weekdays.

I'm glad to hear that! I have sailed on that 'other' cruise line and we spent 1/2 our time waiting on line for things (mostly the elevator) plus someone was always trying to sell us something extra. They even charge for soda and ice cream.

There's nothing quite like sailing with the Mouse! :yay: Everything else pales in comparison. I get teary everytime I here the ship's horn!

We sail with them in May when we go to Russia. No doubt well spend a lot of time comparing the cruise lines.

Who knew you were so talented. Being able to type with your big toe;) :rotfl:

Turns out she was actually winking at CaptChris!:rotfl:

Trixie - the icon you added in this post is one the 4 of us should go with!!! I love it!!!

RCCL was our first 7-day cruise. We took the kids with us too. We found ourselves comparing it to Carnival as that was the only line we had been on previously. When we sailed Disney last week, we compared it to the other two as well. It was interesting. They all have things we liked and wished the others had, but we do love Disney! Who couldn't love that ship's horn?!?! Who couldn't love having Donald Duck on board?!?!?!!!!! I could go on and on!

Picture time folks and today is Castaway.

Lets start the day..docking
