Since you asked, I will give you my take on last night's debate through the view of an independent female voter who is not registered with either party.

In many ways it was a draw - both candidates did what they needed to do and neither really made any major mistakes.

From my perspective I think Biden won handily. He's more knowledgable and actually answered questions and rebutted Palin's talking points. Palin was obviously rehearsed and didn't seem to know much other than general campaign slogans. She may come across as folksy and appealing to some people, but quite frankly I found her eyeball twitch and sarcastic attempts at humor off-putting. It was almost as if she was saying, "I don't need to answer anything I don't want to and I'll just spout some down-homisms and talking points and act all cute and flirty and people won't notice that I'm not really saying anything substantative."

I give her kudos for being confident and holding her own, but I'm not as interested in style points as I am in policy and I never once heard her say anything about how a McCain / Palin administration would fundamentally differ from Bush / Cheney. The maverick / Washington outsider schtick doesn't hold water ... George Bush ran as an outsider in 2000 and you see what a great job he did of reforming Washington in his administration, and he had a majority in both houses for six of those eight years.

She is not eloquent ... she is not articulate ... she is not coherent ... she is not intellectually curious ... she does not inspire confidence ... she is just as much of a politician as anyone she has been pointing fingers at since showing up on the scene five weeks ago. She's a gimmack designed to draw media attention back to the McCain campaign and nothing more.

From my perspective as an educated woman who's worked her butt off to get through college and to make it in a male-dominated workplace while holding on to my integrity, the choice of her as a VP candidate is insulting. I don't vote with my hormones and none of my friends do either.

So there.

BTW, I know I probably said a little more than I probably should have. I'm not trying to offend anyone but I'm trying to give an honest reply about my perception ... not looking to pick a fight or to say that my opinions are the only ones or the right ones - they're just mine. :goodvibes

Why thank you Miss Bendy.....:rolleyes1

Please remore your rose tinted and tell me who came out on top of last nights debate? I know who'd i like to see come out on top but thats a story for a different BB....:rolleyes1

I get it ... she's more attractive than the rest of us so she gets your virtual vote. :lmao:

I can admit it ... she's far more physically attractive than I am. But I bet you like my sense of humor better. :rotfl2:

Sean or Cath, is Phoebe coming on the cruise with you all or did I dream that? I can't remember. If they won't let Olivia into the teen group I have a feeling Alex won't mind being signed up for the Lab instead so she can be with Olivia. I know she just wants to get to spend as much time as possible with her as possible. Plus she met Megan the other night at the meet and she will also be in the lab. The kids are going to have a great time. Megan is also on the kids boards so tell Olivia.

Hi Lori, no Phoebe is not coming with us next year -just Olivia, she isnt bothered which group she is in as long as Alex is there. You know how Scary Larry and Hairy Gary get when they are together.:rotfl2:

Well, no flames from me. I am still undecided, but I agree about the insulting part. I am college educated, but have been out of the work force for 16 years. I am one of those "soccer moms" they are after, but we are not dumb women who will vote for someone on looks alone. If that were the case, the constitution would have been changed to allow Bill Clinton to not only stay in office, but this country would have made him "King of America.":rotfl: not that he was a horrible president, he just had that looks/charm thing happening...

If she's a whisky drinker I'll be happy to sit down with her and see who's left standing after the bottle is drained. ;)

And regardless of your political affiliations my friends, just be an informed voter and be sure your voice is heard on November 4th! :goodvibes
