Elaine hit a deer with our 3 month old car a few years ago. It happened just before Christmas so we had to wait until after the holidays to get it to the body shop, so looking out into the driveway at the banged up front end was depressing!

The ironic thing is that we got that car because she had an accident a few months prior that totalled our other one, so she was afraid to call the insurance! She kept saying, "its not a real accident, the deer hit me." Just the other day she was telling someone about it and was insisting, "you could see the deer fur all over the car so you knew the deer hit me."

One of my friends had a deer run into her car just yesterday.:scared1: This also happened to another friend a few months ago. There are deer all over this base.

Paige, I'm a little confused on your DVC point issue. I thought you could only borrow the actual amount of points you needed to book a reservation. We've never lost points and we borrow all the time because we have an even split of points between our two home resorts and always have to borrow from one to cover a full stay at the other.

I guess I'm just more dense than usual today. ;)

Had a bad scare this morning. I left the house at 5:50 (pitch black outside) and was on my way to Riverwinds when a deer ran right in front of my car. I split second sooner and I would have hit the poor thing. I think my heart slipped several beats. I guess my ticker must still be in good shape. :thumbsup2

A lady from our church had this happen to her a few years ago, only thing is, she did hit the deer and it came through her car windshield and the impact killed her. She had her 4 boys in the car with her and they didn't even get so much as a scratch on them. Sadly, her oldest son committed suicide last summer, hid dad said he was never the same after his mother died.

Oh so glad you are ok Andy!

I had to borrow for our Christmas trip. I booked at SSR at the 11 month window, then switched to BWV at the 7 month window. The "cost" was less for BWV, so I have a surplus of 20 points, that I thought would be placed back in the UY from which I borrowed. I was mistaken about that so the 20 points have been placed in this UY. So I have to bank them before the end of November, which is what I will do. Now when I get to the 7 month mark of my June 09 trip (I currently have ressies at SSR), I will try to change to AKV which is higher in "cost." So it'll all work out. I may lose 5 points.

Clear as mud, eh?

OK ... I got it; forgot that you switched resorts. That will screw things up every time. ;)

Gotta get to the bank ... have a great day everyone! :goodvibes

Becky, I started reading Kevin's report last night and was shocked! The fact that DCL actually ended their dry dock EARLY and charged these people FULL price to cruise on a ship that is clearly not ready to be sailed on is just poor judgement! While some people aren't bothered by it (non-pool people I imagine) I can't even fathom how mad parents with little kids are right now :scared1: The pools, IMHO, are already inadequate for the type of passenger DCL aims to get onboard, but to not have a single pool open and ready for this sailing is astonishing!!!! :headache:

I wouldn't have a problem had DCL offered a discounted fare for these people and announced in advance that some popular services will not be available, then at least you know to expect it.

After sailing one week after the dry dock ended in 2005 (and listening to some of our BOBers' experiences about being on that ship immediately after the dry dock) I swore I would never sail near (before or after) a dry dock!

Andy, glad you are ok. What a scary moment!! My brother hit a baby moose about 10 years ago and TOTALLED his car! He made it out with only a few scratches amazingly but the car (Toyota Corolla) was almost unrecognizable! :scared1:

Good thing he didn`t hit the moose`s mommy or daddy! ::yes::

Baby moose was just fine btw :thumbsup2

I'm glad that you were able to work something out to use most of the points. Changing reservations does complicate things sometimes. But, what can you do when life intervenes. :confused3

When Elaine hit the deer, or the deer hit her, if she tells the story, the deer hit the left front fender of the car, then rolled onto the hood. We needed a new fender, bumper, hood, radiator and headlights. Since the impact was on the hood, the airbags didn't deploy so that saved $$$. The car, a Toyota Sienna Minivan weighs about 4500 lbs I think, and the deer caused about $7,000 in damage. She was only going about 30 mph and the deer too was ok.

Yeah, well I nearly pooped a brick this morning, I can tell you that!!! :scared1:

We have a large field (Sunoco Refinery property) behind our development and there are a lot of deer back there.

Time to head back to work, baby it's windy here today, and the rain is on the way. A Nor'easter is approaching, at least it is too warm for sn*w!!!!!

See y'all later..........:wave2:

Just saw Virginia Beach in The Weather Channel, all I can say is WOW!!!

We were one of the cruisers (with Bendy) who got on immediately after dry dock in 05 and I didn't notice a thing that was wrong. (Then again it was our first cruise...:lmao: ). All I remember is that Deck 8 had carpeting when we got on the ship and halfway through the cruise it was gone. Something about some crazy cruisers from Missouri wanting a souvenier for their rec room floor. :confused3 :goodvibes :confused3

Off to take Kira to her first gymnastics class :goodvibes :thumbsup2

:cutie: :cutie: :cutie:

Well I finally did it! I joined the Gym, and got free unlimited tanning too!

:sad2: Stepping on soap box: See my avatar. Stepping off soap box. :sad2:

(Just watching out for my peeps  )

The biggest thing for your cruise is that the newly expanded gym was not open as expected. It didn`t open until half way through OUR cruise. There were a couple of other things too but right now I can`t remember them
