We were a party of 10 Friends had there 2 dd (ages 10 & 8), we had ds (age 9), dd (age 11) and dh, and we had another friend who was there with her dd (age 8).
Let me start by thanking everyone for all the good information they shared with us. It was very useful.
We left the BC around 11am to miss the Disney transportion people coming on board. Check in was a breeze. Drove up to the terminal -especially like the way they had you make a left turn into the terminal, they had a man stationed there, and when people would try to go up the road a bit and flip a U turn and turn right into the terminal, he would make them go back where they started and get back in line - bet his wife was yelling at him. Anyway, drop off went fast, since we had the key to the world cars already, we just waited for the DH to park the car and meet us in the lobby. Then we walked on board - no waiting - this was around 12:30.
Lunch was a buffet and was fine. I am not a big buffet person, but my son was in heaven when they found out the he could get nuggets from the snack bar.
We check out the ship a bit, and then it was off to the lifeboat drill. Why is it that there is always afew in the crowd who think the rules don't apply to them. There standing there holding there life vest in line, Do they think they are the only one's who would look funny in this thing, or the only ones who are uncomfortable? Oh well. After the drill (which was done very expediously), we were off to the sail away party. It had to be moved in doors as it started raining 5 minutes after we sailed. The party was fun, but not really our kids cup of tea, so we set off to explore a bit more and then off to dinner at Parrot Cay. This was my least favorite restaurant. I had the steak and it was just okay. Crab cake appetizer was too breaded, and the deserts were just okay.
We did not watch the Hercules show that night due to a prior commitment (like the world series and Survivor) - yes for those survivor fans they did show this on television.
Nassau day we had made reservations at the Comfort suites to use the Atlantis pools - Thankyou to everyone who provided this tip. By far, this was the best tip we got. Atlantis is an awesome resort. The pools are stunning, but the best thing is the dig and the aquarium. Wish we had more time. I was a bit surprised how clean and nice the people were at the dock. We live in San Diego, and from the descriptions people had left on this board, we were expecting a Tijuana type atmosphere at the dock. We had nothing but pleasant people helping us get where we wanted to go. The roads were clean and the people were gracious.
This night we ate at Tritons - My favorite of all the places. The thing we liked best were the deserts - we probably had 10 deserts for 5 adults.
Don't really like how your servers start talking about there ratings. They make it appear that if the food quality is not excellant, that it is seen as there fault. You feel so bad, that you would not be honest about the food. Our server was Nora and she was great, but I feel that Disney is doing themselves a disservice by getting not so honest feedback from there passengers.
Castaway cay - This is a beautiful island. My suggestion here, when you get off the ship - Keep moving to the furthest point you can. It is quiet and not crowded. We spent about 4 hours out in the sun before coming back and watching Tuck Everlasting in the Theatre.
Dinner this night was at Animators Palate. Loved the cesear salad and lamb. This was another dinner that was excellant.
Disembarking was a breeze also, we had a late flight out of Orlando, so we opted to go to the buffet at 8am and then get off the ship as late as possible. Our luggage was easy to find, and then we check it with American at the cruise terminal. This was sweet.
We took off and went to Coco Beach for a little shoping at Ron Jons. If you ever want great beach wear. This is the place to stop. If your smart, you'll stop before the cruise though. We live in San Diego, and we get to use our summer wear most of the year, but it's more fun to have in the summer.
Thanks again to all of you....
