Anyone have any ideas of where to stay after the cruise for a couple of days to go to WDW? Think we want to stay off site to keep costs down. Someone told me Kissame?? I appreciate any ideas, we have 7 people to plan for-OOOHHHH WOOOWWWW!!

Hi there! Kissimmee does have some nice accomidations. A 2 or 3 bedroom condo may be the way to go since there are 7 of you. It is nice having a kitchen so everyone can have breakfast when they wake up. Washer and Dryer is priceless on vacation! All Ears is always advertising Sheraton Vistana Villages and Lighthouse Key Resort and Spa. Mouse Fan travel (.com) it the travel agency for All Ears. I had a friend stay at Lake Buena Vista Resort Villaga and Spa in a 3 bedroom condo and said it was nice, served its purpose.

Since having our kids, we rarely go to Disney without grandparents (all are Floridians - meet us in WDW). That is why we decided to join Disney Vacation Club.

I hope this helps.
Sandy

Hey Sandy,

I have a case of the 'wonky brain' --- every waking moment. We prob will dock much earlier than 0700. There is a (might be a) short delay as the ship clears immigration. The exit doors usually open at/before 0830. Am sure the earliest we can; get through the line, collect luggage and clear Immigration would be around 0900. Travel to airport is around an hour. So...if all works well...you can be at the airport just before/after 1000.

Has anyone had different experiences?

Thanks Kevin! This helps a lot. I am booking our flights now. :thumbsup2

Congrats on your daughters success!! I know you must be one proud Papa!

Angela, have you used this site? I am in desperate need to lose weight but just can't seem to get motivated. You would think going on a beautiful Caribbean Cruise would incentive enough, but NOooooo:confused3:rotfl::lmao::goodvibes!!! Maybe having a buddy in the same "boat";), would help. Let me know.

I love it and it you can add me as a friend abielanin! It is a great motivation tool and with us under 6 months until the cruise the time is starting to fly by.:goodvibes

Kissimmee is a great place to stay. It's a very short drive to 'the world'. There are numerous fast and table service restaurants. I've stayed in Kissimmee four or five times....wouldn't hesitate doing so again...and again.

The two main things that surround WDW, Sea World and Universal Studio properties are; time shares and outlet malls. I'd suggest looking into some of the larger time share properties - Vistana and/or Westgate to name a couple. We've found them a great value and wonderful to have most of the conveniences 'of home' (washer/dryer, microwave/stove). Plus...to me...they appear to be quieter (your mileage may vary).

I don’t know the mix of adult/children or your room requirements. But, you can prob 'get-away' with a two bedroom only time share. If you want a little more room, you can add a loft or lockout (one bedroom that has a separate entry and the approx. size of a studio apartment). You'd have loads of room.

We did a two bedroom only with my In-laws - ~1100 square feet. Think nice sized condo. They took the smaller bedroom (two full beds) and we had the master (king with walk in shower and a huge whirlpool tub). Our two older girls shared the pull out couch (queen) and we made a mattress for our youngest (just turned three) with the cushions from the couch and spare sheets we requested from housekeeping. After a long day touring the parks...everybody came back...exhausted. Sleep came fast and some even nodded off on the drive to the time share. We had plenty of room without it feeling crowded.

You list 'a couple of days'. Am unsure the total number of nights you need. If you go this route, check pricing on a full week as it's sometimes cheaper than 4 or 5 nights - even if you don't stay the full seven.

Also...check with family, friends or work associates. A lot of people have time share day/week(s) banked with a broker. A few days or full week reservation can be transferred with a small fee.

Another great convenience is ordering your groceries on-line (net grocer cot com). You can plan meals and have your exact shopping list delivered to your door step with a small delivery fee - great time saver. I can be 'in-n-out' of our local grocery store very quickly - put me in a new city/store...this time doubles or triples. The small up-charge is sooooo worth it.

Hope this helps.....k

SUCH A GREAT IDEA. Thanks to those who have volunteered info to help us start planning this trip of a lifetime!!! I'm a little nervous about this! We plan to stay for 2 days, then get the kids back to California to school and me to work to pay for the trip:surfweb:

I re read this...and feel I should add something. DCL does recommend that you make your return flights no earlier than 1230p.

We booked a 1215p flight...and I'll prob be at the doors waiting for them to open - sad to leave and nervous about making our flight. I would have chosen a later one but this was the only direct flight without leaving late evening. Instead of renting a car (what we normally do)...we'll prob use DCL transportation or one of the town car services. Does any one have a recommendation on a town car company?

Ok, so I need somebody to convince me that I am crazy trying to fit in the halloween party on the 22nd (of course that is if it is even offered). we arrive at 655pm at airport. So is this just the craziest idea? Thanks for any input.

The MNSSHP tix are $50+ per person and is from 7pm to midnight. It will take you at least an hour to get to your hotel (assuming you have to wait for Magic Express plus the stops at each hotel - hopefully yours is first), check-in, then get to MK. You will miss half the party.:sad1: It is rumored that MNSSHP tix go on sale tomorrow, 4/29. We will see if that is true. I personally would not try to squeeze the party in because of your arrival time. After the cruise?

Thanks Kevin! I knew noon would be pushing our luck, possibly even 1pm. I just wasn't sure what time the buses started heading back to MCO. A towncar is a good idea. I think we are going to stick to the DCL bus so we don't have to juggle the girls, car seats and luggage.

Got our passports done at USPS yesterday! :woohoo:

Ok everybody we are now finally all set. Flight is booked, hotel before the cruise is booked and lastly we have our adr's for Ohana on the 22nd booked. Now all I have to do just wait until August when I can start booking activates on board the Magic.

This waiting is going to be agonizing. popcorn::

Hope everybody else is ok!!

Hi Everybody. I have a question. When it's time for Check-In at the port Terminal, is every guest have to be there? I would like to arrive early with some members of my family to check-in and kids would arrive later at the port... Do you know if it's possible?

At the security, do we need our passeport?

Thank you!

Well, we did it!!! Flights were at a good price last night from California nonstop, so we grabbed 6 seats!!! Rented a van and a hotel for the night! Will work on after trip hotel and car later!!! WOW this is really gonna happen!!! LOVE IT!!!:woohoo:

I've read reports that port will open between 9:30 and 10:00. If you arrive earlier you will be directed to a parking lot directly across from the main gate.

Check in at the port terminal starts between 10 and 10:30.

You should be fine...personally and from reviewing posts on the main boards...all persons traveling do not need to check in - together. Person doing this will need everyones passport (or other documents) and completed cruise documents. For the adults joining you later...they WILL need a form of ID such as a drivers license to enter the port area.

We've done this on our past 4 sailings. I normally return the rental car while Nan checks us in.

Congrats on the success of getting pre-cruise plans booked.

We received news this week that our first night is currently at the Animal Kingdom Lodge - Savanna View. But we are waitlisted and hopeful for the Boardwalk. Nothing against AKL...our last two nights are confirmed at the Boardwalk and I'm hoping we don't have to change hotels.

Hope all have a great weekend...

They now take everyone in your party picture at the check in desk, so now everyone has to accompany the person to check in. If there are people checking in later, that is probably fine but whomever is at the terminal needs to go to check together.

Hello all!

We recently did "Give a Day, Get a Day" at historic Middleton Place here in SC on the day before Easter. We hid a few thousand eggs for kids to find and got our free tickets which we plan to use when we're in Orlando in October.

Well the Disney Bug got the better of us and we made a surprise trip last weekend. MK and epcot were great!. We'd never been to Epcot during the flower and graden festival. Cant wait to be there for 'Food & Wine' festival either before or after the cruise.

BTW, can someone post a link to the kids thread?

Hi everyone! Does anyone happen to know which night of our cruise is the formal night?

Hi Jackie- Glad you joined the conversation!!!! So will you be ready for Sunday? Does anyone know if they have a girls hair do-up on the ship? Something like at Disney 365???

Any suggestions on where to get 2 day WDW park tickets?? Is park hopper needed or worth it??? Thanks for any advise!:dance3:
