Been awhile....... Just checking in to say hi and that this cruise cannot get here soon enough although we will be at the World in May for week.

Awesome!!! Our granddaughter is coming to stay with us for the month of July and we can't wait!

Looking for advise from those who have been on an Eastern before. We like to see the islands, but also like to take in the beaches. What beaches would you recommend on St. Martin and St. Thomas? Are there any excursions that you would recommend as well? Thanks.

we've got a 2 bedroom reserved at AKV.:thumbsup2

we're really excited to see the grandkids enjoying WDW!:grouphug:

Sounds like you will have a fun trip. I remember when we took the girls when they were little. It is so much fun seeing the "magic" in their eyes.

That sounds like it will be a fun and busy month. How old is she? Is she at an age that she'll have you going and going?

She'll be almost 2 by that time. She is blind so as of right now she is standing and will walk with a walking toy but isn't walking on her own. Once her leg muscles are strong enough (almost there) they will be giving her an adaptable cane she can use to walk around the house and not bump into walls with her little head. She's a smart baby and is very advanced due to her grandmother (who has custody) not treating her as if she has a disability and great therapy going. So my job that month is keeping her up to date on her exercises and trying to get her on a schedule since she has no clue when days and nights are.

We've done the Eastern twice...this will be our third but never did the beaches so I can't help you there. However, I do believe Mike will be chiming in here soon with his pick. :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

On our first Eastern we did the Island and Explorer Cruise on St Maarten and just loved it. It was a bus tour first of the Dutch side. Then we got on another boat that took us to the French side where we could shop. They served refreshments on the boat (Rum Punch, juices and soda).

On St Thomas we took a taxi tour of the island (did that twice) and just loved it as well.

I'm not sure if Maho Beach is open anymore, I believe they had to close down because of the hurricanes but if it is and you like loud and exciting, it's the place to go.

We also mostly stick with DCL excursions for the islands because I don't want the ship to leave without me if we should be detained for some reason.

The trip to St John when we got to St Thomas was definately worth missing St Thomas. It was beautiful. As St Maarten you can do the Under 2 flags tour and then do the beach after, catching the water taxi back to the Magic.

We're trying to figure out what we want to do. Is Megan's beach on St John? I think that is the one we want to go to. I know that DCL has an excursion to the one we want to go to. Still not sure about St Maarten, the excursion Nancy described seems like fun. Which island has the tram to the top of the hill?

Magens Bay is a beautiful beach on St. Thomas. There is also an excursion to Trunk Bay, St. John's which is supposed to be great. St. Thomas has the tram to Paradise Point.

In St Martin we did the Golden Eagle Catamaran and snorkle in 2005 and loved it.:thumbsup2
In 2009 we did the St Thomas Paradise Point Tram that takes you up the hill. Its a great veiw. Very tame excursion but i was having some health issues so it was perfect for us.

I know others did the Trunk Bay beach thing and they loved it!

Now rumor has it that theres a "swimtops" optional beach somewhere.(Disney even warns of it in the brochures), but i'm forbidden by my Sweet Polly from going there.:sad1::sad2:

Just for Kathy!!:rolleyes1

Hopefully, they bring you down the hill as well.

Every beach is a 'swimtops' optional for guys. If you mean for the ladies, let me warn you: I have been to a few of these and many of the ladies who choose to go optional shouldn't. Don't expect Bo Derrick to come running down the beach topless. (Think Zsa Zsa Gabor or Roseanne Barr) You're not missing anything.

PARLEY!!

That's it - no postcards from the Wonder-ful West Coast Repo for you! (just you , not Robin)

As far as the trip down Paradise Point..if memory serves me, Robin pushed me down and i rolled most of the way.:sad1::upsidedow
