10-21-12 Dream!!!

You should totally call and see if they'll cut you a deal!! I swear I read that they are applying the Florida rates to previously booked reservations!

I sent an email to our travel agent last night and dh is calling DCL today. It would be a Godsend if they did. That last tropical storm caused a big leak and we have some pretty moderate water damage (and in Florida that means possible mold). We're waiting on the insurance estimate/check but we'll definitely have to cough up the deductible. :(. So, the extra $ would be very, very, very timely!!!!

Our fingers are crossed...

i'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you!!!

and instead of spending it on your damage, you can use it to upgrade at the port to concierge!! :thumbsup2

We got the new price (but not the same room - We had to go to a verandah which believe it or not I didn't want. I have this irrational fear of my kids falling. Weird, I know!). But it saved us quite a bit of $ so now I'm not sweating the house repairs as much!

so when you get to the port, just for curiosity sake, ask them how much an upgrade is to a one bedroom...
it doesn't hurt to ask..... ;)

Don't stress of the verandah. Just make sure they know they are not allowed to go out there whiteout you.

Please do send me your new stateroom number so I can update it on the FE list.

Awesome!!

I know how you feel about the veranda, but it looks like the locks are high up and impossible for kids to reach. You'll be fine!

Have any of you ever used "motion eaze"? I found this stuff before our last cruise and it is FANTASTIC!! The first cruise I ever went on I thought I could make up mind that I would not get seasick and boy was I wrong!!! I went and got a box of dramamine and it said take one or two, so I took two, and I acted drunk all night and couldn't keep my eyes open. After that I found the less drowsy formula and stayed on a steady regimen but it still made me sleepy. The "motion eaze" is a small bottle of all natural oils and you rub it behind your ear lobes. It has no side effects and works like a charm. I used it on our last cruise for me and the kids and we never had a problem. I bought it at Walmart for less than $4. Highly recommend it!

i know the feeling. One year we were upgraded from an inside to a "oceanview" one of the obstructed ones which people love because its a oceanview at the price of an inside and i hated it. i had the curtains closed the whole week and asked the cabin guy to not open them either. i have a feel of seeing the lifeboats and the pipes and stuff around them. no i NEVER go on deck 4 outside on the wonder or magic. haha.

Oh, we will have many, many stern discussions about never opening the door and the kids are good listeners so I know it will be fine. It's just that feeling in the pit of my stomach when they are near the edge of anything. I did manage to walk across Hoover Dam with them this summer and didn't panic so I'm sure it will be fine. :). I am excited about the bigger room and being on deck 6 instead of deck 2. Although for Castaway Cay that lower deck is nice. :). I'll definitely ask about upgrades at the port. Can't hurt :).

they also say ginger pills helps with seasickness and nauseasness thats why they give it to pregnant women when they feel nauseas.

The only time I've ever been "seasick" was when I was very newly pregnant. Lol. It was funny to watch our servers trying to figure out if I kept having to leave the dining rooms because of motion sickness or something like a virus (this was back in 2003 when they were hyper vigilant about Norwalk). Then the next meal I'd be back and feeling fine! Lol! But I learned a very important lesson, 7 day cruises and morning sickness are a miserable combination!

oh wow!! i can't imagine!!! i was very sensitive to smells when i was pregnant, so i'm sure a ship (and the ports) would have been a challenge!!!

i just realized i'm going to have an insane travel day..

my flight to amsterdam is at 4:30 AM, which means i have to be at the airport by about 2:30 AM..
so i have to leave my house at 2 AM
which i guess means i'm not going to sleep at all before that flight.

the flight to amsterdam is 5 hours..

then a race for the next plane - we have one hour to change planes there.

the flight to detroit is.....hmmm...must be about 10 hours or so...

then i have a 4 hour layover in detroit until my flight to orlando..

then the 2.5 hour flight to orlando.

so how many hours will i have been traveling? and how many hours will i have been awake....

hmmm..

maybe i'd better cancel the car rental and take the magical express instead...

and i'll be arriving at night....i think i might be a tad too tired to drive

I'd tend to agree with you. Yikes!

i really don't know what to do...
i've done it before - traveled for 25 hours and then driven to WDW from the airport...
but i'll be alone this time and my flight arrives just before 9 PM...

and i'm also rethinking my strategy about using a car service to the port...

I think that the Magical Express is a true blessing for those of us that are arriving after a painful number of hours traveling.

I rely on it for convenience as well as safety. The evening arrivals tend to have less wait with more resorts being combined onto a single bus rather than waiting for a resort specific departure.

Then I arrange a rental from the Alamo/National office at the Care Care Center next to the MK parking lot. There are other rental agencies with branches at Hotel Plaza Blvd hotels or at the Dolphin.

It is tricky however to find a company with a drop off close to the Port for one way rental but again is possible.

Are you considering Disney transport to the port? It is a bit pricey per individual but your luggage is
picked up from you resort room and arrives at your stateroom. It does arrive a bit later than most people seem to want to arrive.

What else are you thinking about?

i'd reserved with a town car service to take us to the port, but i just cancelled it.
(it turned out i made a mistake in the name and it wasn't the one i thought it was).

now when i checked the price of the rental car again, it works out cheaper to just rent the entire time and even to park at the port, than to take a town car service.

so maybe i'll do that..

we shall see...
i can still change my mind...

i've never taken the ME from the airport..
i'll just have to change my reservation to add it in..

If you are on DVC points reservation you can book the ME on the member website very easily if you dont want to call member services. I did mine on Wednesday right after booking my flights.
