The number of people that dress up varies from cruise to cruise. I have noticed that the longer the cruise the more people dress up for pirate night. So on the 7 day cruises I have seen more people dress up than on the 4 day cruises. Last year we were on the 7 day eastern the week of halloween and almost everyone was dressed up - but that may have also been the timing. With the popularity of the POTC movies more and more people dress up every year. We are dressing up and have a great time with the pirate theme. If you decide to dress up or not you will not feel left out as on the 4 day it will be about 50/ 50 or less dress up. Just have fun - it is your vacation.

i was wondering if any of the cruise veterans have any secret, must have packing tips. no one in our party of nine has ever cruised before, let alone disney. anybody have a favorite trick or item that might not occur to a newbie?

we're from the City of Champions, land of the Black 'n Gold, the Steel City -- Pittsburgh PA!!

We live in Arkansas now (ya'll) but I was born and raised in Da'Burgh and my wife and I were married on October 6th, 2001 on the Gateway Clipper at Station Square in Pittsburgh.

We miss it there SOOOO much... but we're glad to be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary on the Dream!

the FE list is closed unfortunately. the list closed about a month out. many of us have already finished our gifts and have shipped them ahead to the boat. there was at least one other family that missed out though. perhaps the two families could arrange your own swap? such a bummer that you missed it! -tara

This is our first cruise and I know DD would love to participate even if it was only with a couple of other families, so please let me know, I am also new on the boards so I will keep checking back to see if there are any answers!!! Okay, feel a little weird asking about this, but is anyone planning on bringing alcohol on board? Can we even do that? And, if we can, what are the guidelines for doing it -- I'm assuming I'd have to carry it on, right? Also curious as to how much people typically bring. I'm considering bringing a bottle or two of wine.

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

We've never cruised before either, but there are some great packing lists that have been posted on the disboards in the past. I found a great one -- but can't post the link (not enough posts). Just Google "what to pack for a Disney cruise" or something similar. One suggestion I ran across was one of those over-the-door shoe organizers to hold random toiletries, sunscreen, etc. I picked one up at Walmart for $6.

We have our car service making a stop I want to get DH a nice bottle of scotch, but he'd barely make it 1/2 way through it and I can't stomach wasting so much of it... so think we may go for something light and mixable, like citrus vodka.

We are absolute newbies, but if you send me your number I will reciprocate, she would love that! Finding the stateroom alone will be like a scavenger hunt! I will IM it to you just as soon as I reach 10 post!
