Eric: just remember they don't call it LONG Island for nothing.....I think some spots could be as much as 3 hours from Manhattan.

Perhaps they think 'Hmm, when is my turn?' :earboy2:
Ha,ha...that's something I never worry about. They're probably more envious
of my salary..........which, come to think of it, I obtained through sleeping with the boss!

I nearly forgot to mention:
Viking aka Inspector Gadget has a new toy:
I just got a wireless headphone for my iPod. That is so cool. It consists of a tiny transmitter which docks to the top of the iPod and a comfy headset with integrated controls for the iPod (Skip forwrad/backward, volume, play/pause). The signal is transmitted via Bluetooth and has a range of about 30ft.Both the transmitter and headphones have rechargeable batteries.
It is so cool not to have those cables anymore.

As I said 'Just brainstorming' ;)

Nancy: I don't think it's Amtrak you want to take. Is there such a thing as NJ transit?
I need to ask Jen what she took......I know it was VERY cheap (like $6).....she drove her car from Bethlehem to a Park n Ride in NJ and just took the train into Penn Station. As long as we arrive before you, we will meet you at PS and hold your hand walking through the big, bad streets of NYC!

Driving in NJ can be scarer than the streets of NYC.

Having grown up on LonGGGGa Island I can say that there really is not much to do out there for tourists. I still love to visit my friends and family there. Don't get me wrong, I have very happy memories of going to Eisenhower Park, (even when it was Salsbury Park). Also Naussa Coliseum, Jones Beach, Oyster Bay, and Montauk Point. But ALWAYS headed into The City when we wanted to do something exciting. Just my 2cents worth.
I could give you directions to Billy Joel's boyhood home. He lived on Meeting Lane in Hicksville. And went to Fork Lane Elementary School, same as me. In fact we had the same music teacher. :rolleyes1
OK Jeanne, you can keep sleeping with him, just no hanky panky. Unless he gives you a raise. :rotfl2:

Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?

Is no one working this afternoon except for me??? ;)

I'm sorry that we can't come to New York but we just couldn't figure out
a way to get there for less than a year's salary. It's just a tad too long to drive for the weekend and airfares weren't cheap. Air Canada wanted like $1000 CDN, Southwest doesn't fly to New York and Jetblue (?) was horrible times and a not great price -- I think it was $500-600 US. Could not find anything that was the least bit reasonable. Even looked at the train but that's a lot of money -- really thought the train was cheaper but it's not a cheap mode of transportation at all. Plus it's complicated to cross the border it turns out.

But we could fly to WDW so that's where we'll be partaking of the free dining offer, stuffing ourselves silly and not worrying about the abs that we have no hope of finding anyway. :rotfl:

Back to work for a bit.

Fiona

Wow away for a day doing my duty and visiting relatives and I have 4 pages to catch up on! Tracy now I understand Peter's email - I didn't want to show my ignorance when I got a copy of the email - enjoy V&A's!
Tulirose I will send you the link asap.
And I don't think any of you did any work today!!!

Melody!! HELLO BACK!!! :wave2:

I posted alot today because I DON"T WORK ON FRIDAYS!!!

Thanks for the link Wendy. I'll check the pixs out later.

Sorriy Fiona and Jim that you can't make NYC. You WILL be at Cookie night, right???

Speaking of which - Kim/Bette - Last cookie night one of you two made a DEEE-Li--cious.... oh wait.... I better PM this as cookie night activities is TOP SECRET ! Will PM with my question.

Eric - You'd rather stay in NYC, I'm sure. Long Island is not too exciting...

We should be at cookie night as long as it doesn't snow. Last year we came home in a snowstorm and it wasn't fun.

Fiona

Fiona...remember the snow fondly...not....we actually checked out of the hotel so we could get an early start and we were glad that we did....we hit snow as soon as we got to Connecticut and had snow, sleet and icy conditions through New York and into Pennsylvania...which I-84 from the NY border to our home tends to be mountainous. Not a fun trip home..you never can depend on the weather especially when it is going up the coast because we always get it first and then it travels to NY and New England.

We actually found that the 11 day cruise was quite reasonable...our reservation for the three of us for 4 additional days was around $1400.00 total which too me (an Irishman who can also be very frugal) was not bad. Actually not having the two stops at Castaway Cay was what sold it for us....we don't even get off of the ship on Castaway Cay and the thought of two stops there did nothing for us. Plus, I am not a fan of the cities in Mexico, Sam doesn't care where we go and Sarah hates Mexico so the extra ports were great for us.

We're actually thinking of doing RCCL to Bermuda in 2007....it sails right out of New Jersey and is very reasonable...my boss went there this summer and loved it.....he had a verrandah, transportation from our city to the port for $599.00 per person. Might even look at the RCCL New England/Canada cruise.

Michele....how far are you from Harpers Ferry? We discovered this on one of our trips home from somewhere and really enjoyed it...we have been there several times...it reminds us of Jim Thorpe, PA.

Tulirose...did you get to the Partheonon in Tennessee? We really enjoyed it there as Sarah loves those kind of things. Were the catfish still all around Nashville? We actually made a point to go and see Stacey's two fish (papa's very talented daughter). We also went to Belle Meade and the Hermitage. But the highlight of our trip was meeting Mike and Kathy and their family. Last year we met Jill Fox in Colorado.

Hello all! I just finished reading the last, I think, 10 pages! Let's see.....

Ave...Not sure what we are going to do....drive, fly.....we will be interested in a room for Friday night, regardless. Do you suppose it might be cheaper to stay at All Stars or the like? :earsboy: Then we can take the bus, or rent limos and share rides? Sorry to hear that the septic is going to cost you extra, but it will pay off in the long run!

Wendy, Congats on your good grades! :cheer2:

Jim, sorry to hear your great day went sour. I know the feeling all too well! Wishing you a better day tomorrow!

Fiona, glad to hear you had a good Dr report! It encourages one to keep doing the right thing for our health! :)

Jeanne, Congrats to your son! I am glad I could help with the win! :cool1:

Eric, thanks for the chart and the, once again, updated list! Also, Congrats for grabbing post 4200! Tell Anja that after about 6 months I may be willing to ship Daisy overseas...forever! J/K, She has really been very good, but I know too, that she is just "testing the waters". I dread those teenage puppy years! :dog:

Tracy, Have fun at DisneyLand!! :earsgirl:

Sarah's Mom, Harpers Ferry is about 5 hours away from us. We have toured nearly the whole state, but have never been there! I might have to put that on our to do list! :moped:

For eveyone else...I hope this finds you happy and healthy and I hope I didn't forget anyone! We are starting to get a better schedule, so I hope to be able to keep up with the posts better!

Ok, so no Long Island hotel. I just saw that hotels get cheaper once you're near JFK Airport and even cheaper further east.

Michele,
could you make that four months? Daisy would then arrive just in time for Xmas :teeth:
But staying at an AllStars or at the PopCentury before the cruise sounds like a good idea. We could share a van in that case.
Although the pre-cruise bar-b-q would be fun, too - Fortunately we still have more than a year to plan ;)

Hello everyone. Hope that you all are having a great weekend. Hope that you all have smooth seas and a great cruise. Miss you guys. Take care and we will get together again. Mike and Kathy

I volunteer to do the magnets for the doors. Renee, upon her return from the repo cruise, is going to let me know HOW to do same!!

I notice that since Jeanne isn't working today, she doesn't have time to post.

Once I am finished with all my conference planning, I will be glad to help with something.

I exhausted we were shopping all day and it is HHH so each time you get in the car you can hardly breathing. Once it cooled down we were stopping to go to another store.

Nancy

Just made plane reservations for our October trip to BCV (girl's trip). We were waiting to see if we could get a deal. Well, yesterday, the lowest r/t price went from $170 in the a.m. to $220 in the evening. I thought that might happen when the gas prices skyrocketed yesterday. We are now paying $2.49/gal. Price went up about 15 cents in one day.

Can't remember if any Cruistoberfester has used Magical Express to get luggage and luggage-owner from airport to WDW resort. Seems to me that someone did (JeanneG?). Wonder how it worked out if you did. Our practically only airline in Charlotte (US Air) is not on the list of participating air lines. Not sure what that means, but I thought we would pick up our own luggage and just take the free bus ride. Wonder if it takes as long as Mears buses do (whole bunch of stops before you get to your resort). We haven't done Mears in years. Took forever to get to our resort.
