For Anja. Hope you get a new position to your liking.

Can't wait to ready your full trip report on Thailand.

Lindsey and Corey were both home this weekend. We went to Cortland on Friday to see Corey's club lacrosse team play in the quarterfinals of the national club lacrosse league championship.....it was pouring rain. We have seen him play more often in the rain than anything else. Unfortunately the lost and their season is over....wait 'til next year

Lindsey has an internship with GE this summer in Indiana, so we probably won't see here again for a few months.....Mom is not happy :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Looking forward to cruisin the Panama Canal with Peter, Jenn, Bette, Kim and a whole bunch of there DISers.

Dave, Ellen and the rest of the canal cruisers have a great trip:banana:

Eric still have our fingers crossed for a good position for Anja.

Hope that everyone has a great week as we will be driving to Washington DC on Wednesday and will not drive back until Sunday. Just a short mini vacation to see Art and Cathy and to just get away for a few days. Mike

Morning everyone. I have been in lurking mode since getting back from Williamsburg last Monday. We had a great time in Williamsburg, and went to alot of the things we didn't get to see on our last trip. Plus made side trips to the Pottery, Candle Outlet and the other main Outlets. I think we are going to try to make it an annual trip.

Jeanne--- Interesting story about your hotel in NYC. Glad that your son is doing so well. How is the moving in going?

Jean--- Thanks for sharing your review of SSR. We toured it our last trip to WDW, I just wasn't wild about the location. I like the layout of the studio since it has the queen size bed and then pull out sofa and for the 2 of us that would be perfect. OKW has 2 queeen size beds in their studio so may try SSR on our next trip. We are just glad we are going to be going back to OKW this trip since it has been 4 years since we stayed there.

Rosemary--- Sounds like you are enjoying your motorhome.

Eric and Anja--- Glad you had a wonderful trip and returned home safely. Good luck to Anja on getting the job she wants.

Marianne--- Congratulations on your promotion and good luck with moving.

MaryJo--- Nice to hear that thinks are going well. Good luck to Sam and Sarah on their studies.

Ave--- Hope things continue to move forward on your house.

Mary--Good luck on your new job. How is the new house?

Tracy--- You will have to post a picture of your new partner. Did you have snow?

Dave--- Congratulations to your son's lacrosse team for having made it that far in the national tournament. Also congratulations to your daughter on her internship.

Happy Sailing to all the Panama Canal cruisers. I will just miss waving to you as you sail away as we arrive in Orlando at 6pm. I received an email from All Season's travel and they are still placing people on the Panama Canal cruises. I guess a number of people must have dropped out when the final payment date came.

Papa and Kathy, Goofynut and Art--- Enjoy your trip to DC this weekend. I hope the weather warms up for you.

Nancy

WOW! Nancy! You're good! Either that, or you took notes as you went through the threads! :confused3 By the time I get caught up I can never remember what the first person said! So, I'll lump sum by saying....good luck, congrats, bon voyage, hurry back, and this thread is useless without photos! :grouphug:

Update on Anja:
She had that talk with the Chief Nurse today and made clear that she's not willing to go to the ER, but would prefer to go to a surgical or another orthopedic ward. She has another -this time individual- appointment with the Chief Nurse for tomorrow.

Dave & Ellen, Mike & Kathy, Art & Cathy:
When I packed our dive logbooks before leaving for Thailamnd I found our group-picture taken by the DCL-photographer on Pirates-Night. Will scan it soon and send it to all of you.

Still no mail from the newbies.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Pixie Dust for Anja's meeting with the head nurse tomorrow.

Welcome home Nancy, glad that you had a nice trip to Williamsburg. Enjoy your trip to the Walt Disney World. When we were in Vietnam that is what we use to call the United States (the world).

For the newbies here is a link to some photo's from Cruisetoberfest II

If anyone has a spare transmission for a Montana please send it my way!

Transmission died on my van and is costing $3K to fix so no trips to WDW for us for a while. :sad1:

Where are the lottery winnings when you need them?

Fiona

Fiona -- So sorry about the transmission. Can't win with cars (vans, SUV's, etc.). Either you are making payments on a new one or paying for expensive repairs once the loan has been paid off.

Sorry to hear that your tranny went, Fiona :sad2: We had a total transmission faliure on our last convertible at 50,000km. Opel (German GM) had a program running then which gave you a special warranty when you had the car serviced on schedule. Unfortunately this warranty was only good when the car broke down enroute, but we made it to shop and teh thre transmission literally died in the dealership's yard. When the service guy surprised me with an estimate of Deutschmarks 5,000+ for the replacement I nearly had a stroke. But then the boss of the service-department simply fixed the papaers to make it appear that they had us towed in from somewhere downtown and so the factory's insurance had to pay :teeth: Needless to say that I left a really large tip, and next time we were up there (It happened in Kiel, Anja's birthtown) I brought them some gifts: A nice Mag-Lite with engraving for the mechanic and a letter-opener for the boss.

Talking about bosses: After a 30minute-talk with the Chief Nurse Anja got a transfer to a different ward. She will start work at a combined orthopedic/gynecological ward next Monday. It's a completely new ward, and I guess it also helped that the Chief Surgeon for this ward explicitely requested Anja and another nurse from her ward ;)
Anja says Dankeschön for all the good thoughts :wave2:

Great news about Anja's new work assignment  Sorry to hear about your transmission Fiona. We are headed to Washington DC in the morning and meeting Cathy and Art there. Thursday looks like a sunny day so that will be a good day to ride the ducks. Looking forward to the trip and spending a few days with our friends.

Hope that everyone has a great weekend and maybe someone in our group will hit the lottery so that we can say we have rubbed elbows with the rich. Mike

Unfortunately I'm still paying this one off!!

Fiona

Eric - Glad to hear that Anja is going to a ward that she will (hopefully) like and not the ER. Was sending pixie dust her way.

My van has 180,000+ kms on it although it's not quite 4 years old so I guess it was to be expected. Luckily it didn't happen on the drive to WDW so it could have been worse.

Fiona

Hello everyone! Great news Anja! So glad you will be working where you will be happy. Fiona... sorry about your van... thank goodness you were close to home when it happened!
Hope all is great with everyone.. Happy Tuesday!

Anja. Cpmgrats on the new position at work! Glad to hear all is working out well!

Fiona, sorry to hear about the transmision! I think you got your monies worth out of though! 180,000 miles! YIKES! Just yesterday we traded in our '02 Avalanche...that we got in July of '01, for an '05 Avalanche. The '02 only had 37,500 miles on it! That's less then 10,000 miles a year. Needless to say, it's in good shape...but we couldn't pass up the new one!

Mike, wishing a safe trip! Enjoy your weekend away!

GREAT NEWS about Anja's job in the new ward. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Sounds like it should work out well with the docs requesting her.

Fiona, sorry to hear about your transmission. I did have a transmission go in our mini van once on a trip home from WDW. Not quite as far as you, but I had to leave the van in Daytona, fly the family back to NY and then fly back the next week to drive it home.   I was not a happy camper. The van was still under warrenty which covered the repair costs, but not all my added expenses.

The only good thing that came of it was we got an extra day at Disney. Our flights home were the next day out of Orlando and we had annual passes....so when life gives you lemons.....you go to Diseny World for Lemonade :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Wish I could claim it was 180,000 miles but it's actually 180,000 kilometres which is approximately 112,500 miles (I think I did the math right -- Eric correct me if I'm wrong). A mile is approximately 1.6 km.

Fiona

Still, that is A LOT of miles! What is the life of a transmission anyway? As hard as it is to fork out the money for a new one, I still think that one served it's purpose! I hope you get it fixed soon and without much trouble!
