Congrat to Jean and John! Now the FUN starts! One nice thing about moving is that you are forced to do a "Clean Sweep" of old stuff. Do LOTS of tossing and donating. The less stuff you have to move the easier it will be

In our "moving news" we made a counter offer today and expect to hear the results in 24-48 hours. If all goes well we will be closing April 18th.We have already desided we will be tossing/donating tons of stuff. The kids bedroom furiture, most of our living room stuff, and EVERYTHING in the attic (except the Christmas decorations. It's just not worth the time/space/money to move everything to Fl. I have been wanting to get the kids new bedroom stuff for awhile anyway.(Eric we offered to leave the kids with the buyers, but they said it was a "deal breaker"!LOL!)

Eric,I agree with you about 'Hotel New Hampshire'. Very stange book but an enjoyable read. I think he also wrote, "The World According to Garp".

Marianne...glad to hear David is feeling better. I have noticed a drop in the number of people we are seeing with the upper respritory/flu symptoms. I think (at least in this area) the worst is over.

Great race on Sat. and Sunday. Mark won the Busch race and finished 7th in the Nextel Cup race. He is now 3rd in points!

Congratulations Jean and John! I wouldn't dig up the statue until everything goes through lol.

Yep Mary,
'The World According To Garp' is also by J.Irving. It's on my list too, but the next will be 'The Water Method Man'. It's already waiting at the office. I ordered it together with the DVDs of '13 going 30' and 'Princess Diaries 2' and had it sent to my office, but since I haven't been there for a week I have to wait til Thursday to pick it up.

One of my favorite John Irving novels is "A Prayer for Owen Meany".......it was one of our book club discussions about 4 years ago. For March we're reading Pat Conroy's "The Great Santini". I saw the movie decades ago but never read the book. I'm just hoping I'll get the time to read it with all that's going on. I missed the February meeting because we were in route to PA but it was a blessing in disguise because I had only gotten about 25% through that one (Barack Obama's "Dreams From My Father")! It is NOT a good thing to have the activity chair miss 2 meetings in a row.....I'm gonna have to act like my kids and find the Monarch Notes!

Jeanne,
I read 'The Great Santini' some years ago and liked it very much. Conroy is great, I read several books from him in German years ago, but he's on my shopping list for 'Must-Have-English-Books' too. We got an Oxfam-store in Frankfurt selling used books in splendid shape with all the proceeds going into Third World-Projects. They usually have two large shelves of English books and I never leave the shop with less than two books. 'The Hotel New Hampshire' I also bought there. We'll be there again next Saturday as I'm running out of books.

Congrats Jean and John!! I'll agree with Renee and now the fun begins. Hopefully you won't find too much in your kids rooms.

Eric - I've seen both 13 going on 30 and Princess Diaries 2 and thought that both were cute.

We actually got the snow that they predicted we would get and it's still snowing off and on today. We are supposed to get around 5cm today and another 5cm tonight. That's about 4 inches more on top of the about 15 cm (6 inches) we already have. Can't wait for spring!

Back to work which today is so frustrating I'm surprising people with my ill temper!

Fiona

Jeanne and Mary: Congratulations on the good news about your houses.

Jeanne: Did you get any info in your theatre newsletter about Matthew Boderick and Nathan Lane starring in the Odd Couple together. This past week our local paper indicated they would be performing at the Palace theatre in the Odd Couple but when I called the Palace they said that was a misprint. Then the paper also confirmed this. I am dying to see the both of them..especially in that show. If you hear anything please let me know. I believe they start performing in October..

I reported for jury duty yesterday and was able to postpone it to the end of April...

Fiona,
no snow in Frankfurt, but this morning we had -8°C/18°F. In Bavaria it was -26.2°C/-15°F :cold: :cold: :cold:
We already know '13 going 30' (Saw it during our flight to Florida), but missed 'Princess Diaries 2'. We liked '13 going 30' so much that we wanted the DVD anyway. We don't go to the cinema very often, we prefer to buy the DVDs and we pool all our DVDs with some friends. As soon as I order or buy one I send a mail to them and they all do the same. Save a lot of bucks ;)

Hey Guys,

I have a question. We're trying to setup a group picture on our August Repo cruise like the ones we had done the past two years. They want to charge us $85 for him/her for the hour plus the cost of pictures. They didn't charge us to take our pictures, right? We just had to pay for the picture itself.

Thanks,

Reneé

Yes Renee,
it was 'just' the $19.95 for each print - and IMHO we deserved a rebate on that one. Calling up another $85 is a rip-off!!!

In Baden-Würtemberg (Southern Germany, West of Bavaria last night's temp: -36.1°C/-33°F :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold:

Thank you Eric. That's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure.

Reneé

Hope I didn't steal #2000 from you. :teeth:
