Oh, you guys in the cold weather don't really want to know what the weather here in central FL is like. This week and last had been unseasonably warm. It's 76-77-78-79 during the day and 60-61-62 during the evening. Chris and I were just talking about this yesterday that we always expect January to start the cold weather and the worst for FL is in February. But, so far, nothing! I'm sure it will come soon, but I'm enjoying the weather for now.

Amy,

We'll be in Florida the beginning of September for a couple days after the repo cruise. We're heading to Busch Gardens for a change of scenery so if you want to get together, let me know. We'll be there from Sept. 3-5 and are flying out of Tampa airport.

Reneé

Wouldn't you know it, we'll be going on the DVC cruise Sept 4-8. Maybe we can try to get together on the 3rd. We'll have to see if we can work it out since you'll be in my neck of the woods.

Amy...where was that warm weather a month ago?? We were in FL from 12/11 to 12/26 and for the most part, it was COLD and wet. Now, granted, we made the best of it and layered on the clothes, but it would have been SO much nicer had the weather been in the 70's as you say it is now. I guess you just never know when you book in the winter months. I would love to pack up the kids and come back just to enjoy the weather!

I know what you mean. Christmas was icky here!! I hated the cold, wet, gloomy weather. But, I'm loving this warm sunny weather. I was shopping with my mom on New Years Day and we were in short-sleeves & pants and I kept thinking, where are my shorts? I grew up in the Chicago area, so I know all about snow and I don't miss it at all!!!

It's unseasonably warm here also.......today will be about 72 degrees, but earlier this week we hit 76! My azaleas already started to bloom when we had another warm spell in December. If they bloom again now, I'll surely be left with nothing in the spring.

nancy: I forgot to ask....how are you coming along with the broken pipe situation?

Renee and Alikat: love the new photos of the kids!

If it's Anja's birthday on the day we sail that means all the welcome drinks are on her, right? (schnapps excluded!)

Just thought I would jump on and wish everyone a Happy New Year! We have a few inches of the white stuff here, just got done using Chris' new Christmas gift to get the drive clear! Has anyone else gotten a notice about a class action lawsuit against Disney? Someone is sueing because they say the Disney travel company went out of the way to make it VERY hard for people using the site to know they were buying travel insurance! I know I used that site and I always saw the block. They stand to get a few compensations, according to what I saw in the pamphlet! I guess the excitement of the trip makes people race through and not see some things. I, on the other hand, when spending that kind of cash, go out of my way to read EVERYTHING twice! :earseek: Hope everyone stays safe who is having any of this lovely winter weather, take care, Chris and Denise

PS Kim - I sent you a pm. I think I forgot to send you our cruise info so we can join the group again!

Bette -- So sorry about the all the delays in getting your surgery done. Hope all gets goes well with the new doctors and that you have get back to normal quickly.

As Jeanneg (from Raleigh) posted, temps in the Carolinas are above normal. 74 in Charlotte yesterday and it is supposed to stay in the high 60's until Monday at least, altho we did have an article in the paper Sunday that pointed out that when we have had this kind of mild winter in the winter in the past, we have made up for it with big (for NC) snowstorms that have paralyzed the city. Our DD got married on January 16, 1999, and it was in the low 70's -- how great was that? Unfortunately, the marriage was not as great as the wedding day and she is now divorced.

I thought you would pay - That is if you sold your house until then

Today in Germany we passed the €200,000,000 ($270,000,000) mark in donations for the tsunami-victims. Not bad for a country with only 81 million people, and the money is still pouring in. It's unbelievable!! And our government decided to give €500,000,000 ($670,000,000), which will be used to rebuild the infrastructure in the affected regions over the next 3 to 5 years.
Even though most of us at my company already donated one way or the other our management decided to make a collection in all departments and match every Euro. The first day already brought nearly €2000.
In one two-hour Charity TV-show on Tuesday they were able to collect €40,000,000/$54,000,000.
Thailand's Secretary of Tourism asked all tourists to come and spend their money. I checked with our TA, our hotel and our dive-base, and everybody says 'Come, we need you!!' So we'll proceed as planned and will fly to Thailand in three months

Amy ... My how time flies, I can't believe how big your girls have gotten. One ? however, who is the crafty one to make them those beautiful matching dresses!

Eric ... Art and I are a little worried about your continung with your spring vacation (or as you may call it - Holiday) Are you and Anja taking any precautions with shots for some of the diseases they are talking about cropping up since the tsunami?

Bette ... how you feeling? Heard anything on when you are to be rescheduled for your surgery? Take care and get better ... we want to see you dangling from the parasail again soon. :love2: :love2:

My mom is the crafty one!! I can sew, but she's been sewing since she was 8, so she is really, really good. She makes the girls matching clothes all the time, it's so great to see what she's come up with next. Plus, Emily is into dress-up right now, and so far my mom has made her a Belle dress, a Snow White dress and an Ariel costume. Now, Emily wants Cinderella, Aurora and Jasmine. She just loves when Nana brings her something new that she made.

Cathy & Art,
we're just getting the typical prophylactical shots for the region: Tetanus, Diphteria, Infantile Paralysis & Hepatitis A.
P.H.U.K.E.T. is already back in good shape, but the area about 50 kilometers/30 miles north of was heavily hit. With three months to go, Thailand being one of the wealthiest countries in the region, plus those people at least as hardworking as us Germans  we are looking forward to our vacation.
We appreciate your caring for us

I'm off from work today. I took it as my New Year holdiay. Since I already have the Christmas decorations down, it gives me some more time to do other things. I have been to weight watchers, gym and the Baja Beach (my tanning salon for my free upgrade). Yes, I know it is bad for you but it is the only bad thing that I really do. DS#2 will be going back to college tomorrow and since he only worked 1/2 day today we are going shopping.

Bette- Sorry about the screw up and having to reschedule. Take care of yourself.

Mike--- I thought we were going to look into another cruise line for a fall cruise. Both RCCL and Carnival leave from Port Canaveral. I've done both and there are plus and minuses to each.

Cathy--- Now that you are finished with your remodeling you can just drive down my way and start on mine.

Jeanne--- Hope the house sells sounds like that family is just right for your place. Got toliet fixed on Monday. I was getting tired running up and down the steps just to use the other bathroom. How many of your children are still at home? Did you ever get your car back?

If there was ever a remote possibilty that I was going to continue to do ice hockey related work, this past week has made me even more determined that I am finished in May. My New Years resolution was to try to be less of a b***h, but this group of people have just pushed me over the edge. It just shows that people only want to hear you agree with their assessment of the situation, if you don't of course the rules are wrong and they are right. Ok, off my soap box.

I'm off to enjoy the rest of my day. Today I can begin to enjoy some of the benefits of the senior discounts that start at age 55.

Nancy

jeanneg-do you have room for a visitor. It's snowing here again and I could use a visit to some higher temps. The schools are closed again and the road I commute on was closed this morning for a jackknifed truck. Luckily I can remote to our network and do most of my work from home. We don't have an official telecommute policy but hopefully I won't be charged for a full leave day. I guess I need to go shovel again. I'm gonna go to Dad's and steal his snow blower. On second thought maybe not. They're forcast for another four feet at Tahoe this weekend. We should only get 12-18 inches.

And they call Canada the frozen north???

We have less than 1 inch of snow on the ground as we didn't get the storm that was predicted yesterday. It's cold but not really any snow.

Amy, We will definitly give you a shout if and when we head to WDW. The girls are growing so fast.
Beautiful weather all week! 70's in the day, 50's at night. And not a snowflake in sight.
Nancy, glad you got your bathroom back. Now if you could just get your car back.
Just got back from a free 45 minute upper body massage. One of my patients is the owner. It was wonderful! Wish I could get one every week. Oh well, guess I'll have to start playing LOTTO. :D

Bye for now.
Avé

Van: as they say in NYC......OY VEY! That's alot of snow! And yes, you're more than welcome to come here as long as you're willing to follow all the house-showing rules! Yesterday was 74 degrees and my girlfriend was out playing golf in shorts! When it comes to golf, I think I'd rather have an enema so I didn't join her!
The big family decided our home was too small for them (I can't win) but we're having a repeat showing to the other couple tomorow. I just got our heating bill for the home we don't live in and it was almost $200! And that was keeping the thermostat at 62! It's a good thing this month is considerably warmer.

Nancy: does that mean it's your birthday? If so, have a happy one! What ever happened to that birthday list someone was putting together? I don't think I ever received one. I'm glad your plumbing problems are over. And yes, I got my car back the Wednesday between Christmas and New Years and it seems to be fine. I was so afraid my OKW license plate was going to be gone or damaged but it's perfect.
