Andre & Kerstin (The other Germs) say Hi to everyone
Kerstin only can go online at the office during breaks and as she's very busy for the time being she won't have time to roam the boards anytime soon.

I did some shopping yesterday! (Probably should not have, but it's the first time I felt like it in months!)

I finally broke down & bought a digital camera. After getting some of my pictures from the cruise back, and they weren't all that I would have liked, I decided, I'm tired of losing vacation memories to film, developers, etc.

So, Eric, you're the digital guru--pls tell me this was a decent purchase: Sony Cyber-shot, 4.1 mega pixels. It says Sony Lens f=5.0mm 1:2.8 and 5 Frame Multi Point AF. I did not get a larger memory stick--I think the one it came with will hold about 40 pictures. That's okay, I can always download & delete as I use it. When I go on vacation again, I'll invest in more memory. The thing is smaller than my cell phone! I'm going to just keep it in my purse, so I'll always have a camera available if needed!

Also, Andy--I bought a "cheap" karaoke machine ($30). It's a Memorex portable. It doesn't have a monitor, but it hooks up to the TV. It came with 1 microphone & I got another one. It also came w/a sample CD. I bought a couple more CD's. I basically got it for my party next month. My library has a few karaoke CD's, too, so I'm going to get those for that weekend. The kids absolutely love it.

Ciara--congratulations on your band competition. I'm sure you did great--don't be so hard on yourself!!!

Those of you calculating your children's ages on the next cruise, Heidi became aware that she will be a freshman in high school! David will be 6th grade, which is the first year of middle school.

Heidi's been very emotional lately. She says she's just now catching up on the schoolwork she missed. I find that hard to believe, as she only missed 4 days (there were conferences that week). She's never had this problem before. I wonder how much of this I can blame on our new homelife, how much on hormones, etc. Both she & David are slacking off on their homework. I have to get more diligent about making them sit down & do it (this is an area where I seriously lack!).

Well, gotta get to work.

Later, Marianne

Eric:

If you video'd the banana boat ride that would be deemed as blackmail pictures...

Arlene

Avé, Mark, Mary and Casey...we are so sorry for your loss. Thank God that she went peacefully surrounded by family. I lost my Mom to cancer almost 20 years ago (she was 61 and was going to retire at her 62nd birthday in February...she died in January)--not a day goes by that I don't miss her and wish that I could give her a daily call! My mom also passed peacefully...I was the last one to arrive at her house and it seemed like she waited for me because I wasn't there 5 minutes and she died.

Avé...please let us know if we can do anything for you and yours.

Marianne....Sarah is also still catching up on tests that she missed. The dreaded English teacher usually gives them a test a week along with several quizzes!! Sarah tends to procrastinate and usually ends up doing projects, papers, etc. the night before they are due. I could kill her but since I am the same way...the apple didn't fall far from the tree!!!

Ciara...CONGRATULATIONS on the band competition....YOU GO GIRL!!! Mary Jo

I've been busy (like the rest of you) getting caught up on the yard stuff and laundry and didn't see Ave & Mark's sad news.

Mark and Ave ... We wish you comfort and good memories of your Mom / MIL during the next few weeks. Art's Mom died of cancer and I know you have mixed feelings ... didn't want her to suffer but at the same time miss her so. Take care and here's a hug from Art & I.

Ciara ... Great news about the band. Awesome that you will be playing at Giant Stadium! Hope there are lots of pictures to document that special time.

Eric, great list. I like leaving the ages off and having the kids in italics until 6 months before we cruise. You have my permission to put out the "Red Butt Reindeer" picture, just remember the caption is "What some people will do looking for a Hidden Mickey"

Back to the grind ... I mean work!

My loving husband has made a change.

Instead of asking the phone companies to remove his name from the accounts, he asked them to cancel the accounts & disconnect the phone.

We found out when Heidi tried to call me after school today. She had to call from a neighbor's house.

I have re-established service, however, I had to get a new number because, technically, 356-1569 is Tom's number (as he established the service 10 years ago!), and he has rights to it for 90 days. It would have been more work to get him to release it.

So, short story long, my new home phone number will be effective Wednesday, October 27th. Until then, you can call me at work or on my cell in the evening.

I don't know how this change will affect my e-mail, as it's through SBC Yahoo!. I'll know more when the phone comes on on Wednesday.

Thank you, and have a nice day!

Marianne Zapp

(I didn't print my phone numbers, as this is the Internet. If you want my number, pm me.)

Hello all:

Sorry for the long absence from the thread-but I do have a life you know! LOL

Ave'-Scott and I are so sorry to hear about Marks mother passing!

Viking- LOVE the new list layout! Thank you! I guess maybe I should email you moms info-as she is coming with us too.

DCLfan-Is he really coming? Wow-how exciting-Kevin-Rosemary and Me back together at last (no 3 stooges jokes please!)

papa-love the new pic of Katie! She is so adorable.

Well gotta run, everyone have a great day!

Dan

Marianne -- Disconnected the phone?? Unreal! Talk about rotten things to do and extremely unsafe, too, especially with children in the house. How about emergencies? I bet Heidi was really upset. Thank goodness you have neighbors where she could use the phone. I so sympathize with you. Oh, well, as they say : what goes around, comes around. I sure hope it does in this case!

Eric tell our German friends we said Hallo and that Kathy said she would break the video camera. Seien Sie sichere und Nehmenextraobacht auf Castaway Cay, das Sie nicht eingetaucht erhalten.

Mike

Marianne....can we say passive-aggresive???

I will be going to Florida tomoorw to be with Ave and her family for the funeral. Several DIS'ers have asked for Ave's address. If anyone else wants it ask TuliRose or Eric and she/he can forward it to you.

MaryJo....sorry to hear Sarah's teacher is giving her a hard time. I also struggle with the school issue. Bottom line is it is a personal decision, that every parent must make for themselves. You know your child the best. I'm sure you will do what is right for yours.

Mary give Ave, Mark , Casey and everyone in PCB a big hug from all of us here. Words cannot express our feelings.

Mike

Ave & Mark, you are in our thoughts today ... I know this will be a very hard day for you and the entire family.

Dan & Scott ... Hey how's things? How is Fantasia? Do you believe we will have Rosemary, DCL Fan and your Mom all back for one big reunion.

Speaking for Art & I ... isn't it funny how once you have "Cruisetoberfest'd" you have to do it again and again to be reunited with your "Family". Amazing how so many strangers from all over can meet virtualy and gel so well physically into one big family of friends. This is going to be an awfully looooooooong
time till we cruise again.

I've started to think about Spring in Washington DC ... Aprilish in 2005. See some sights and meet up for dinner(s). Cherry Blossom was nice but maybe just after cause then it won't be so crowded.

ZAPP ....

Tom ... what the heck was he thinking on stopping the phone service. Wait, I take that back he doesn't think before he acts now does he! I'm starting to think he got dropped on his head while you were in Scranton visiting MaryJo, cause what he's doing is not rational. Keep your head up and thinking straight for you and the kids ... we Luv ya!

Ave, Mark and family. You are all in our hearts and prayers today. We're so sorry for your loss.

Ave, Mark and family - lots of hugs being sent to you.

Have a safe trip Mary and give everyone hugs for us.

Mary Jo - What is it about English teachers? Chris had one for grade 11 English and I finally let him drop the class after I'd talked to her. She was simply awful -- once she didn't let him into class because he was 5 minutes late! This would have been ok except that he was late because he had hurt his leg in gym class earlier in the day and he'd been taken to the doctor and then for xrays and then dropped back at school. I talked to her about it and she said that if you can't get to class on time don't bother coming regardless of the reason you were late. Told her this was ridiculous. He got her again the next year and didn't fare any better with her. He's now trying again to get his English but without this teacher. Hopefully things will work out for the positive.

Marianne - what's your email again for the guess on the # of posts? Can't seem to find it. As to Tom - well, what can be said? Try to keep smiling anyway. Pixie dust that everything works out well and that it works out quickly but fairly. Keep those smilies smashing the computers if it helps!

Must get back to work since my desk is now buried once again (and will probably stay buried til Christmas). Voicemail is flashing and I still have messages to return from this morning. It's going to be a long week I think.

Take care everyone.

Fiona

Marianne,
Sony-digicams are fine - Ask Dave, he loves his Sony, and so does Tim.
At least for the cruise you don't have to care about extra memory: I'll bring my cd-burner and you can download as often as you want.

Marianne,
Add me to the Sony fan club. I bought the 4.1 Mpixel before the last cruise. I've almost got my folders cleaned up and I'll post a link to my pics so you can see them. It's very easy to use and I haven't even dug into the manual yet. The pic of McKenna below was taken with it as a mater of fact.

It also has a Sony made underwater housing so you can keep full function of all the options while in the case. Some aftermarket cases are only point and shoot. I bought it over some of the 10x zoom models because of the price and resolution. I also found a Sony ad on lens so if I get bored with the "stock zoom" I can buy an upgrade lens.

Cathy how much of that arsenal do you have left? I am saving up for a super soaker blaster with a 200 meter range. Kathy
