Welcome Back Eric! It's good to have the "family" back together again!

As for the tux.....I doubt Steve will have one...we'll probably just bring his suit. What do the ladies normally wear? I am a stay at home mom and my wardrobe is sweats, blue jeans and tshirts! Am I going to have to go out and splurge on a gown, or will my "Little Black Dress" be okay?

Going to the Monster Truck Jam tonight!! We even have a pit pass for before the show! I HAVE to remember the camera!

It's dreary and rainy here this morning. Daisy even let me sleep until 830! Suppose to change over to snow later today with an inch or 2 staying with us.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!!

The TUX issue - DH rented one last cruise from the cruise line formals. It looked good, was in the room, with 2 extra shirts, and we left it for our room steward when we left. Easy!!

Michele - I don't like to spend exta money on anything either if I might not be able to wear it again (formal dresses really don't go with the boots, leather gear and weapon!). But dress stores (my red one was 60% from Jessica McClintock store) have awesome sales on and off all year. If I can fit into the dresses I wore last time, I will not by new, but if I am skinnier this year I hope to get a good sale and have 3 dresses for future events or sell them on ebay, who knows. If you have a Von Maur in your area, they always have good clearance rack dresses around that time as they are getting rid of summer clothes and getting new winter wear. But a little black dress is perfect. I am wearing mine to semi-formal this year, formal is the one that is up in the air!

Not everyone wears a Tux, many just do suits. I think probably less than 50% of the men have a Tux. My DH will be wearing a suit.

Welcome back Eric.

Nancy

Perhaps on our table the men could wear a dinner jacket and a kilt to honour Wendy & Doreen pirate:

Welcome back, Viking!!!!! While you were gone some imposter tried to take your place!

Kim: did the package arrive?

And speaking of packages, sorry to say, but yours never did, Eric.

I don't believe this!!! :guilty: I mailed it together with Jim & Fiona's. It contained the same items, and there shouldn't be much difference in running time to Canada or to North Carolina :confused3 Unfortunately the items that where in there are only available for some weeks before xmas - we don't have those horrible 'Xmas-around-the year' stores over here.

Big Red one, thank you for that information.

Viking, was there any reason why you couldn't just not answer as you were no help to me?

My DH will wear a Tux. He believes formal means formal, but we don't attend enough functions that make it cost efficient for him to own a tux yet. Perhaps one day. We will see what the cruise line send.

Thanks to those who offered help. I did think I would be able to get it here.

Talking about formal night:
As Anja has problems finding the perfect gown at 5' and 100lbs she thinks about having one tailored in six weeks in Thailand. Those tailors are really great - and they are accustomed to that size as teh ladies over there are petite, too.

Please excuse my posting, but where I come from it is polite to also reply if one can not be of help - just to make clear that a question was heard.
But perhaps October will be too cold for a tux anyway ;)

Don't you think your comment to Eric was a bit rude? . Perhaps on other chat groups people talk like that, but on our cruise chat I have never seen anyone be so abrupt, nor do I think it was necessary.

Kim

cd&cm,
and it obviously is also considered polite to do like I did over here. I coincidentally just found this on the DIS UK Forum:

I don't think it's a stupid question at all.

Unfortunately I don't know the answer, so i'm of no use to you.

The only thing I can say is, I thought that the only legal download site for Lost is the US Itunes site. And you can't burn CDs from the itunes downloads, so it makes me wonder that a site that permits you to burn CDs would be legal - that is, that it would have an agreement with ABC. I tend to doubt it.

But i don't know.

So perhaps you really should work on your attitude

Hi everyone.....can we all just be a happy family again, please.....life is way too short for bickering.....and besides, we're all going on a Disney cruise!

Michelle: wanted to reply to your formal night question......

I am sure whatever you choose to wear will be just fine. Please don't stress about it. Some people get dressed to the nines and it's really neat to see them all dolled up, but that's not me and I really don't feel like taking the time and effort to "glam up" when I'm on VACATION. So, I will be bringing one pair of black Chico's travelwear pants and 2 or 3 interchangeable tops. One will be a longish black travelwear cardigan jacket and the other will be a red silk blouse that is about 5 years old. Then I'll bring a scarf or necklace to make the outfit look different each night. VOILA, I'm done! I'll be comfortable and fit in perfectly since alot of the women wear pretty much the same as I do.
Basically, it's whatever makes you happy as long as it's appropriate (no shorts or super casual outfits) If dressing up is your thing, then go for it, but if not, you'll be perfectly fine in a nice top with pants or a skirt. Right, ladies?

Does John have a kilt? :lmao:

Well, I guess I have been told. Never fear Viking, I will not post on "your" thread again. I will make sure to avoid you and ALL people from this thread on the cruise. People that belittle others have no place in my life.

I hope you all have a wonderful cruise. And please make sure to talk about me on your private board. Yes, I know about it, a friend of your told me after I booked.

Wow, i don't understand that previous post.....did I miss something?

Anyhow, getting back to the kilt.......no, John doesn't have one, but he does have nice legs! Maybe Wendy could bring a "loaner"! :rotfl:

I'm with Jeanne. I take a navy skirt and a black skirt and mix and match tops. I have a silver top with a jacket that I use for formal night over the skirt.

No kilt for Norm. Though I would love to have a kilt for myself.

Ok, I guess cd&cm came with a mission to stir up the pot. I felt we were all being polite and answering questions that were being asked. Despite the well meaning of those of us who were more than willing to answer inquires I guess that was not the intention of this person. You have placed all of us who post on this thread as some sort of villians and you do not know us personally. I have no understanding of what you felt you gained from any of this. What ever you mission was I hope you have now completed it. As for me I am going into hibernation.

Nancy

Well said, Nancy.
At least we seem to be troll-free again. Let's just hope that people like this don't scare genuine new cruisers away.

Change of topic:
Anyone else going to watch 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino/Italy which will start in just five days?
I know it will be tough for Americans and Canadians as we're at least six hours ahead of you, but as your athletes also have great chances to gain lots of medals getting up early to watch some events should be worth it.
Anja & I will definitely switch our TV-focus onto the Olympics. At our gym most TV sets will also be tuned to stations covering the Olympics.
