Hi Rosemary!

Welcome back DVC lady! :cheer2:

Welcome to the USA Eric and Anja!!!! :cool1:
Wish I could be in NYC for the dis-meet. Hope you all have a great time.

Busy here with the new clinic. Lots of changes. Kind of stressful.
Brought DD for her drivers permit today. Today is her 15th birthday! Between forgotten birth certificate, computer crashes, and 1 failed test, what started at 10 AM ended at 4PM. But my DD now has a drivers permit!

Kim, Such great news from the doc. :cheer2: Now be a "good" patient and do what he tells you to do. You don't want to risk re-injuring yourself. :flower:

Sister Mary says Hi to everyone! :wave2: She is still working nights (11p-7a) So a lack of free computer time. But I am keeping her updated. :goodvibes

Night all,
Avé

Ave--- I didn't realize in Fl that you could get a drivers permit at 15. So they must have a permit for 1 year before they can take the test? In PA you get your permit at 16 and then after 6 months take your drives test. You are not allowed to drive after 11pm until you are 18. That changed between my sons each getting a license. So DS#1 was grandfathered in an could drive till midnight while his brother had to be home at 11pm. We had that for about 4 months until the oldest turned 18. Good luck. I had not patience to teach them driving so my husband went with them.

Allen--- Enjoy your cruise on the Wonder. I didn't realize that the Magic was going into dry dock.

Hope Eric and Anja enjoy their vaction.

Nancy

Hi Folks,
thanks for the welcome to your country :wave2:
And I just wanted to remark that we brought the Trailblazer back in one piece. I just forgot to recharge our GPS-Receiver and it gave up the ghost on our way to the mall. Fortunately Peter's directions were so good that we found it without any problems. So on the way back we had to rely on our wayfinding abilities and got ourself very close to Jenn & Peter's house. Meanwhile the battery of the receiver had recovered sufficiently to supply us with data for some minutes. So I switched it on, started the navigation software on my PDA and guess what: We were within three blocks of their and then just arrived when they were leaving.
It's the first time ever that I drove an SUV and I must admit that it's nice, it really makes you want to cruise instead of burning rubber. But I wouldn't want to navigate it through hectic rush hour traffic in Downtown Frankfurt ;)

Kim & Bette,
get prepared for the Germs, we're coming to visit the world's largest dog tomorrrow and if you happen to be close by we may have a gift for you ;)

Ave,
could you please make sure that Mary's driving license is suspended next year when we're in PCB? I intended to rent a Mustang Convertible, but with her roaming the streets I may make that a Hummer :rotfl2:

Allen,
have fun on the ship

Just back from Grills. The Magic left on schedule at 5pm with several large "shipping containers" on deck 10. There were 25 or 30 people on deck 5 and all of the furniture was gone off the verandahs..It was sad :sad1:..they wouldn't even blow the Mickey Horn.. :sad1: Oh well, it will be all better tommorrow. :teeth: :Pinkbounc :rotfl2: Later,
Allen

Welcome to the USA, Eric and Anja!

Good to hear from you, Allen. Hope you enjoy your Wonder cruise as I know you will. We did a 3-day Wonder in June before our BWV vacation in WDW. Very short, but it still was great to be on DCL. Helps to ease the pain of the wait until next October.

We, too, had a cool day yesterday and went to bed with the windows open and fresh air blowing in last night, but it got warmer and more humid today, and I just put the a/c on a little while ago because I don't think we will be comfortable sleeping without it. Haven't looked at any long-term forecasts for WDW when we arrive 2 weeks from tomorrow, but I hope it has cooled off somewhat there.

Allen and family, ENJOY the WONDER!!!!

Eric and Anja, ENJOY the USA!

Ave, HAPPY BIRTHDAY and congrats to your daughter!

DVCLady, WELCOME BACK!

Nancy, yes the area you are in DOES get a LOT more snow then we do! We are about 3 hours south of Morgantown. My inlaws live in Clarksburg, which is about an hour south of M'town. If ever you get that way, let me know and we'll have a mini meet!

Anybody heard from Mike and Cathy? Just wondered how the WDW Vacation went. Can't wait to see photos of Katie and The Mouse!

Good Night Everyone!

Talked with Mike yesterday...Katie is running everyone ragged...having a ball... :rotfl2:

They will head home today..

Peter,Jenn & "the Germs" should arrive about 9 this morning...Looking forward to seeing them. Hope they enjoy a real 'country fair'

Bette

We are heading out to go to the National Apple Harvest Festival this morning near Gettysburg. Adams county is Apple Country. Knouse Foods which makes Musselman Applesauce has like 3 or 4 plants in Adams County.

There are so many festivals going on this weekend it is hard to make a selection where to go.

Hope everyone has a great day.

What fun! I love country fairs like that--with apple cider in a big iron pot, pumpkins and hay rides!

It has not gotten cool here yet, so we are looking forward to some fun fall activities when it does.

I have to go have a root canal in the morning. What fun. I've never had one. Luckily I do not have a fear of the dentist. I wish it hadn't happened this time, but... I have Invisalign (the clear, removable braces.) Well, I cracked an old filling but we were trying to wait to fix it until my Invisalign was finished so the new shaped tooth would not affect the fit of the braces which were molded a year and a half ago. In the meantime, I guess a cavity formed deep in the cracked filling. Thus, root canal. I am actually not too concerned about the procedure but very concerned about being out of there in time to pick up my youngest from school. Plus, I am supposed to have Bunko tomorrow night and am wondering if I will be able to have a drink without drooling it out of that side of my mouth. Important concerns here.

Have a great week everyone.

Jennifer

Jennifer, GOOD LUCK tomorrow! I do have a fear of the dentist, so root canal to me = valium. Just the thought makes me sweat and get a sick feeling. I LOVE to play Bunco! Our neighborhood has Bunco night once a month for couples. One family always has it in July as they have a pool and we play both in and out of the water!

I pulled my back out...again. I think it's from carrying the dog down the steps and in and out of the car. She is hurting. She is growing SO fast, that her bones are aching. So she is limping and not getting in and out of the truck on her own. It all finally came to a head when I was drying off from my shower yesterday. Now I can hardly walk. I already have an appt with the chiropractor for on Tuesday, so I think I'll just wait until then. I doubt they would be able to get me in tomorrow anyway!

Off to get the boys to bed. Have a good night everyone!

Oh my gosh, Michele. You and your puppy both in bad shape (cause and effect syndrome). Hope you are both feeling better soon. Pixie dust to all in the family!!!

PixieDust to everybody in pain :wave2:

Happy Birthday to Mary :cheer2:

We spent a wonderful day at the country fair and had a great dinner at Longhorn's. Tomorrow we're going to Maine to do some shopping - This means that since we arrived we then will have added three states to our list :teeth:
OK, we're turning now.
Everyone have a great week :wave2:

Hello everyone! Haven't posted in a while and thought I'd jump on and say Hey:wave2: Hope everyone has safe and wonderful trips and that all ailments are healing rapidly. Welcome to all the new arrivals, everyone here is wonderful and very friendly (even to us most of the time lurkers!). This is mine and DH second Cruisetoberfest and we can't wait. Just returned from a week at WDW and finishing off a second week of relaxing at home. First day back is tomorrow (unless I can win the lotto!) Do I have too? Anyways, now that this years vacation is over, time to start planning for next October! Have to get signed up for those scuba classes (going to be Chris' Xmas gift). Hope everyone is enjoying the fall season, the colors are beautiful here in Michigan. Waiting for Chris to get home to see if I can get him to go see Disneyland's 50th celebration exibit today at the Henry Ford, looks like a lot of fun. Take care all, Denise

Jennifer--- I hope your root canal goes ok. I don't have a fear of the dentist, I just dislike the dentist (nothing personal with my dentist) I just hate to go. It took me a year and half to decide to get a crown on my tooth.

Michele--- Sorry to hear about your back. I hope the rchiropractor can help you. Let me guess you are still taking care of the dog even with your back out.

Hi Denise--- Glad you dropped in. Glad you enjoyed your trip to WDW. Did you stay onsite?

The Apple Harvest festival was really busy. We parted in an apple orchard and was bused to the fair grounds on a school bus. It was very efficient. Tons of different craft stands. Ended up with a couple of bargains that I just had to have.

Sounds like Eric and Anja are having a good time.

Nancy

Yes, we stayed at the Contemporary. Most people seem to love it or hate it, me, it was ok, but definitely not my favorite. We had an awesome time, but we found out that with all the suggestions and info given on the DIS, we do not need to stay on site any more. Done with our chosen park for the day each day by 1pm, and the only time we returned later was for the night shows. I think our next trip to the parks, we will stay at the Grande Vista again, it was PERFECT!

We hope to get to one of our local apple orchards soon. We have quite a few locally and are looking forward to fresh apples, cider, and donuts. YUM!

thanks to everyone for the pixie dust. and Nancy, OF COURSE I am still taking care of the dog, and the kids and the DH! Laundry doesn't just hop into the washer on it's own and those dang dishes, they just won't fall into the dishwasher alone either!

Denise, good to hear from you again! I love the Contemporary! I would stay there again. DH perferred the Poly, as did the boys. Heck, I could stay any where on Disney...it IS Disney after all! We bought a time share with Westgate, so we will be staying off property from here on out.

Has anyone stayed at The Liki Tiki Village...used to be called Bali something? We are thinking of staying there over Thanksgiving, but the reviews we have seen are VERY mixed....half say it's the bomb and the other half say they need BUG Bombs! there were more good then bad, but it would be our luck to get there and it be really bad! I know you can't please everyone and those that are disappointed will sometimes go overboard. Any how, anyone stay there? thoughts?

well, time to think about dinner and then boy scouts! Have a good night!

Michelle, So sorry about your back! Get well soon and put that dog down!

Denise, we're trying to decide where to make dinner reservations for our WDW trip in January. Did you eat anywhere great?

Thanks for the well wishes on my root canal. It went fine. It just takes a loong time. Plus, halfway through I started thinking about what they were doing in my mouth and I really thought I was going to have to vomit (which would not have been easy since my mouth was clamped open and completely numb.) I managed to hold it together somehow though. Today the tooth feels fine but my jaw is so sore that I still don't want to open my mouth too far and eating is unpleasant.

Have fun shopping in Maine, you travelers.
Jennifer

Jennifer - glad your dental woes are over and hope your jaw feels normal soon! Your post made me want to vomit, dental visits (even cleanings) make me ill!

As for dinner, my DH (Chris) and I differ. His favorite (from prior trips and still after this one) is the California grill. For both of us the food was great, service was a tie for the best all week and the view was superb. We both had the grilled pork tenderloin (to die for), Chris had a tomato salad thing (he liked) and we shared a "peeky toe" california roll (superb) and lava cake for dessert (close to Palo's souffle). All in all great! My favorite this trip was the Coral Reef restaurant. This was new for us this year. Chris thought it was very good, I say the best for me this time. Our server was great, atmoshere was great and the food was excellent (especially since I am not a lover of seafood - have to eat mild tasting fish or shrimp, and the Tilapia "Oscar" was awesome that night). Also got a blue martini with glow cube - COOL! Plus, we also really liked Chef Mickey's for breakfast. We did this twice! Everything else was just ok - Cinderellas Royal Table, Sci-Fi Dine In, Hollywood and Vine, and Whispering Canyon. The only fiasco for us was Boma's. I thought - Chris likes meat, and they have meat. He hated it. With a passion, plus the whole restaurant he said was a zoo. (It was pandemonium that night) Me, I wouldn't ask to eat there again, but it was ok to try once. I know a lot of people say this is their favorite, we'll stick to a little bit plainer food.

have to go get the old uniform ready. First night of work in two weeks. Ben sure is going to get a bath tonight!:dog2: Got to clean the cobwebs off of everything important, have to be ready, just in case. Denise
