Jeanne and Nancy ~ Our plans are to fly in the day before, Oct. 13th, take the shuttle to the hotel (3pm check-in) and leave the kids swim for awhile. If we fly from home, depending on which airline US Air or Delta are flights range from:

LV 6:00 / 6:15 am AR 10:25 am / 11:38 / 12:05 / 7:50 / 7:55 am 12:05 pm / 1:36
LV10:00 / 10:35 am AR 4:10 pm
LV 12:10 / 12:33 pm AR 4:45 pm / 6:37
then anywhere from 4:00 pm to 8:42 - 10:46 pm

Jenny's preference is daytime flying since it is her first time and leaving at 10:35 am. By the time we get our luggage, bathroom/food/shuttle we would be close to check-in plus she would get to see some of FL in the daylight. My preference is different so I think we will need to discuss more and compromise. Right now the tickets from State College are $303.
Now if I was wealthy, we would leave Thurs. night and go to a park the next day.

I just thought leaving locally would be less of a hassle, but maybe not. Can we get assigned seats when we book at Southwest or Airtran.

Any suggestions???? Sorry for the long reply!!!!

Speaking of planes (ha-ha), I posted this on the Starwars thread, but no one responded to me.....is anyone else excited about "Snakes on a Plane?" Eric, Jim, anyone? I just realized I'm going to be in PA when it opens....maybe I can drag Nancy with me to see it! There's a great link that shows a whole bunch of amateur, phony trailers and they are hysterical! I will try to post it if you like.

Snakes, why does it have to be snakes. There is no way that I would go to that movie, I hate snakes. I have been know to run in the opposite directions leaving small children behind when a snake is near. If one comes on TV, I have nightmares about them.

Diana--- The website www.iflypa.com has all the airports listed in PA. Would Pittsburgh be closer. Both AirTran and Southwest fly out of there. AirTran looks more expensive from Pittsburgh than from Baltimore. AirTran you can pick your seats 24 hrs from traveling. Southwest does the A,B,C tickets which you an also do 24 hours out. I forget how old the youngest is so you might be able to preboard. Good luck. I am so glad that I have more choices where we live.

Nancy

So we should all be over our morning sickness phase.

Thanks for pointing out that we are only 6 months away. Since the summers go so fast we will be crusing before you know it.

That's very interesting, Eric. Over here, all indications are that USAirways are back on their feet, especially now that they have merged with AmericaWest. The problem with Delta is that upper management continually wants to stick it to the little guy, but is unwilling to make any concessions themselves. The salaries they are receiving are truly obscene. I realize that if the pilots strike, they will not be able to recover, but I have to admit that I see very clearly what's provoking their frustration and can't really blame them.

Have to check the SW thread, Jeanne.
Thanks for the info concerning USAir. This may make me wait some time to book our flights as USAir has the best inflight entertainment in Economy of all airlines crossing The Pond. And their seat configuration is also more to our preferences as their Airbus A330 has 2-4-2 rows opposed to the 3-3-3 configuration Delta uses. Anja & I prefer not share our seats with a third person.

OMG, I just mentioned the Starwars thread......sometimes I forget what home I'm at!

That was post # 6,000, Jeanne - Congratulations :cheer2:

Eric, I think it is Delta that you would have to worry about....although today's paper announced that they have reached a tentative settlement. USAir seems to be doing fairly well for just recently emarging from bankruptcy. I think the merge with AmericaWest has helped them. I wouldn't hesitate to book a flight with them.

Thanks, Jeanne.
I'll look into flights with USAir. The only advantage Delta would have over USAir is their earlier arrival in Orlando: The Delta flights touch down at MCO between 4 and 7pm, whereas USAir arrives not before 8pm. We intend to drive up to Ocala that evening to spend the night there and then continue to Panama City Beach the next morning. Flying into MCO that late could mean that we'd stay in Orlando for a night and then drive on - we'll see.

We will probably fly Southwest out of Buffalo. Can't decide if we will fly down Friday or Thursday night -- I've booked off work for Friday for sure and actually leaving Thursday probably wouldn't be a problem either.

Is anyone flying down Thursday? Was thinking that if we flew down early enough on Thursday that we might be able to meet up with Rosemary and Rich. :goodvibes

Have to wait for Southwest to release their flights for October.

Fiona

We are flying in EARLY on Friday. Our leave time is 620am with a transfer in Cincinatti, Oh, arriving at MCO about 1030am...just in time to get a rental car and meet up for lunch. Are we still planning lunch at Sweet Tomatoes?

I checked out USAir and for the time being they're about €70/$85 more expensive per person than Delta and Virgin. Even though USAir's inflight entertainment is much better than Delta's I can buy lots of UMDs for €140/$170 (That's mini-DVDs for the portable Playstation) to watch during the flight.

Hey Michele,
it's time for a new rhyme to get us back on page 1 :teeth:
