I am proud to report that the Lakewood High School Marching Band are

USSBA 2004 DIVISION ONE OPEN NEW JERSEY STATE CHAMPIONS

Ciara and the band were awesome today and I'm very proud of all of them.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to say hi! Congrats to Ciara.. thats just great!! We have been handing out tons of candy tonight.. lots of fun! The puppies are being very good, not liking being locked in the kitchen though! I hope everyone had a spooktacular day!!!

The weather was really great here today for Halloween. Almost balmy. I can't remember when we have last had a halloween this warm. It was really great for the kids trick or treating. We also took advantage of the warm weather to finish most of the fall yard work and clean out the garage to so Ellen could use if for her car in the winter.

Yesterday Ellen and I helped out at the "Great Pumpkin Lacrosse Shoot Out" tournement that the high school booster club held for area Lacrosse teams. Ellen ran the first aid station and I keep score at one of the fields. The had seven game throughout the day. Fortunately no serious injuries. Just some twists, bruises and scrapes. Just had to use a few ice bags.

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween.

Gee Eric. I don't think I heard the story about Anja and the canoe. Sounds like it could be a good one.

Dave & Ellen

Ciara and the Lakewood Band..Congrqtulations on a great job...you and mom must be so proud!!

Dan..Congrats on the new job!

Pétér..so sorry about the job loss...maybe you and Sam can farm yourselves out for odd jobs....unions are very big in this area but unfortunately, as companies close, so go the unions. Sam's union has been trying to negotiate with the company but to no avail...now NEG (the Japanese parent company of Techneglas) want to open a non-union distribution shop in the former plant and pay people $6.50 an hour...it seems that since they declared bankruptcy and NEG has nothing to do with Techneglas when it comes to paying severence but they can open a distribution center under another name because as a Japanese company, they found that they have to pay high tarriffs to bring the goods back into the country from their plants in Taiwan and India (the same goods that NEG claimed no one wanted to buy!!!)

Avé...so glad to hear that all is well. God bless you and your family.

Loads of luck to Stacy and Eric...Mike is this the school that is right on the main road (I remember that we had to detour around the school since they were doing work there)

Was thinking of driving to Binghamton today to go to the Cider Mill...a fall tradition....free samples of cider and you can see it being made! We always come home with a few bottles!!

Happy Halloween!
Hope everyone had a fun weekend. We had gorgeous weather for trick or treat last night. DD brought the DGD's over along with more candy and we had a fun time. Becca was Tigger and Cassie was a dalmation, although everyone kept saying what a cute cow she was.

Finally got Josh registered on the DIS for the kids' thread. Now to show him the ropes and let him jump in.

Congrats to all with new computers. It's giving me the bug to get one, but we won't yet. Our desktop drives me nuts so I mostly use the laptop lately.

Renee'-- Love the pics of Haley! Cute haircut too. Becca got her 1st one at Magic Kingdom last June. Cassie will get hers next May. We're treating the family to rooms on us, DVC points, and the rest is up to them. Jen said they had to wait over an hour for Becca's. Will give them the rainy day tip for the next.

Welcome to all the new cruisers!

Jean-- Congrats on your retirement.

Mary Jo--- Hoping you will be able to cruise with us. Wouldn't be the same without you guys!

Wildernessgirl--- We are not too far from you in Ohio. We are also DVC'ers, HHI, BCV and VB.

Eric-- Love the new layout for the list. Thanks!

Ave' and family--- Welcome home

Peter-- Sorry to hear about the job. Keep us posted.

Mike--- What did you do to Stacey and Eric's bedroom?

Dan-- Congrats on the new job!

I need to check in here more often. This thread really moves along!

Colleen

Sheesh! Almost forgot this...

Congrats to Ciara and the Lakewood High School Marching Band!!

I checked out the pics too... sharp-looking group!

Colleen

Trick or treating just ended here. I give up, we never get many kids. I guess that's what happened on a dead-end street. The neighbor kids smashed most of the neighbor's pumpkins last night. They woke us up when they tried to smash the plastic one

Congratulations to Ciara for the competition, Jean for your retirement, Dan on the new job, and Jim on the new recipe record!

Happy Birthday George W and Mary glad to hear you survived the party

Peter, sorry to hear about your job, but look on the bright side, at least you'll get some time on the boards now ;)

Thanks for the update Eric. BTW, 7 + miles isn't taking it easy :p

The new computer is up and running but not in place yet. Still loading software, etc. I'll get the CD's burned and out this week before my pictures get moved to who knows where :smooth:

I hope everyone has a great week! Just think, only two more days of campaign ads!!!

Tracy

winotracie....I can't wait for this election to be over...supposedly, Pennsylvania is a battleground state and over the last two weeks we have had the candidates and their wives, family members, members of Congress (Zeb Miller and Hillary Rodham Clinton--her dad was born in Scranton)--I have received telephone calls from Kerry, Bill Clinton (Sarah hung up on this one!), young Republicans for Bush, etc.......enough already...after the election, we will never see them again!!!

Colleen...the grandkids are beautiful!! Love the strawberry blonde hair!!

It is a different school Mary Jo. That was Mcgavock High School were the enrollment is 4000 students.
Halloween went great as Katie learned to say to us after the first house"More Candy".

Kathy ran into one of her little 16 year old moms, along with the 15 year old dad and the baby and they all had trick or treat bags. Mike

Mary Jo-- Thanks! We think they're pretty cute too. :teeth:

Mike-- Love the pic of Katie in her costume. We also get some teenage parents with baby in tow trick or treating.

A surprising amount of people also tried giving candy to Cassie, even after we said she was just along for the ride. Had one guy come and put a sucker in her stroller! Becca thought that was great because people gave her candy 'for the cute little cow'. :rotfl:

Ave',
I wouldn't rule out a canoe-trip. It was fun - even for Anja;)

Dave,
when we first boarded the canoe it started swinging and listing and made Anja afraid of capsizing. So I told her that those things do not capsize. 3 or 4 hours later we came to a place where a canoe had capsized. We wondered how that had happend - Until we hit the same submerged rotting tree and tipped over too:crazy: We managed to get back into the canoe, but as there was a foot of water in it it started listing again, so I jumped out once again to prevent it from tipping over completely. We then transferred all our stuff (Packed in watertight bags) and Casey (Who was riding with us) and Anja into the canoe of a very nice fellow nearby. Then that guy and I lifted our canoe out of the water, flipped it around to empty it, and then everybody got back in.
Ave and Mary watched us the whole time - laughing and taking pictures :earseek: pirate:
And Casey displayed his ability to hold on to an open can of soda-pop through the whole process without spilling one drop of it;)
And I didn't even lose my Ray-Ban and my hat going overboard twice:teeth:
At first Anja was kind of pi**ed, but later she laughed about it, too. This trip was one of the highlights of our vacation, and I'm sure we want to do it again.

I just emailed Viking to join this lovely group and I had a question? I read in a previous post that there was a kids thread. Could someone tell me how to get to it? My son 12 now but will be 14 on the cruise( how depressing is that, He'll be a teenager) is on the shy side. Last time we cruised, he went to the kids clubs a handful of times but didn't really connect with anyone and then wanted to hang with us. That's OK but I think he'd have more fun with a group his age.

Welcome to all the "Newbies",my the list is growing !

So far I've only recieved b'day & anny dates from 11 families.....If you would like to add your dates to the list ,please email or pm them to me....We will send copies of list to everyone sometime this month....Then,if you would like to send cards etc........

Bette & Kim

Welcome CurlyQ! Glad to have you with us! The kids thread is somewhere on the "Cruise Meets" board. I don't know how to link to it, maybe someone else can help.

My drive to Fl. had me in the car for over 17 hours in 3 days, and I am so discusted with the political ads I could scream! Not only did I hear the peridental ads, I also go the local ads from the 3 states I drove through!Changing stations did not help, the ads where everywhere!

Eric, I am glad you are willing to try the canoe trip again. It is one of DH's favorite things in the world.I'm sure he will want to do a canoe trip when you come visit again.

Bette and Kim, I plan to send you our info.

We had ONE kid come to the door last night. :earseek:

Congrats Ciara :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

RellingTwin, thanks for the info. I just found the the thread and I'll let my son know about it. I agree with you on all of the presidential campaigning. It's driving me nuts. We get a handful of ads almost everyday in the mail and have received dozens of phone calls. The one late last night had me ticked off enough to "not" vote for the candidate's party doing the calling.

Colleen,

Adorable pics of the girls. I can't believe how big they got.

Congrats to Ciara and the band! Great job.

Halloween was fun. Haley got way too much candy. She had her routine down. Ring the bell, say trick treat, pick one piece of candy, take two if she was told to even though Mom said no only one, say thank you and bye. Then off to the next house. She wasn't shy at all once she realized she got stuff at each house. This morning she got her costume out of the bag and said Mommy, trick treat. It looks like she wants to do this everyday.

Reneé

Congrats to Ciara on the great job done.

Welcome to all the newbies. You'll see what a great group you will be traveling with...

Congrats to Dan on his new job and sorry to Peter on his. I'm sure things will work out.

Great pictures of both Haley and Katie..

Arlene

Well, here I am at home on my first day of retirement with a million things to do and where am I? On this board, of course! Cable has been out since Saturday so I can't watch Dr. Phil today -- darn.

Eric & Andy -- Love both of the logo ideas altho the cruise one might be a bit more appropriate.

Ciara -- Congratulations!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Haley & Katie are adorable in their costumes. Wish I had a DGD too in addition to Gavin who was Tigger. At each house, he announced that he was allergic to peanuts and couldn't have any.

Colleen -- We are almost twins as far as DVC goes. We have bought into OKW, VB & HHI so far. Have a trip planned to SSR in April.

Kim & Bette -- sent you a PM.
